McFarlane Lex Luthor Deluxe Theatrical Edition Review

What is it?
McFarlane's rendition of Lex Luthor played by Nicholas Hoult, from James Gunn's Superman (2025) movie.

Is it good?
It's pretty good by McFarlane movie figure standards.

Overall, the articulation and sculpt is what you'd expect from a suited figure by McFarlane, but the face sculpts are better than previous movie face sculpts that McFarlane's done. You get some nice extras, including the baby kaiju, which is actually kind of underwhelming and tends to topple forward because of it's front-centric center of gravity.

Joints are all quite tight as well. Some might say, out of the box, the major points of articulation (elbows and knees) are a bit too tight even.

Should I buy it?
It kind of depends but probably yes. If you've watched and enjoyed the movie, or you don't already have a Lex Luthor, then this guy's a solid get.

Pricing & What you get for it: I pre-ordered this for RM150 (35.25 USD) plus shipping, which as it turned out, was not the best deal I could have had, but it could have been worst.

For what I paid, I got a nice base body, 3 extra heads that are not only adequately different from one another, but they've got pretty decent facial expressions for the most part. There's extra hands and also the baby kaiju, which is something of a dud but it's better than nothing.

Alternative: There's a FondJoy version of Lex coming out that's in the same scale, looks good and is cheaper, but I hear FondJoy's quality control (QC) isn't exactly the best and their version of Corenswet's Superman reportedly has its fair share of QC issues. On top of that, it doesn't have the extra heads that McFarlane's version comes with. So I'd advise to stick with McFarlane in this case.

TL;DR
This is a pretty solid suited Lex Luthor and worth the purchase. And if you've watched and enjoyed the Superman (2025) movie, you probably enjoyed Nicholas Hoult's portrayal of Lex, so you might as well grab the toy.
