Hasbro's Marvel Q&A Round 4

From Actionfigurepics.com

1. We’ll save the bulk of our San Diego Comic-Con questions for next Q&A, but here’s one for planning purposes. Will all the Marvel exclusives be available on HasbroToyShop.com? And will there be any differences between what’s available at the con and what will be released through HTS?

Yes, they will be available online, but they usually go reaaaaly fast, so make sure to get them quick! They’ll be the same as the units that are sold at the show.

2. Speaking of HasbroToyShop.com, is there any way to tell when an item is just temporarily out of stock and will get replenished? For example, I haven’t been able to find a Mighty Muggs Logan (damn that thing is awesome) and he’s showing out of stock on HTS. What would you recommend that I do so I don’t miss him if more Logans become available?

Unfortunately, there is no mechanism to notify customers when an item comes available at the moment. We’d recommend bookmarking the Logan web page in your favorites and checking it daily. Once in stock, this one doesn’t last long!

3. Marvel is having some success with animated features, both in broadcast and direct to DVD. What’s the status of the Iron Man: Armored Adventures toys that were on display at Toy Fair? What’s the possibility of figures for the animated films, like Next Avengers, Hulk Vs., or the upcoming Thor: Tales of Asgard and Planet Hulk?

The Iron Man: Armored Adventures line will be hitting retailer shelves in August. As for the other projects you mentioned, there is nothing planned for these in 2009.

4. You’ve announced that there will be twelve Secret Wars 2-packs. Are those all planned to ship in calendar 2009? When should we expect to see them on shelves? How about some hints on some of the other 2-packs planned?

The first 6 issues will hit shelves in 2009. The last 6 issues will start hitting around January of next year. Hint: One of the figs has an awesome haircut.

5. Ok, time for our monthly check-in - any updates when or how the Nemesis wave will hit shelves in the US? How about expected shelf dates for the Marvel Legends two-packs?

The Nemesis wave is still on hold with no confirmed release date - but trust us when we tell you that we’re working hard to nail this down. We want these to hit shelves as much as you do! The good news is that the next two waves of two packs should be arriving at retail in August - these waves will be available at Toys R’ Us and through Diamond Comics.

Cool Toy Review: Are there plans to rerelease the harder to find MU figures many fans didn't get a chance to pick up such as Grey Hulk and Bullseye?

Hasbro: You'll get another chance to pick these up in the fall. They'll be carrying forward in some wave 5 casepacks.

Cool Toy Review: Will we be seeing Thanos and Apocalypse in the MU line?

Hasbro: With two heavy hitters like these you better bet they're on the list for serious consideration. Probably more a matter of "when" as opposed to "if".

Cool Toy Review: Will we see the nine remaining Secret Wars comic packs at SDCC, or will we have to wait longer for some of them?

Hasbro: No, only 6 of them. We're planning to reveal waves 2 & 3 at Comic Con. We're keeping wave 4 under wraps until later though.

Cool Toy Review: Do you plan to release figures for Iron Man 2 in the same scale as the current Marvel Universe, if so will there be a better selection of characters instead of ten repaints of Iron Man? It would be nice to get figures of Tony, Pepper, Rhodes, War Machine, and the various Villains this time around.

Hasbro: Sorry, but we're not ready to discuss upcoming 2010 product or lineups just yet.

Cool Toy Review: During Toy Fair, we were treated to a photo of the Gigantic Battles Skrull and Bucky Captain America set. Any chance we might be able to share that photo with our readers who weren't there?

Hasbro: We've got something better for you - check these things out in pack. Also, get a load of the Goliath variant!

Cool Toy Review: These questions were originally sent in prior to our Marvel Universe exclusive interview, which includes packaging shots of all three sets (so far) in this line!

1. Is Fury Files going to be the permanent theme for the Marvel Universe line or will the theme change regularly?

We’ll be discussing the 2010 theme in SD just one month from now. There’ll be tons of new Universe news so make sure to join us in the booth and at the panel!

2. Can you give the fans insight into how wave line-ups are determined for the lines (this can be for all lines not specifically to Marvel Universe)? Is it a team decision, manager decision, marketing, retailer?
Is there a master list of figs at the start of the process that are going to be made and then they are divided up into waves?

It’s a team decision and it’s always a vigorous but fun debate. Usually, we’ll nail down a full year lineup over a matter of several meetings that take place over a few weeks. The last meeting is a bit like a steel cage match as we lock the doors and fight to the finish for our favorites!

3. If the Gigantic Battles format proves successful would it continue with ‘4 inch figure, 12 inch Figure’ as a set format or is there a possibility of repackaging larger Marvel Legends figs (Dragon Man as one example) with potentially 2-3 4 inch figures?

It’s possible. We aren’t holding ourselves to one specific formula for our battle packs, and there are definitely some characters of varying scale that we’d like to do that won’t fit on a single card.

4. In addition to the codes provided in the Marvel Universe line, is there any additional content on the horizon? Flash games, videos, mini-comics?

Absolutely, check out the new stop motion short on the Fury files site. Hint: it comes after the initial intro video.

Q1. The SDCC Invaders pack is fantastic! Will we see any more team packs that pay homage to Marvel’s history (i.e. The Champions, The Defenders, Inhumans, or New Mutants)?

A1) We certainly hope so. There are tons of great possibilities for these!

Q2. How long will it take you to provide fans with a full set of the Fantastic Four in matching costumes? We’ve got blue/black Johnny Storm and Thing, blue/white Johnny Storm and an up coming classic Torch in Secret Wars set #2. One would "assume" the likelihood of a blue/white Thing and/or Mr. Fantastic in the Secret Wars packs is high. This leaves the need for a blue/black Mr. Fantastic as well as an Invisible Woman in blue/black, blue/white and perhaps even a translucent/phasing version. Hopes are high for this but with your track record expectations are low. Prove me wrong.

A2) We agree that The Fantastic Two just doesn’t have the same ring to it. With that said, team completion is always one of the discussion points in our character debates. We have tons of characters on tap for 2010 (heck,we’re doing nearly 60 figures in 2009), but you’ll have to wait until SDCC for the next batch of reveals.

Q3. Will we EVER see any female characters in the Wolverine and the X-Men line or any other woman besides MS Marvel in the MU line?

A3) Yes.

Q4. Will there be more of a balance between the number of Heroes and Villains in Marvel Universe in the future? The figures are great, but the ratio is something like 4:1 so far, Green Goblin and Bullseye can only take so much abuse!!

A4) But they’ve got plenty of support from an army of Hand Ninjas along with Hobgoblin, Red Hulk, Klaw and Thunderball! Not to worry, you’re going to some great new villains in SD next month.

Q5. I’m crazy about the Marvel Super-Hero Squad line. Are there any plans for a Fantasticar for the FF, a Quinjet for the Avengers and a Blackbird for the X-Men? I’ve seen the big rig for Logan on his motorcycle, but I’m hoping that we’ll see some other vehicles for the line.

A5) No news on those particular vehicles, but there’s an assortment of Super Hero Squad vehicles hitting shelves now that we think you’re going to like – be on the lookout for Squad Cruisers! There’s a cool Spidey Car, a Wolverine 4×4 and a crime fighting Helicopter for Cap.

Awesome info. Thanks for posting. Now I'm more psyched than ever for SDCC!

Johnnyakiba 07-03-2009 07:25 PM

I cannot wait, I really hope I get my hands on that Invaders box set. It looks amazing. But hopefully they will release those figure single card sometime. I will not open my set IF I get one. How can they not re-release Namor or CAP?
