Found this detail on another news posting:
Wonder Festival Shanghai 2020 Limited + Exclusive

If it's true, I hope it eventually comes through a different channel like the 1/6th scale black version.

It does appear to be an exclusive. Their site has the product code as EX-044b.

I found some additional news over at Tag Hobby:

"Scheduled to be sold at "Kojima Productions Store" at a later date
→ Kojima Productions Store"

So not too bad, then.

"We are Homo Ludens. We are those who play." wat

I still don't understand why they are still pushing to make & sell a mascot.
Or does it sell well?

Selling something they own all the rights too. Fostering some brand loyalty. They may even intend to do more with it down the line like be the star.

It's not too dissimilar to sports mascot merchandise and the lack of context around the character makes it difficult for some people to invest.. but then you have people that collect everything for the California Raisins

Personally, I'm a big fan of Yoji Shinkawa art and designs, so much that I even game Left Alive a chance to see his take on Front Mission mechs, and Ludens ticks a lot of the "cool" boxes for me that I quickly became a fan of the mascot.

Also, the original Figma is a solid figure and sold out the first batch, but you can purchase from the current run at the Kojima storefront.

Very cool, I'm looking around and can't seem to find it yet. I might bite on this. Looks like a really awesome astronaut warrior/hunter.

Was more puzzled with the first version, but seeing this in a black repaint got me interested even if it isn't in a game and just a mascot. Looks real good. I just keep hoping this Kojima connection means they'll put out more Kojima related figures, the Figma/Max Factory Solid Snake needs more company.

Maybe this will provide more context

Up for order on Kojima's site in the US, not sure about other regions.
