Having wanted these two vehicles back when I was a young child and not being able to buy them, my birthday is going to KICK A** next year when these are released!

Flint 12-16-2008 04:16 PM

Nice! I love the Tiger Rat (Well all of Tigerforce for that matter). It's too bad that the Rat doesn't have it's proper pilot, he would have been an easy frankenjoe. Also, I want the python viper single packed in the future, it's a shame to only have one of those.

But I am PSYCHED!

AdrienVeidt 12-16-2008 05:01 PM

Why not a PP Wild Weasel? The Viper mold is crapola, in addition to just not making sense here.

I think it's just a way for Hasbro to get the PP Viper out to the public.

Da_Last_2_Walk 12-16-2008 05:28 PM

I like how the Joes & Cobra took each others plane and made their own versions with cool new paint jobs.

Target seems to get more exclusives than TRU?

Runamuck 12-16-2008 05:38 PM

Target seems to get the better exclusives compared to TRU, I'd say.

And these are awesome. It would seem they are getting closer and closer to my want of vintage vehicle box art, instead of the the window box. At least it has the box art.

But it makes zero sense to put army-builders with vehicles. They lose out on money that way, imho. I think most army-builders go for a triplet of said trooper, but I just don't see a whole lot of Joe fans buying 3 PP Conquests to get them; but I would see a lot of fans buying 1 PP Conquest with PP Weasel *and* 3 single-carded PP Vipers (despite it being a horrid mold).

For the past few years Target has gotten the best exclusives from Hasbro. They are currently the only retailer willing to take the risk of ordering big vehicles for joes too. Makes things easier for me, I like going to Target!

Agreed! :D

I hear what you are saying AV, The Viper mold could be better and I wish they would have released him as a single, but sometimes with this line it's a matter of getting the figure, or not at all. Besides, he still might show up again in a multi pack or single down the road.

Also it's neat to see a Tiger Force Wild Bill, since he was originally slated to be part of the original incarnation only to be replaced by Recondo. Although I'm sure by now people have had their fill of Bill.

Also it's time for Hasbro to get out the Snow Cat and Ferret, so we can also get the Tiger Cat and Tiger Paw. :D

This Viper, with the fixed arms, is showing up in the v1 colors in the next Cobra 5 pack. Also..there is a Hall of Heroes version and what if it uses this mold too, with the fixed arms?

Since he has a yellow helmet, he is just going to be a generic joe pilot piloting the Tiger Rat in my collection!

I wouldn't, that is an incredible waste of money. If the Hall of Heroes Viper comes with the fixed arms that this Python Patrol version uses, it'd be a lot cheaper to buy three of those and paint them up in Python patrol colors.

Always liked it when a team would confiscate an enemy vehicle and use it for their own agenda. Although I much rather prefer them being used for infiltration-style missions (a la the Tydirium from Star Wars).

However, love the deco on both of these and would be tempted if I weren't holding off on vehicles.

Same here, and the 3 Targets in my area seem to have no trouble getting the exclusives in, but without having a ton of them clogs shelves/pegs/endcaps for months on end (And that's what I'm banking on for the TFU comic packs).

I agree, but I think the Big H is looking to release the Original Python Patrol Team. So far we've gotten Copperhead, a CG and the Officer. Next up are the Tele-Viper and Trooper (since we can now confirm a Viper).

I too agree that Skystriker would've been an easy Frankenjoe to Pilot the Rat. Wild Weasel Body + Any decent head = win.

Looks to me like it now only has the window for the figure, just like the vintage box... I don't see what you mean.

I might have to pass on these, I have no room to put them, my GI Joe collection went from " a shelf" to "several bookcases" in a short time. Plus a few other custom vehicles around makes for limited room.

I will have to stick to non repaint vehicles from now on with some exception - Cobra Stinger, I'm looking at you ;)

I mean it's not like the previous Target jets in a big window box, and its not like the current smaller vehicles in a window box.

I've always wondered and wanted them to put the vehicles in vintage-looking boxes, like the carded figures have. Some of the old boxes had the window for the figure, and some didn't....so the little window for the figures on these boxes is still accurate to the vintage ones.

Optimus Scourge 12-24-2008 06:10 PM

I'd guess the reason for the window box on smaller vehicles is because they are assembled and there is actually something to see.

IIRC, the vintage ones were sets you put together, like a model (only simple snap together) so that is why no window for them, otherwise, I think if window-less vintage ones came put together, they would have had a window box as well, just like TF's of the time.

Just a thought.

Runamuck 12-24-2008 06:42 PM

Oh, I know. They should box them in pieces like the old days then. :) They weren't that hard to put together anyways.

How about book style like the TF G1 Re issues? I'm rather fond of those myself :)

That's the only thing I miss about the old Joe vehicles. For me, half the fun was putting the thing together and applying all the stickers before I played with it. Yeah, sure the new HISS I got came with a few stickers to apply, but it wasn't quite the same.

I'm still hoping against hope that Hasbro brings those back to the States at some point.

I know what you mean, when you put it together and put on all of the stickers, you felt like you built it from scratch, practically. Well, ok, when I was 10 I thought so.
