Before anyone says anything about NECA doing niche properties, because I know some of you are going to jump in and say something about what they are and aren't producing, this figure is bought and paid for 100% by Scream Factory up front. It is not a license that NECA sought out. Scream Facotyr acquired the license, and NECA is just producing it for them. The risk is completely on Scream Factory here.

deecee4 03-08-2021 02:58 PM

Wow, there's a figure I'd never thought I'd see. I know there was a model kit of the ship made a few years back so I guess there's a fan base out there somewhere..

You back burned any fires about to start. Fantastic job!

I think this is pretty neat.

firmpulse 03-08-2021 03:12 PM

Somehow...SOMEHOW. I have never even heard of this. Somewhere, In some past alt timeline my 7 year old self is cussing me out while angrily shaking his fist in the air right about now.

deecee4 03-08-2021 03:19 PM

I think it's still on Amazon prime if you're interested.

Roger Corman movies, especially from the 60’s thru 80’s, will lead you down a rabbit hole. Sure there’s lots of bizarre films. There are also some legitimately enjoyable films from his production company though, as the guy has had his hand in 400+ movies.

Battle Beyond the Stars was such a cheesy low-budget response to the success of Star Wars. The only noteworthy thing about this movie is that a young James Cameron designed the sets and special FX for it and also met a young Bill Paxton who was helping build the sets. It also has a soundtrack score by James Horner that is far superior to the film is it was composed for, and I believe Horner's work on this movie is what introduced him to Cameron later on when Cameron used him for Aliens (and eventually Titanic and Avatar).

I loved it FOR its cheesiness. Plus it was fun to see john boy and hannibal in a space flick.

I never ever thought for once I'd see this figure made. Most people don't even know the movie. I was 8 years old when this movie was shown on British TV. I saw it at least twice.

dukefett 03-08-2021 04:19 PM

I've been wanting to see this movie for a while, but I think I'll be find passing on the figure though.

Dolemite 03-08-2021 05:56 PM

Unbelievable. Battle Beyond the Stars is an absolutely goofy/awesome movie, and I never dreamed there would be a figure of this character (or ANY character from a Roger Corman film) made available, lol.

That said, it gives hope to the possibility that we may have Galaxy of Terror figures one day. Maybe!

Stranger 03-08-2021 06:24 PM

Some skinny arms and legs on'er...

lowsugar 03-08-2021 06:36 PM

Damn. That thing is hideous.

Oh that would be so awesome!

Ordered

Would also not mind if... Just a lark, they decide to re-use the mold to make a Stirba from Howling II...

Yeah I went down that hole in my late teens, sort of a rite of passage if one would call themselves a sci-fi aficianado amongst the group of people I knew at the time.

Not bad figure, though from memory she was more buxom in that outfit. Nothing is too over the top especially with Corman. Passing though based on the same reasons as with the Harryhausen stuff. Bit too late for me. But do love how Scream Factory gets NECA to produce these sort of figures.

IzzyTipsy 03-09-2021 06:28 AM

Never heard of this, but she looks like she could go great with She-Ra.

Battle Beyond the Stars is worth watching just for Saint-Exmin. Sybil Danning basically spends the entire movie in kinky BDSM get-ups and she REALLY seems into the role.

Holy shit, this was one of my dad & I’s favorite movies growing up. Easily the best figure news of the year so far. Instant pre-order! “Live fast, fight well, and have a beautiful ending.”

I had always assumed that "USA Up All Night" had exposed me to the crème de la crème of schlocky low-budget sci-fi back in the 90's, but I didn't discover this unpolished gem until I spotted it on Amazon Prime a while ago.

Same here ! Although honestly, I remember preferring Joe Bob Briggs' Monstervision over USA Up All Night, because Monstervision (if memory serves) played some pretty decent movies (both mainstream and cult) along with the cheesy low-budget drive-in stuff.

Up All Night did, however, play edited-for-basic-cable versions of 90's sleaze, like The Bikini Carwash Company movies  , so yeah, there's that, lol !

80sforged 08-02-2021 05:52 PM

Woot, Shout Factory finally shipped my copy with the figure. I knew they were running late, but sheesh. I'm guessing its an issue with NECA. They have run late with some stuff lately.
