Not really, its a homage to the Kenner figure and the eyes are accurate to that.

Makes sense to make the Kenner carded figure an homage to the vintage release rather than merely a re-release. The regular release isn't scarce at all.
Some fans could pass the Kenner off as a different character. If only he had the Mon Cal helmet, too. But then, the Kenner one didn't but then the Kenner one just has the stick not a blaster.
