Hot Toys Captain Carter

They should have gone with a realistic Hayley Atwell likeness headsculpt instead of a cartoony face, despite it being based on an animated series. The Bad Batch clones have realistic sculpts, so why can't this? I wonder if it's some kind of mandate from Disney since the Marvel Legends versions of the What If characters are also cartoony looking compared to the rest of the Marvel Legends line.

But in contrast I stand by my point that the What If figures should have realistic actors likenesses. There's no excuse not to do it other than some ridiculous Disney mandate that required it to match the animation style instead. |
I really like this headsculpt, it looks great. Wish there was a second, more expressive one included though.
Yet I can perfectly understand collectors who want a more realistic sculpt to fit into their collection or wanted previous animated inspired figures to be more like this. |
Nice rosy cheeks. Got a nice Disney Princess feel to it.

The likeness thing might be a money thing- actors get paid for such things as toys with their actual likeness.
As to Bad Batch- they already pay for the actor's likeness, so I guess they'll milk it? |

The specific people managing the Star Wars license, particularly as it pertains to populated lines of collector-oriented stuff like Black Series or Hot Toys, seem to want all the characters from live-action, animation, games, etc. to be able to cohesively fit together in a collection and not have stylistic clashes, thus animated characters getting realistic likeness in Hot Toys and Black Series. Meanwhile, the people managing the Marvel license, particularly as it pertains to collector-oriented stuff, seem to want to have the animated stuff looking like the animation and representing it accurately and being its own collection separate from the MCU or comics etc. stuff, and not particularly worrying about them fitting in with other Marvel stuff, thus having Marvel Legends and Hot Toys figures for not only the What If...? series, but also Into The Spider-Verse, actually stylized like in their respective animations. Basically, the Star Wars licensors seem to have a "one cohesive large collection that can interact with each other without stylistic clashes" mindset, while the Marvel licensors seem to have a "multiple separate small collections within the same larger lines, no need to make them stylistically consistent" mindset. |
To all of you complaining about the head sculpt, remember that if the do an Atwell likeness they will have to pay royalties to her... So they went for the easy road.
And about the Bad Batch, they have already a Temura contract, so a couple more figures aren't much of a difference, that and the Bad Batch will eventually show up in other live action series or movies, at least that's the rumor... |
Also, the outfit could be more feminine and flattering.
And the sword doesn't even look like a sword, more like a tapered club. And what does she do with it when she's not using it? Is there a scabbard? |
