Major Issue With New DC Action League Minis

I just purchased the new Superman / Bizzaro set for my 4 year old son, who is a huge fan of the Super Hero Squad Line. I was hoping to be able to collect this line for him as a DC complement to all the Marvel mini figures that he has. So we get the figures out of the package and he begins to engage in a mock "battle" with the two of them, having Bizzaro "punch" Superman's back. This mock punch created a huge paint scratch right down Superman's cape. More mock battling, more of the same. Superman's cape literally looks like a flesh and red striped flag. Bizzaro's hand has red streaks along the knuckles where he "punched" Superman. I had this same issue with the Batman Brave and the Bold mini figure Action line. I don't consider him to be rough on his figures - we have a ton of SHS and he has never had a similar issue with any of them. What is the deal here, and have others experienced this same issue? It is probably not a big deal for people who use these as display figures, but if you actually want your kids to play with them, it seems like a MAJOR issue to me. Not sure how this passes through quality control at Mattel either. I will try and upload an image later if I can figure out how to do it. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks.

I think he was more surprised than anything else.

I attached a pic of the figure. Sorry, it's taken with my cell phone, so I know the quality is pretty lame, but should give an idea of what I am talking about.

It's the paint that they are using, I'm not sure what kind, I'd guess it's acrylic but there are some PVC plastics that do not take on paint very well. Hopefully this will be fixed, it's pretty bad.

Sometimes using rubbing alcohol can remove the scratches

That's not the issue though, the scratches incurred are removing the paint, the OP is trying to prevent that.

My Cheat Commandos did the same thing when I let my kids play with them. They were so excited, then all of the toys were ruined in about five minutes. I can forgive Homestar Runner because they're a small company and they were collector toys, but Mattel should know better.

Does anyone know if there is a way to pre-treat the figures somehow so that the paint sticks / freezes better? I searched far and wide on the internet but couldn't really find anything.

Also, is this an issue that could be raised in the next Ask Matty, or is that not really the proper forum for this type of issue?
