McFarlane Gets Dune License
|
This could be great- wonder if it's any of the movies or maybe book versions... looking forward to seeing Maud'Dib on my shelf!
|
It’s likely only the 2020 film. I can’t imagine he has any interest in doing the books.
|
I expect primarily the 2020 product with maybe a couple of 1984 special editions if the 2020 stuff does well. The books would provide endless possibilities, but I think they are probably too subject to interpretation which could result in product that just won't sell. Although, McF did do their own take on classic monsters way back when.

Looking forward to this. I love the Dune books and hopefully they are able to make the new movie work. iRandom - I LOVED those McFarlane monster play sets! I still have mine. The 8 sets were awesome (my favorites are the Dracula, Frankenstein, Werewolf and Hunchback. Nevermind, I loved them ALL. Thanks for the reminder of them.

I would expect almost zero product from the old David Lynch film. It's never gotten to the beloved cult status of other 80s properties. And it's not a widely liked film. |
I look forward to this!
Of course I immediately go to the 1984 version. I then immediately go to wanting twin peaks figures by mcfarlane. Damn fine cup of coffee Diane. |
I'm not getting my hopes up, most likely it will play out like their Star Trek or Game of Thrones toys, one series of 2-4 figures produced. I wouldn't be shocked if its just a one-off Paul Atreides figure. Personally I am hoping for at least a "deluxe" figure of a Sandworm in the vein of the GOT dragon figures, similarly out of scale.
|
So I guess we can expect just one single wave of 2 or 3 figures and then cancellation of the line, right?
Re: Star Trek Re: Harry Potter Re: Game of Thrones With McF's track record on big name licenses, I'm not going to bother this time getting any of them when it's likely not to be more than 3 or 4 figures for the entire line. McF is just as unreliable and short sighted with film licenses as DST (X Files, Pulp Fiction, Tron, and probably LOTR) or NECA (Anything that isn't Aliens, Predators, or TMNT). It's very frustrating and not worth getting excited over new film licenses when it comes to these 3 companies. |
"Frank Herbet", you say?

The more I think about it the more I realize that what I really want is a Hot Toys version of Muad'dib & Chani in stillsuits. I'll take either 1984 or 2020.
