I really like this Iron Man figure - it is so cool!

Nice my favorite IM armour.

I'm looking at the previous version of this on my desk right now. There appears to be zero differences in the sculpt. And except for some additional scratches to the paint I can't tell anything different there either.

Nah, colors are definitely more muted and movie accurate... and this is clearly a cash-in to coincide with their new Tony. Great for those that missed it originally, and for those that have the original, that cherry red and gold doesn't look any less nice. You also can't "see" the die cast parts that are new.

Since I never got the Mark 3 (with or without the Hall of Armor set), I’m definitely picking this one up... if I can. If they’ll open preorders...

Also from what I can tell, this looks like a redone sculpt, one more accurate to the first Iron Man movie...

This will be an event exclusive but since said event will be digital it will be distributed through the Japanese Premium Bandai website.

Their special members get first dips June 17th and 18th; the general Japanese buyers will get access June 19th and July 4th when the event happens. Both days will see a limited sale of the figure so it's a "while orders last"-kind of deal.

Meaning for most of us it will be hoping that middleman services and e-trailers can secure stock and sell it with a markup.

US-people might get a release over their version of the Webshop though, but that hasn't been announced yet.

Well its good for those that are interested. Pass for me, somewhat Iron Man armoured out. If it had more weapon gimicks or details similar to recreate the action sequence in the movie (like that mini tank buster missile), I may be tempted, but slight improvements to sculpt and articulation, and "better" and weathered paint, and flight and repulsor effects only? I'm good, no need for me to double dip.

I can't find this thing listed anywhere for pre-order. Does anybody have any suggestions?

The window of preorder was fast last month, think was a very limited, Tamashi Exclusive. So Japan/Asia only didn't see any US based ones. It's expected to be releasing this month. It looked like it was basically a slightly new (battle damage) painted re-issue. Wasn't interested because I am happy with my Mark 3. Not quite sure but could have coincided with the Tamashi Features Virtual Toy Fair about 2 weeks ago.

Anime-Export had some for sale last week but are sold out. It wasn't a preorder, but in stock sale. I was able to pick one up but they don't use ANY other shipper besides Japanpost, so will have to wait for things to resume to get this and Rescue.

It was an event exclusive only sold for special Premium Bandai members before and for everyone else in Japan during the event on July 4th and 5th.

Only way to get it now is on the secondary market. The places that did secure some stock which I'm aware of are sold out.
