Seeking Advice on Selling Movie Maniacs
Hi All,
Sorry if this isn't the right place to pose a question about selling. Just hoping to get some feedback before I do post items for sale. I've got a number of McFarlane Toys Movie Maniacs that have been sitting in a box for nearly 20 years and I'd like to sell them. All of them have been opened, but all of them are still in the original packaging with all accessories. Not sure how collectable these are and if I should try and sell them individually or as a lot. I've got Jason, Freddy, Michael, Leatherface, and the Crow. Oh, I've also got a loose Tortured Souls figure, as well as the Sin City Marv Electric Chair (opened but still in box). Should I try and sell everything as a lot or is that less appealing? Appreciate the help and feedback! |
Some of those Movie Maniacs are actually still fairly collectible. I had every Movie Maniacs figure up until series 7. Over the years, other companies (namely Neca) have surpassed some of the McFarlane figures in terms of quality, so I began selling some off on eBay. I was actually surprised by how much some of those figures still sold for. However, you're not going to get crazy money for them.
If you definitely want to get rid of all of them, selling them in a lot might be the move. However, selling them individually might get you just a little more money. But then again, you're probably not going to get crazy money for any of them. At minimum, I'd keep the Movie Maniacs, Tortured Souls, and Marv separate (as in, don't combine all of those together in one lot). All of this is just my opinion, of course. Hope it helps and good luck! |
Thanks for the feedback! I'm also surprised that people are willing to pay much for these given how much better versions there are today. In particular, the Halloween figure seems to sell pretty well. Good call on keeping the lines separate if I do a bulk lot listing.

Some of that stuff, like THE THING, still has had no or almost no figure representation after all these years. Stuff like that still gets good money. Truthfully, it’s probably more the endless Spawn stuff that hasn’t really gained secondary market value.
I’d check each piece by ebay sold listings and separate anything that consistently sells for more than $30 on its own, throw everything else in one or more lots. I’d also try to sell them outside of ebay first (e.g., figure forums like this, dump at lcbs, fb groups...). |
Thanks, Thor! Didn't realize I could sell within here. Just thought you could post your ebay links here only. Will have to take a closer look. Planning on getting these posted a week or some from now.

Well your mileage may vary but I would def post around forums for a week and see if you can get any bites. Hell of a lot simpler than dealing with ebay/paypal headaches, fees, etc. I’m not on fb myself but I know people swear by it.
