NECA TMNT 2 Shredder
|
Oh goody. Another Walmart exclusive I have to pay upwards of $50 on Ebay to get because it's basically an Ebay exclusive.
|
I wonder how much and how long NECA will milk the first two TMNT movies for characters. What else could they do? We need a Sam Rockwell Head Thug lol.
|
Nothing wrong with NECA "milking" the first 2 films BECAUSE that is all the Turtles really have. Two films and the original cartoon series. Nothing else is really worth NECA's time.
Now, these exclusives are done on purpose and partially to make fans hunt and to frustrate them. It creates a bit of artificial shortage and creates buzz. Collectors will go from store to store and Walmart and Target get extra traffic. I am tired of it also as I cannot keep missing a work day or stretch myself after work to keep getting them. I make sure not to spend double on a figure that originally cost 30....and I hate NECA's shipping costs. I am missing a few sets myself and no longer really hunt. If I bump into them I will buy, otherwise, pretty much done trying to hunt. If you find at Walmart Shrredder from SOTO, 30 at walmart, 50 from scalpers or 50 from NECA themselves. I never once ran into a Walmart that carries TMNT and Walmart refuses to stock online because reasons. NECA knows what they are doing and as I stated above, it's NECA doing it on purpose along with Walmart. Walmart is smart enough to know fans want and want to ensure fans visit their stores, hence the constant mismanagement, "mismanagement," online. |
What annoys me is that Walmart and Target pegs are clogged with NECA Predator, Aliens, Horror stuff, Back to the Future...but no TMNT. Why is what appears to be their hottest seller so seemingly under produced?

Could also be a gross underestimation of the demand for TMNT (well 1990s) products. I know I had no interest for Michael Bay related reboot stuff and saw alot of peg-warming by the Bay-Turtles and some of the modern toon stuff in recent years.
Also theres the typical standard discussion with poor distribution handling with Walmart and Target. We see it overall not just with NECA but other companies like Hasbro. |
Go neca go neca go! GO GO GO GO! Also...Ice...is nice.
|
I'm not sure why Neca has issues getting the TMNT 2 packs in to Walmarts but it seems to be getting a little better in TN. Last summer, I would only see one or two TMNT 2 packs per Walmart. Now it looks like they're getting six to eight 2 packs when they stock them (I'm not counting them when I see them, just estimating).

I would probably buy the TMNT 3 versions even though I haven't seen that movie since it was in theaters, just to complete the line. But yeah, the 80's cartoon and original live action movies is where I stop. I'll be happy when/if they start on further cartoons so I can skip them haha.
|
Honestly, they're going to run out of main line figures they can do from TMNT 1 & 2. You'll get the odd Loot Crate exclusive of a character that would never sell at retail (like Danny). But they'll either have to start doing TMNT 3, or move onto a different era of figures.
And I think the TMNT 3 Samurai Turtles would sell well. They'd tweak those things like the did the Coming Out of their Shells figures to fit in a bit better. |
Could also do more Video Game figures. The Lootcrate dipping into Tournament Fighters means that's viable, and that's got a bunch of new and characters that would sell.
Clone Turtles allow for repaints (and all the clones allow for repaints), you have Ray Fillet, Sisyphus, Ninja April, Karai, War, Aska, Cyber Shredder, et . |
Are expecting TMNT 2 Turtles?

I’m sure the cosmic balance has demanded a Keno action figure at some point, so that’ll happen... maybe a Loot Crate Professor or “Dream on, Dweeb” girl... possibilities are endless! |
I'd be down for the Samurai Turtles.
Based on Randy's past comments during his SDCC/NYTF interviews, I'm not sure we'll see anything past the 1990s for Turtles. When someone like Pixel Dan would ask about getting Turtles from other eras, Randy's response was something along the lines of "We're making figures for fans who grew up in the 80s and 90s." There's never been a definitive "NO" to that question but I'm hesitant to hope for figures from the 2003 cartoon or the IDW comics from Neca. |

Not to mention Mirage comics Baxter, Utrons, Triceratons, Fugitoid, and all the other Mirage figures that were never made. |

Look I'd have no problem with these exclusives if I could buy them.
Supply and demand isn't create so little supply to the point that your customers are totally put off. I literally can not purchase these products from Target/Walmart. It's not even scalpers. These stores just don't make it easy to buy because they won't distribute them outside certain stores. I literally can not visit any of the Walmarts in my area and buy these products. They don't stock them. Can't buy them online from Walmart either. Neca tried selling some stuff and turned $30 figures into $50 plus. This is ridicules. Same with Mcfarlane. Coming up with a bs excuse about how they couldn't make these without exclusive deals. Also what is Ultimate Shredder in TMNT2? He didn't even fight until the end because his body from broken from the first film. For TMNT 2, weren't they doing a head set? |
some 2012 TMNT would be nice
