Come on Hasbro! Generic Body sculpts, Cosmo as the BAF, no Gamora? This just seems like lazy cost-cutting tactics. I was hoping to fill in my collection with missing guardians figs but it looks like I'll just be picking up rocket and groot out of this wave (Maybe Kraglin if it looks better in person).

ThorOdinson123 02-21-2023 09:12 AM

I was hoping Mantis would be in her green and black BAF outfit. The BAF was terribly made which I have. I don't like the blue outfits I like the vol 2 versions which I have on my shelf. I was also hoping Nebula would be in her regular outfit too. Kraglin is the only one who has a non blue outfit but as much as I want him 25 bucks is a bit much.

firmpulse 02-21-2023 09:23 AM

Damn. That Rocket figure is awesome.

Only way you'll know is with reviews. Ain't like you can see the figures in package anymore.

Zigerlion 02-21-2023 09:50 AM

Wow... that's all the accessories they come with? What's Hasblow doing with the extra $10 they've been charging? Should have at least included the pretty cool looking Starlord helmet if they are going with the comic likeness of the costume.

AlienK 02-21-2023 09:57 AM

Ah just my luck, the only figure I want is the BAF to a movie wave meaning reselling the figures will be hard.
Guess I'll just wait until I see the wave go on clearance like normally seem to do eventually in the UK.

TheBlueMarvel 02-21-2023 10:12 AM

Hasbro, this thing you are doing with Adam's torso...the same thing you did with comic Hyperion's torso...please stop. The solid block torsos have been a steady complaint with female figures. The solution is not adding the same lamented design to the male sculpts.

Harbinger 02-21-2023 10:46 AM

Ill get this wave just for cosmo and nebbers! Its sad that they went with the blue instead of the black like it should be. ;)

BECAUSE IT IS LAZY COST-CUTTING TACTICS!

But you're gonna buy some anyway so who cares, right?

Of course the guy who routinely says nothing good about Hasbro and constantly mistakes the "r" for an "l" is going to spend $150 just to get a BAF.

This is how you maximize profits for your shareholders.

I'm sure the stockholders were happy to hear Hasbro's plans to reuse more body sculpts and decrease accessories, all while increasing the price. But as more and more of their figures end up as peg warmers on retail shelves, they are going to need to start rethinking their strategy.
Hasbro's main customers are adult collectors who are smart and will vote with their wallets (I hope).

This wave reminds me of the Avengers Endgame wave with all the characters in their quantum suits. If I remember correctly that wave ended up in many retail clearance sections.

K Dubious 02-21-2023 12:23 PM

I just want to see something and say "Wow that looks great, I can't wait to add it to my collection!"

Instead I see all the flaws.

I'm out of the MCU game, too much to keep up with, even if a movie isn't my thing it will still get a wave plus retail exclusives.

I just have to point out that Drax's round feet have bothered me since 2014 and now they have released them on the same legs 3 times over... I can also groan about the inconsistency of the pins, but you guys know where I stand on that.

Hasbro cares about one thing - selling to Walmart, Amazon, Target, etc. Those companies will still buy the figures, so Hasbro still makes the money. And those retailers may discount stuff but they won't stop buying it because they want Spider-Man figures for kids to buy.

So Hasbro makes out the entire way. Especially by cost cutting on stuff like this since pretty much every movie wave since Shang Chi has languished until clearance.

Better look at all of Groot's accessories

So I know I'm walking into a bees nest with this but I actually like these. The new parts look great and the Cosmo figure is exactly what I was waiting for. I do have to share some disappointment at some of the choices here. Star Lord is nice and the new head sculpt is great but where's the storage for his guns? No holsters? Odd that and the same for no helmet. I'm hoping that isn't like that in the film, like after it was broken in Vol. 2 he didn't replace it? Nebula, Drax and Mantis are fine, Rocket has some great articulation for once and I wish they would apply that design work and engineering to make a new Vol. 1 figure. Adam Warlock is fine. I'll get him. Groot is...not terrible but the lips look kinda odd, lol. Way to add a spoiler for Baby Rocket BTW, lol. Hope that it's not because Rocket dies and we get a baby replacement like what happened with Groot. No, I'm good with these mostly but Kraglin...this is the third reuse for the Vol. 1 Star Lord body and I kinda didn't dig it with the Yondu figure either but at least he had a long coat to help hide it. It just looks awkward here and I would have liked a Kraglin head from before he added the fin. In general I think Hasbro did a decent job considering the inflation and oil prices which impacts costs of plastic manufacture but there's some here to be desired and I hope they can fill that in eventually. I'm a Guardians of the Galaxy junkie though so this is all plastic crack for me. I have about a dozen or so Star Lord figures and all I see here is customizing opportunities and I think I need a 12 step program to help me.

Same here. I had every figure they made for an 8 year period. Multiples of many.

I took a step back and realized, most of the MCU movies were terrible, and the character designs were pretty bad. Lines and bland colors everywhere. Costumes became too busy and Disney pushed the wrong characters.

But seeing things on clearance, I must say Hasbro is in trouble as is the MCU. I think it takes people a while to wake up from their slumber and the novelty has worn off here.

Hasbro much like Disney has ran its course and the golden age seems to crashed. With Disney delaying and cancelling things, I expect Hasbro to lean heavily on SPiderman, X-Men, Ironman and nostalgia to put a band aid on the dam.

GOTG will not sell.

Zigerlion 02-21-2023 06:32 PM

So Groot is the only one with alt hands, and that big plastic wing + baby rocket justifies that Adam Warlock and Mantis comes with... nothing.

Dolemite 02-22-2023 08:10 AM

Cosmo is the worst BAF Hasbro has ever come up with. Pathetic. This entire wave is a hard pass for me.

Is it me, or does this guy say the SAME EXACT THING in every thread he posts in?

Skoob 02-22-2023 09:29 AM

I dislike the designs, starting with the uniforms. Peter with a wispy beard, Kraglin with the stupid fin, Groot looking like Thing, and Adam Warlock looking like a carrot? Hard pass. Rocket looks pretty good, but the significance of the dog is lost on me, unless maybe it becomes more clear in the film. I hope the movie isn't dumb, like the last Thor.
