MOTUC Shadow Weaver
 

I've been on the fence about signing up for the 2012 MOTUC sub. I've recently been getting into the line but am by no means a completionist. I mainly want the characters that I had figures of when I was a kid, primarily the villains. However, there are definitely some others that I'd like to get my hands on. One such figure is the upcoming club exclusive Shadow Weaver.

I just finished reading this update from Toy Guru about the status of the sub and the lower production runs for 2012. With the lower production run added with the exclusivity of Shadow Weaver, what do you guys think Shadow Weaver could potentially go for on the secondary market?

I don't really want to sign up for the sub, I couldn't care less about the Star Sisters. Don't care about the New Adventures. I know I'm not going to want every figure. Actually, so far for 2012 I only want Cobra Khan and Shadow Weaver. I wouldn't mind having Sorceress. Should I just chance eBay and hope I could score Shadow Weaver for about $50? I missed the BBTS preorder, which was for $60. I know if I sign up I could always sell the figures I don't want, but I'd rather not have to deal with that.

I doubt you'll ever get it for $50 on ebay. I'm guessing it'll be AT LEAST $75-$100 on ebay. BBTS was the best bet for guys like us, but we missed out on it. I'm NOT buying a subscription, but I really really want this figure. My best bet will be to eventually make some kind of trade for it. If I'm very lucky.

Well, damn. I did it. I caved. I just signed up for Club Eternia. Wasn't gonna do it, but I want Shadow Weaver something fierce, and I just read on MattyCollector that they are now going to combine shipping on all subscriptions regardless of when they were purchased. That was the only thing keeping me from doing it. I did the Ghostbusters subscription and said that was gonna be it. And knowing that if I caved and ended up doing the MOTUC sub I'd have to pay separate shipping really held me off from doing it. That announcement was a smart move on Mattel's part. I fell for their ruse.

I passed on the MOTUC subs because there are just as many figures I don't want as I do want, and it's a high commitment price. I'm not sure what the runs were the previous two years, but I got both sub exclusives for under $60 shipped (each) from eBay "buy it now." Maybe Shadow Weaver is more desired than the Preternia "Dexter" He-Man, but I doubt it's more desired than Wun-Dar was. Most re-sellers include the maps with the exclusive figs too. Either way, it's a great line so I doubt you'll be disappointed.

^ Yeah, I'm sure I'll be selling a number of the figures but the lineup revealed for 2012 so far has been pretty strong. Sorceress, Kobra Khan and Thunder Punch He-Man are all must owns for me. I just hope and pray that Stinkor makes it into the line this year.
