Who has various Comic Toy Rights?

I know we know the basics to this question. Like Hasbro has marvel now, and Mattel has DC, but what about the others?

Awesome Comics (They published a couple titles in the 90s including Kaboom, and a controversial Cap like character)?

Valiant/Acclaim (Nexus, 2 Ninjaks, 2 X-O manowar, etc)?

Crusade (Atomik Angels among others)?

Anarchy/Harris (Vampi, and not sure who else.)

Or any others that I've forgotten.

Last I heard for acclaim at least, they had a deal with marvel for games, so not sure how that translates to their comic roster for hasbro.
Awesome comic rights should be cheap by now, a kaboom 3 pack in 3.75 inch scale of final forms of the two kaboom siblings and their evil brother would so rock. As would acclaim's 2 versions of X-O, or even a 3.75'' vampi with her dual tonfa swords.

Generally, independant publishing companies or creater/owners go with whomever is willing to make figures of their characters. A couple of years ago, Toy Biz did a line of only independant characters called Legendary Comic Heroes (a ML offshoot that gave us a really slick and non-Stalone Judge Dredd). AFAIK, Toy Biz obtained the license from each publisher for the line.

Also, most McFarlane toys still have to get the rights from the owners, even if it's an Image imprint. Obviously, McFarlane Toys holds the license for all Spawn and Spawn-related characters.

Given the lower profile most of these publishing companies have, I would guess the license is limited to a specific run or time frame, depending on the character's popularity. I doubt either Hasbro or Mattel would want to be locked into a long-term deal with characters that may or may not be hot sellers.

Anyway, those are my thoughts.

Well, and in some cases the label if they have the full comic rights, are a subsidiary of another company that has a toy division too.

And yeah, Marvel Toys making topcow figures was a hoot. xD How often will you ever see a company owned by marvel, making toys from a label owned by DC. lol

Was Topcow owned by DC when the Legendary Comic Heroes figures were released? I thought Topcow started as an offshoot of Image and then was bought by DC.

It was, but it was DC owned when Marvel Toys did the figures.

Honestly, I'm mostly just interested in getting official joe scale versions of X-O Manowar (both versions), Kaboom(all versions), and Kevin Lau's Vampi with tonfa swords. =3

But then again who can resist femme fatale bikers in battle armor either?

Tonfa-wielding biker babes make me weak in the knees. Also in the head, arms and various other parts of my anatomy, save one.
