Cool. Expensive toys I will never own but it's nice. The mouth looks like Weller though Robocop 3 had Robert Burke though.

Trivial Psychic 07-28-2022 05:19 AM

What a weird excuse for Hot Toys to re-release this guy under. The 30th anniversary celebration of what was the easily the worst of the Robocop films?

Still nice though for those who missed out....but this is largely the same exact figure as the original outside of the paint schemes. Even the mouth plates look to be the same.

If they had corrected some issues the original had (mostly in the hands, which were hyper articulated but made it hard to properly hold his pistol and were a nightmare in terms of the carpet monster boogie man claiming the individual digits) I'd be more inclined, but since I already have the original with a 3rd party arm cannon, I'll be passing. The original though has gotten quite pricey on the aftermarket though in the years since his release, so this is a great chance for those who missed out on that one to get the best representation of Officer Murray to date for your shelf.

I prefer Robocop 3 to Robocop 2

AAA 07-28-2022 07:46 AM

I strongly considered this for a few minutes. While I really like Robocop 3 the movie, I ultimately I prefer the look of the original Robocop without the purple hues, a more blue steel finish.

If they ever re-release the OG Hot Toys Robocop I would be in on that.

Ironically I've seen many people repaint the original Robocop figure because it's too grey/silver and has no hues.

I don't think there's any chance they'll revisit the first one. Them including all the parts to make a regular Robocop basically is them reissuing the first one.

Aye, the first Hot Toys Robocop got a lot of crits because it lacked the extra hues that the film suit has. So did a couple of the NECA ones over the past ten years or so. It's supposed to have those little patches of blue and purple shining in the otherwise silvery suit.

Looks pretty good....
Robo not on my list...

Still...
Looks sweet ;^)

Tokyomeltdown 07-28-2022 05:40 PM

Without the extra gear it's basically Robocop 2, so this makes total sense. I'm content with owning their first release and MAFEX for 2 & 3.

Trivial Psychic 07-28-2022 07:36 PM

Not sure why so many people are mentioning the lack of purple hues on the previous Hot Toys release of Robo. I'm looking at the figure right now in my living room, and those purple hues ARE there...

MeLikeJinx 07-28-2022 09:35 PM

Robocop 3 is like one of the rare times a movie franchise changed direction from a hard R to PG-13 and it worked.

Raine24 07-28-2022 10:39 PM

RoboCop is CamelCase, with a capital C, just like in the press release that was pasted.

Actually, RoboCop 3 was a return to the original suit's color levels. And even more actually, all three suits used the exact same blue, purple, and yellow shading (literally the exact same pigments from the same company) just in different saturation levels. The only difference between the first and sequel movie suits' coloring was that they used paint for the metallic base coat instead of the aluminum the first film had.

That said, this is much closer to a RoboCop 2 saturation level, and it seems to be missing any yellow applications, so you're losing the green overlaps, too. :(

RoboCop 2's 30th anniversary was two years ago :P

Barely. The overly silver paint of a particular Hot Toys Robo was a common complaint and led to many folk repainting theirs. The one in the middle here. Which had a vastly superior sculpt to Hot Toys previous attempts (their old RoboCop 3 looks bloody awful) but looked almost white.
