Robin's face looks a bit too cherub-like, but I am definitely all in on these.

dukefett 06-04-2021 10:13 PM

Why are they using 3 3/4" articulatin on 6" figures? Look at those hips and please get on the pinless elbow/knee train. Even Super7 is doing them now with the new Conan figures, come on McFarlane.

ShabbyBlue 06-04-2021 10:34 PM

The Mattel figures were better than these just because of better articulation.

I'm curious how big and complete that Batcave playset is. I'll get it just to go with my existing Mattel figures. Also curious if the Batmobile is more detailed than the Mattel version. I may upgrade if it has a more detailed interior and extra features.

I really hope McFarlane eventually does the Keaton Batman and gives us a 1/12 scale 1989 Batmobile. That would be amazing.

SuperWeird 06-05-2021 12:07 AM

These are 6” scale,eh? Dope, I’m buying them. They look great.

Raine24 06-05-2021 12:32 AM

Re-registered out of sheer excitement! Few lines have burned me as much as that truly abysmal Mattel line, and even if these aren't perfect, they're already so much better looking that I can't bring myself to be upset.

That said, I know it's a pre-pro pic and nothing's final (blue ears and black nose on Batman? Sculpted buckle? Fins pointing out? Tapered cape? His whole-ass headshape?) but that Mickey Rooney Robin is... something else. The Batmobile looks promising. They seem to have haphazardly photoshopped the rear of the door to look seamless, which I hope is a sign the doors open but just weren't looking presentable at this stage. The rear canopy is a a lot better than Mattel's. Theirs was chopped down to make it easier for figures to get in with those sealed doors. And it's so nice to see a Romero Joker that doesn't look like Herman Munster at a Halloween party.

And are those hinges I spy on the Batcave walls, implying that thing folds up into something more compact? Are we looking at a legit kids line!? I could totally get into that, perhaps even more than if they went full McFarlane with the hyper-realism. Especially if the rear of that set looks like stately Wayne Manor....

Nice peepers, looks like a fun backdrop! More companies should make backdrops type playsets

ghostbogey 06-05-2021 02:52 AM

My "Batman"!!!....
Always love this look....
Way Cool =^)

Dolemite 06-05-2021 04:49 AM

Very interesting, but a little troubling that Todd went with a much lower-budget look to these figures than his regular DC stuff. Those joints are pretty ugly looking.

That said, I'd welcome a whole new line based on the '60s Batman series, so I'm curious to see where this goes.

I’m going to just quote you. Exactly how I fell, I welcome this but the scale change and changed articulation are troubling.

Also….where the hell are the Burton and Schumacher films?

Black Arbor 06-05-2021 06:16 AM

I can't tell if those are simple peg hips or the weird H-hinge hips DC Classics had...

HoovenIV 06-05-2021 06:28 AM

I'm excited. I imagine he went with the lower scale/joints due to the vehicle/playset(s)? I wonder what the price point will be?

MPT 06-05-2021 07:10 AM

I prefer the NECA version that they sadly were only able to do with Adam West Batman.

VashTS 06-05-2021 07:58 AM

I came....

The articulation is suspect like the faces, but a buy

Raine24 06-05-2021 03:23 PM

The reason I think I can accept a simpler style for these (even if I want to see some changes) is that it fits the show itself. Adults see a comedy, kids see a rousing adventure, so why not make the toys fit that as well with a halfway point between McFarlane's usual work and what we'd see in a pure kids line?

Can't find the link now, but I saw a listing mentioning "Surf's Up! Joker's Under!" Batman & Joker, unmasked Batman, and Riddler, along with $50 MSRPs for the cave and car. For reference, the Mattel Batmobile was $60.

Aaaaand there went the better part of an hour composing a post because new members can't post images. Oh well. But they aren't sporting those funky hinged hips....

Cobra1 06-05-2021 04:15 PM

Those capes look like ass. They shoulda went with the Super Powers c-clip capes.

So replace ass with more ass?

Oh nooooooo! There's a chance they can cut these capes to look good, but those old clip capes were always bad and there was no way to attach a replacement. You at least you have that option with this style

themadbubbler 06-06-2021 06:17 AM

I'll be in to this line IF McFarlane shows they're going to go more "all in" than Mattel did. If it looks like we're going to get Mr. Freeze, Egghead, civilian Bruce and Dick, more than one Catwoman- then I'll be very intrigued. Right now, these look pretty good, other than Robin's face. Based on the simpler articulation, I'm guessing maybe each figure comes with a Batcave piece (whether the Batcave is 100% built through the figures, or there is a separate playset that can be added on to by with the figure pack-ins), and that will bring them up to $19.99 each, but if they don't do that, and just charge less per-figure, we might get a bigger variety of characters.

Doop 06-06-2021 10:40 AM

Looks awesome. I just hope that the figures will be sold individually, and this isn't some all-in-one playset.

Tony_Bacala 06-06-2021 11:40 AM

Below is what's been solicited at international retailers, most likely before they should have. May not be 100% complete and may change, but so far looks like more coming and the playset is it's own thing:

• DC 6″ Retro Batman 1966 – Unmasked Batman – NYCC 2021
• DC 6″ Retro Batman 1966 – The Riddler
• DC 6″ Retro Batman 1966 – Batman “Surf’s Up! Joker’s Under!” Version
• DC 6″ Retro Batman 1966 – Joker “Surf’s Up! Joker’s Under!” Version
• DC 6″ Retro Batman 1966 – Batman
• DC 6″ Retro Batman 1966 – Robin
• DC 6″ Retro Batman 1966 – Joker
• DC 6″ Retro Batman 1966 – Batmobile
• DC 6″ Retro Batman 1966 – Batcave Playset

I hope they go deep enough that I can add another Joan Collins figure to my shelf, and that they have the good sense to release Riddler in his three-piece

But I do not envy the people who have to figure out production numbers on the villains. How many Eggheads to a Shame or Tuts to an Archer, or Otto Freezes to Wallach Freezes

IzzyTipsy 06-07-2021 06:50 AM

It kinda seems to be more of the same for me. I already kinda miffed most of my DC collection is now out of scale with the new DC figures, but these both look kinda as cheap but with less articulation as the Mattel ones, and it's the same damn lineup AGAIN.

Not to mention, these faces look pretty bad, as per usual with McFarlane. Romero Joker looks OK from afar, but I bet the usual all flat caked on make-up looking paint from McFarlane doesn't even give us a Romero mustache underneath.

Between these and the Avatar figures just announced, is McFarlane going to reduce articulation in general?

JAG2045 06-07-2021 02:29 PM

Interesting, I may pick these up

I wonder if McFarlane will do a pack in extra heads for Catwoman (Newmar, Merriweather & Kitt) and Mr Freeze (Preminger & Wallach since they wore similar costumes - Sanders would need a different outfit)?
