This looks HUGE and awesome!!! Makes me wish I liked Voltron ;)

geo198 07-20-2011 02:48 PM

I think that the toynami Voltron is way better than this, i'm underwhelmed by mattel

exactly. and screw you mattel for not molding the lions legs in gray/silver. the white is garish.

bmbloo 07-20-2011 02:59 PM

Voltron was never that great of a gestault, and this one doesn't bring anything great to the table other than some size.

Shin-Gouki 07-20-2011 03:26 PM

Even at $50 a lion (Counting Figure) I am so in!

Factor in Camera Flash and they might be grey after all.

omega145 07-20-2011 03:47 PM

I like the size but other than that I prefer my Toynami version.

Enigma2K2 07-20-2011 04:52 PM

Wish they'd put this in stores instead of Supreme Devastator.

wait... FIFTY DOLLARS a lion?!?!? This thing SHOULD look better than the Toynami one!!!!

Matrixsoul 07-20-2011 05:02 PM

Wow, kill it with fire! Mattel, I am disappoint :(

Definitely looks awesome. It's a good updated version, but imo nothing beats the old die-cast set.

maybe. but the legs look pretty light. if they are grey it's a VERY light shade. regardless, the legs should be silver.

I agree, things like this need to stay die cast. I remember having a set as a child.

danbo 07-21-2011 10:43 AM

ii would probably think about getting the highly articulated versions of these.. just a shame they dont appear to combine like the simpler ones do

trebleshot 07-21-2011 11:32 AM

I'd still like to know how that one-touch conversion gimmick works.

Snowflakian 07-21-2011 03:20 PM

I'm digging the new voltron more than that old one. Love the range of motion on the old. I think I might pick up the 5 lions of the new though. Maybe a 6" figure of it too. So they better make one!

The 6" super articulated figure is an SDCC exclusive

I think Snow means a 6" of the new Voltron, animated style.

Ah I see.

Enigma2K2 07-21-2011 07:52 PM

I'd like to have that new Voltron

Solrac333 07-21-2011 11:18 PM

Easy pass on all of these. Glad I got the Masterpiece version.

Snowflakian 07-22-2011 02:13 PM

Yeah, I meant new. I'm burned out on old style. New mech design I like, but the people designs I don't.

So new all the way for me. I got old out of my system between now and trendmaster days.

I would love to see newer prototypes of the new Voltron, the prototypes they showed were rougher than I thought they'd be. Seems like Voltron Classics took priority, which is understandable given that it's the most recognizable.

CG76 07-24-2011 06:05 AM

I'm still on the fence on this one. I dunno. I don't understand why Mattel won't just release all the lions at once. Imagine having to to wait at least 5 months just to complete the darn robot. They kill you to on shipping if you wanted two sets (one to open and one to keep sealed in box).
