How do you pronounce the word "machina"?
 

This is something that has bugged me on and off for years, ever since the term became fashionable in sci-fi/fantasy games, books and whatnot.

How would you pronounce that word? Would you say "mahk-e-na", "ma-shee-na" or something else entirely?

I've always pronounced it "mah-ki-na" as that's how I first heard it said (from the Latin phrase "deus ex machina"). But I've heard it pronounced the other way and it got me to wonder.

Keep in mind, I'm not asking how it should be pronounced, but how you would and, if possible, why?

yeah, i say it like you. like machine in spanish. i dont know squat about the sci-fi/gaming use of the term though. : )
