Man, I really love the string on the back which when pulled, makes the figure say the most iconic line from the movie: "It's Morbin time!".

...

;)

I wonder how many people will actually buy this. And if the internet can con Hot Toys into re-releasing it a few months after it comes out :D

EternianJerkian 07-21-2022 05:29 AM

Aye, I have a morbid (or morbin') curiosity about how many they sell of this figure. lol

Rumour has it the Milo figure plays Ekse by off the meds.

cjflan32 07-21-2022 06:34 AM

Who makes these awful decisions? Absolute garbage.

My Matt Smith loving friend would probably buy that though. Heck, he's the only reason she watched the movie and said he was the best thing about it. lol. I mean, I could say similar about Terminator Genisys. Which she does own the blu ray of as well because Matt Smith lol

Dr Kain 07-21-2022 06:55 AM

Out of all of the cool costumes he's had in the comics, they chose to go with the boring movie look? Okay.

What? I love Matt Smith, but the dude completely sabotaged the movie. He was the worst thing about it as he didn't take himself seriously one bit and was clearly just collecting a pay check. His levels of cringe make the Peter scenes in Spider-Man 3 look like Oscar worthy material.

Has your friend seen Last Night in Soho yet? Now that's a good movie that Smith decided to do right.

IzzyTipsy 07-21-2022 06:59 AM

I will so get this when it's cheap on Ebay just for the memes.

I'd pay full price for Matt Smith's characters with removable shirt just for the meme

He's the only one who did anything remotely entertaining in the film. lol. 'sabotaged the movie' lol. The director obviously liked it because it's generally the director usually tells actors how they want the actor to act a certain part. But hey if we're blaming actors acting choices then Leto took the crappy film far too seriously (and was a prick on set too, as usual) and why did the film want us to worry about this guy who had already commited mass murder?

Don't know if my friend has. Probably. I haven't.

Nimrod 07-21-2022 08:03 AM

He needs to be in the upcoming Blade movie & have Blade dispose of him once & for all. Useless character.

Arachnid13 07-21-2022 08:04 AM

I usually like most moves I see but I regret seeing Morbius.

snake5289 07-21-2022 08:19 AM

I liked the movie but the suit and coat look was pretty dull. Really hope the movie tanking doesn't hurt his chances of appearing in the Midnight Sons if/when the MCU decides to get around to it.

Go watch Elektra, Blade Trinity, the Venom movies, Jonah Hex, or one of Zack Snyder's piss poor DC movies and Morbius will no longer seem so bad.

Thor is more useless in my book than Morbius. Morbius is such a great character in the comics, but it was nice to see this movie actually tried despite failing.

It's Morbius, he's supposed to cause mass murder. That's part of his character. He's on quest for redemption by trying to find a cure while coming to the decision that he will only drink the blood of criminals. How many Morbius comics or Spider-Man issues featuring MOrbius have you read?

Morbius is supposed to be taken seriously because he's a horror character, not some jokester. Leto has the perfect facial feature for Morbius so he was perfect for the role. He did a good job with what he had to work with. Smith, on the other hand, as I said, just didn't give a damn. The director most likely only used his scenes because he had to.

Except that he's almost always been seen as a cheesy character that take itself way too seriously. Any attempt to actually portray him as a horror character has usually failed. The 90s Spider-Man cartoon added to him being seen as a bit of a joke due to having to nerf his entire vampire gimmick and have him extract 'plasma' via weird sucker things on the palms of his hands (which to be fair is actually kinda grosser than teeth lol). And yeah I'd read Morbius in various Spider-Man comics across the decades (earliest one being when Spidey gave himself 6 arms which I believe was Morbius' first appearance. I liked a lot of the Gil Kane art era from the 70s). I think the most recent comics I read with Morbius in them was one of the Marvel Zombies minis from about 10 years ago or so where he was held captive by zombie/vampire morbius from the zombies universe. Used to have a couple issues of a 90s series that I remember said Midnight Sons at the top and was the typical 90s cringey attempts at trying to be edgy and cool (and godawful 'art' to match). So aye, basically Leto nailed that then, the more seriously he tried to play the part the more laughably bad it came across. lol

lol. So Smith didn't give a damn appearing in a big hollywood Marvel movie? Sure. You think he's that above it all? Well you did claim he 'sabotaged' it because yeah that seems like something a guy trying to have a career in Hollywood does. lol. And the director? You know them personally and can confirm he 'had to use' all the scenes of Smith that were used? Smith was the only remotely entertaining part of the entire movie, mate. Well, except for smirking at Leto trying to be all dark and broody.

Morbius makes the Venom movies look like Citizen Kane and Casablanca. And ZSJL was excellent.

Totally concur. ZSJL blows away Morbius, both Venom movies, Elektra, Thor L&T as well as some of the D+ MCU shows.

I couldn't even make it past an hour in ZSJL. If I want to listen to super heroes drop f bombs I'll watch The Boys instead. Plus, it has the worst iteration of Barry Allen ever and a cheap skank for Mera. They should have titled the movie the Justice Lords and it might have been slightly better.

Except not. Go read the Vampire Tales from the 70s where they kept Morbius very much horror centric. That's what the movie should have borrowed from.

Nice that you have read his premier issues though.

The first few issues were fantastic. They kept the horror aspects and gave Morbius a kick ass new goth costume.

Well what else am I supposed to think given how shitty he acted? The man didn't even try to take the movie seriously and it shows in his garbage performance. Maybe there is a reason studios keep cutting out his small scenes in other movies. Perhaps he isn't that good of an actor afterall.
Maybe he only skated by on Doctor Who and what we thought were poor scripts was actually just poor delivery on his part.

I realize this a Morbius thread and what not, but I think thats the best iteration of Barry. Sure, Ezra is a lunatic, but the physics when he uses his powers and the unique speedster scene(unlike the CW, Quiksilver, or Sonic)makes it really cool imo

I've never read a Flash comic where Barry is some lonely introverted emo brat who is as bright as coal. This Barry wouldn't be able to his way around a paperbag, let alone a crime scene.

Anyway, I think we've put far more energy into arguing over Morbius than the movie deserves.
