That Nun pose is a bit too Saturday morning cartoons if you ask me!

Doomwholaughs 11-21-2019 03:04 PM

The Nun fits perfekt, also Nosferatu, Ash´s face looks a bit strange from the front, but better from the side, maybe a Deadite Ash would be better, but at all, i like them. Hope Ash´s left arm can go straight.

Comedian 11-21-2019 03:33 PM

Yes please. The nun is perfect in that pose. Count orlok is awesome. And ash. I never turn down a Bruce Campbell figure. Never.

lordjubilus 11-21-2019 04:33 PM

the nun looks like is running to catch scooby doo

dukefett 11-21-2019 07:05 PM

They look good but I feel like they could've had more fun with Ash's pose.

Vamp 11-21-2019 07:35 PM

Im not into these toony terrors but that Nosf came out superb, will buy him. i just hope his hands can be straight. also want that rat accessory is a must

immortalslayer9 11-22-2019 12:36 AM

Wow, they are not even trying to hide the fact that they are taking IBTrav's designs anymore. That Nun is nearly an exact copy of his work. They could at least give him some credit for the inspiration.

Yeah, I'm underwhelmed by the Ash figure, frankly. It's very bland overall.

This again? IBTrav himself is already basing his work and making money off of other people's character designs, art styles, and intellectual properties (without giving them any credit or compensation), so he really has no credibility at all to complain.

That said, while I felt previous claims of NECA basing their Toony Terrors on his work could be dismissed as mere coincidence at best and baseless whining at worst, I have to admit that the Nun's pose in this instance appears to be directly lifted from IBTrav's Scooby Doo pic. I mean, it's exact.

Again, however, I have no pity for a man who rips off other people's work complaining that people are ripping off his work. But I do see where people are coming from in this instance, and it gives validity to the previous claims.

Speculation but, Neca might be precluded from giving Travis a public shoutout or compensation cause that could leave the rights holders open to potential legal action.

Kind of a shitty to see an independent artist's work get lifted by a larger company so blatantly but on the other hand, he's been clearly profiting off of IPs he doesn't own, so kinda hard to feel bad for him.

And IBTravs design is basically a reskin of the Green Ghost from episode a night fright is no delight. Literally the pose and shape is lifted from that character. The hands are the same as well as the "swoosh" on the skirt. He took a ghost character and fit a ghost character over the top. It's equally as likely that someone at NECA did the same thing. Similarly, the stance of Jason with his hand backward is a common stance used in Hanna Barbers cartoons. If you told a dozen artists to draw a picture of a character in a particular style theres a good chance they would all come back with similar results.

Geez, really? Okay, so not only is IBTravs untalented and unoriginal but he's a total plagiarist as well. Fuck that guy for whining at all about NECA allegedly stealing his stolen crap.

Can we stop with the false anger at an artist selling fan art. Every single artist does it. Every one. And I'm not going to fault a guy for having a side hustle to make a few extra dollars. Dude isn't getting rich on selling Scooby style prints. and it's not like companies aren't commissioning him for officially licensed art as well. Many working in the comic industry and illustration business got their start doing that. And many of those in the industry still sell their fan art.

"False anger"...? Not sure why you think I'm "pretending" to be mad. Or why you think that I'm actually mad at this guy for selling his fan art, since I never said that. If he can make a buck doing something he enjoys, I'm all for it. He can sell all the art he wants, I wouldn't dream of taking it away from him.

What I (and apparently others) take exception to is that fact that he's being hypocritical. He makes his money completely ripping people off, but takes exception when other people (allegedly) do it to him? It just makes him look bad.

But, perhaps this isn't the place for such a debate.

I mean, Joe here plagiarized Konami's Ninja Turtles II art, but you don't see me complaining about it.

... that was a joke, Joe.

Black Arbor 11-22-2019 01:56 PM

No one's getting mad at the guy doing fan art, it's them getting mad some guy (probably a sockpuppet account for the artist) is whining that NECA stole from the fan artist, even though the fan artist owns neither the characters OR the animation style

Check this one out then compare it to his work (both Ghost Face and the nun). It's more or less traced and morphed into ghost face and/or the nun.

And yeah no hate to the artist but if you're going to sic your attack dogs on NECA in some sort of attempt to extort money (read his posts he seems to think he is owed something) then i'm going to dig up evidence and call you out on your bs. Call me naive but i honestly believe that given the Green Ghosts and the way these designs are drawn in general it's entirely possible for NECAs designer to have come up with the nun design without having copied IBTrav.

LOL yeah. Never heard of IBTrav, but I've seen cartoonified versions of horror characters, as well as modern comicbook characters done in Hanna Barbara style sold at comic conventions and street fairs for YEARS. I used to have a very convincing pic of the 80's Ninja Turtles with the Turtle Wagon all done in the Hanna Barbara style. Pretty sure it's "open source parody" at this point.

I've never spoken to the guy and I don't have an artistic bone in my body. But yeah, I'm a sockpuppet. You are really a piece of work.
