The movie is a guilty pleasure

A few months ago I got Masters of the Universe from Netflix. I enjoyed watching it a lot more than I thought I would. It had been nearly 20 years since I had seen it last. Prior to going to "Earth", I was right there with them.

And honestly, the actors cast for the roles of the Eternian's was pretty spot on.

MegaPrime33 04-08-2011 12:30 PM

I actually enjoyed the movie, regardless of Courtney Cox and Gwildor. I always felt though that Evil Lynn could have been more evil, but whatever. The guy who played Duncan though, spot on.

Tony_Bacala 04-08-2011 01:57 PM

Yeah, I think that was on one of the pay movie channels recently too. Watched most of it out of order whenever it was on.

The Earth thing tho, just farked it up.

GK Punk 04-08-2011 03:39 PM

The Earth thing was the only problem I really had with it. Casting was pretty good.

I liked Courtney Cox in the movie. I even think she is attractive. I just could not get Bruce Springstein out of my head every time I saw her.

I thoroughly enjoy the movie. I just watched it again this weekend. I only wish they would have been able to use more of the evil warriors instead of having to make up new characters.

Solrac333 09-11-2011 08:35 AM

I hated this movie as a kid. It just felt like a bad Star Wars

Mastersteef 09-11-2011 10:04 AM

I've seen several clips and scenes of the movie, and have no desire to watch this movie (unless drunk with friends ;D )

But while we are on the subject of "guilty pleasure" films, mine is "Van Helsing" lol

I liked the movie, and the whole Earth this didn't bother me at all. He-Man is half earthling after all.

DogFashionDisco 09-11-2011 10:49 AM

I've never actually watched it, but I've admittedly gone out of my way to watch plenty of other cheesy B-Rated stuff. My favorite movie since I was little has always been Army of Darkness, so I am no stranger to the B-Rated world of film.

Blood 09-11-2011 10:59 AM

I saw it in the theater, Jesus I'm old

the movie is really dumb but I get a kick out of it

Yeah, but Army of Darkness is intentionally cheesy. Still, a highly enjoyable film. Not sure how I feel about all this Evil Dead remake talk.

haha I saw it in the theater too, so don't feel too bad.

thechris 09-11-2011 01:09 PM

I saw this on TBS as a kid and it scared the hell out of me. The scene where they raid Gwildor's home, then when they attack the Janitor at the school. Saw it again recently and it's actually a pretty good movie. Lots of liberties but what can you do. Also, Courtney Cox was hot, man. How could she have possibly hindered the movie? Also hot, Teela, and she looked nothing like the character from MOTU. LOL.

ludovicotek 09-11-2011 01:58 PM

^ Yeah, I always thought Teela in the movie was super hot! lol Still do!

Elaborate.

I hadn't heard they were remaking Evil Dead.

Who do they have on tap to play Ash; Ashton Kutcher or Sean Williams Scott?

You are not alone. First time I saw He-Man was in the theatre too. I didn't care for Gwildor or them going to Earth, but otherwise I enjoyed it. Really wish they could have put Orko in there. Gwildor is such a poor substitute and he looked like that guy from Troll.

As for guilty pleasures, one of my favorites is Three Amigos.

To me Gwildor should have just been ORKO, But The one thing I really liked about the film was Skeletor, he was just as crazy as he ever was, and that scene after the credits.....Scare Glow anyone?

NoodleChow 09-29-2011 01:17 PM

even as a kid i thought them going to earth was a terrible idea. thor reminded me of that since i felt the earth scenes were lacking but everything on asgard felt about right.

as for my favorite bad movies which actually trancend my list of good movies is undefeatable, space mutiny, and the story of ricky oh.
