Jazwares gets the AEW Wrestling License

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Gets Action Figures and more from Jazwares

Quote:

AEW UNRIVALED collectible action figures will boast 25 points of articulation, real 3d scanned likenesses and a variety of accessories and authentic ring wear. With multiple Waves per season, fans can collect the stars of TNT’s new, popular weekly show AEW DYNAMITE, including MJF, Darby Allin, Dr. Britt Baker, Brandi Rhodes, Hangman Page, Jurassic Express and many more.

Each Wave will include limited edition and rare variants to add chase and elation to every release. Other authentic items for Fall 2020 will include the AEW UNRIVALED: Action Ring to play-and-display UNRIVALED figures and the AEW World Championship Title Belt, with even more formats and innovations in development for future seasons.

It really bugs me that neither Jazwares or Mattel can invest the money to make some damn slip-on wristbands instead of painting them on all the time!

deecee4 02-20-2020 07:20 AM

Not a fan of that torso joint but these came out a lot better than I thought they were going to.

Trivial Psychic 02-20-2020 07:23 AM

These have double jointed elbows right out of the box, while Mattel's Elites do not (unless you pay extra for them with the deluxe figures.)

May the wrestling figure wars begin.

I haven't been really impressed AEW as a brand so far so I won't be going "All In" on these...but I've wanted a Kenny Omega figure for a while so I'll be definitely grabbing that when these drop.

Yuk-yuk.

Yeah, I really don't collect wrestling toys at all (the only one I own is the recent Mattel WCW-era Goldberg), but a Kenny Omega figure is something I've wanted for ages as well. I'll totally pick The Cleaner up.

Oh gee...multi articulated and real scan wrestling figures. Now just where have I seen that before? Oh yeah, WWE. AEW is not reinventing the wheel here. They are again, just copying old roads WWE paved.

Yet if they strayed too far from what Mattel is already doing you'd get everyone complaining that they're not compatible with their Elite figures.

That is... an interesting take. By that logic, WWE ripped off WCW's toy Biz figures. Pretty sure most mass retail Collector lines are 6-7 inch, multi-articulated, and use some form of face scanning technology.

So what is it you want exactly? The WCW Toybiz days? The Remco or LJN days? Starting Lineup?

One things for certain...these look way better than that 50 dollar nonsense that Super 7 is putting out, and they'll likely be more than half the price. The line is in good hands with Jakks, as they've literally done all that can be done in regards to combat sports, staged or otherwise.

Outside of scale, the one thing I'm curious in will be Jakks approach to certain wrestlers on AEW's roster, as many have characters or gimmicks that are often deemed offensive on inappropriate by lesser minded individuals. I'm curious as to whether Jakks goes full speed ahead and gives us these grapplers, or if they play it safe and conservatively so as to not offend that small but very vocal segment of the wrestling community (and consumer base for that matter.)

This has what to do with anything? They're a wrestling promotion that wants to sell wrestling merchandise. If you're a wrestling fan (particularly an All Elite Wrestling fan) then "multi articulated and real scan wrestling figures" based on characters seen on AEW Dynamite might appeal to you.

Lody666 02-20-2020 04:34 PM

If they were smart, in order to boost sales they should ensure they are exactly in line with the WWE figures

Did you just figured that out by yourself, genius?

Spoon 02-22-2020 01:23 AM

Getting the Kenny Omega to put with Storm Collectibles Street Fighter figures.

I'd like it if the shoulder pegs were not visible. I've always personally disliked that. Maybe the finished packaged figures will look different.

I haven’t been impressed with anything the WWE has done the past 5 years at least. Any competition is welcomed with open arms. The quality of wrestling has been solid, and the unscripted passion of a majority of the promo work puts WWE to shame.

Dolemite 07-15-2020 06:31 PM

If anyone is interested, I was watching AEW tonight and they announced that the figures will be released on August 3rd at Walmart. Not sure if that means they're a Walmart exclusive or not, but there you go.

Totally picking up Kenny Omega. :)

ludovicotek 07-15-2020 07:07 PM

I’m down for a Kenny and Cody.

I haven't seen AEW figures once but I'd go out of my way to get my hands on 4 inch figures.

Archangel 03-26-2021 06:36 PM

The Darby Allin figure is pretty dope. Can’t wait for the Sting figure!

MeLikeJinx 03-28-2021 06:13 PM

These are the Legends sized ones in the gold boxes right? These seem really popular... almost like every toy hunt video I watch there are people buying these... well except for Riho. Actually... didn't realize how popular wrestling figures are in general until I started watching toy hunt vids... especially the WWE Elites. Most collectors seem to leave all their wrestling figs MIB though.

Screw that I'm taking pictures of Orange Cassidy in random locations being nonplussed
