For the extra $$ would you ?
pay a little extra at a store for a better product, or save some $$ and do it yourself? Meaning would you rather pay $20 for a Marvel Legends figure that's average could be good or bad paint, typical articulation.. Or would you rather show out $30-40 per figure if it meant you got the features you wanted?
I often see great customs on this site, ebay, jin's site etc... but I can't help but think that these massive corporations who pay guys big bucks to build, package, and market the figures to us, without our input.. which results in us having to spend hrs painting and finetuning our toys to the way they should look... I wish I could buy a marvel legends or marvel universe figure that had the features I wanted and charged more for it because the quality is there. People pay $100+ on a hot toys figure because of the details, from packaging to accessories to paint aps, to production run and availability and they eventually sell out of all the toys because they're that damn good. I would love to pay $40 for an Iron man toy that had light up hands, feet, chest mask, with an alternate head and hands ... instead of trying to outbid the guy next to me on ebay for $80 only to find out directions on youtube to do it myself but I have to spend $80 on power tools and supplies so... I'm no farther off ... I do customize some figures mainly paint apps, but I do some sculpting etc but soldering and stuff is not up my alley and I'm more prown to hurting myself , ruining my toy or both haha.. I just want to know from you would you pay extra for a better quality toy.... ? If so what features.. maybe a collectors line with metal parts ie claws, swords, or real leather pieces.. lifelike head sculpts etc... |
I would rather get a better quality toy for what we pay already.

Over here in ireland we don't get that much choice most of the stuff i get MU and stuff like that i get from e-bay so i don't know we can't even check the quality of the figure we're buying, So i'm not pushed really i tend to pay as little as i can after all the packaging usually goes in the bin any way and with MU the assecories tend to be usually crap any way

I will definitely pay a lot for good quality and rare toys...some in here, my country INDONESIA are not like collectors in overseas, i mean they were prefer anything cheap and really dont care that toys are in good quality or not, if they can get with very low price they will happy (OMG!!!).. so in here many local seller sell a lot junk toys, reject toys and loose toys a lot (from china and hong kong), and i have difficult time to buy toys (real good toys) in here, thats why im always looking by myself or search via ebay or directly contact online toys shop in overseas...but with that im feeling more satisfy rather than see everyday in here with that junk toys with bad quality and condition :(

Honestly, it depends on the toy and any other options I'm given. For example, I didn't pick up any of the Premium released for the TF07 line mostly because I already had the original molds. Better, show accurate decos and more paint apps just weren't enough in that case.
Now had both versions been offered at the same time, only with the Premium version at a slightly higher price point, then I probably would have spent a little more to get the Premium. As it stands, I just expect to get what I paid for. |
