Stores it's okay to look grubby in...

I had to run to Walgreens today to get my GF a Rockstar and I did it in the clothes I slept in. (tee shirt and sweat shorts)

What stores do you think its socially acceptable to go into when you're not looking your best?

D00MTR0N 09-25-2011 04:06 PM

im lost here man,huh?

CLASSIFIED 09-25-2011 04:11 PM

You know how you wouldn't go to the mall with your lady friend dressing like a fool, but if you have to run into 7-11 in the middle of the night it'd be okay if you didn't have your best jeans and a clean polo on...

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

D00MTR0N 09-25-2011 04:18 PM

I dont care what people think, hell I golf in jeans and a Darth Vader shirt \m/

bmorr 09-25-2011 06:06 PM

as long as im comfortable i dont care what i wear. its always jeans and a t shirt with topsiders.

BlackMagnus 09-25-2011 06:27 PM

Walmart. Blend in, stealth like.

There. That's me responding to your thread.

tlasjr 09-25-2011 08:55 PM

If I'm going toy hunting I usually cultivate the grub. worn faded clothes, unshaved. When I go into an unfamilar place with a wad I'd rather look like a sleaze bag.

If you mean anytime It's really you judging yourself, no one really cares...unless you reek like death. I've had some friends that could peel paint if they tied on the night before.

Dylan in Oregon 09-25-2011 10:31 PM

I'LL judge if you're wearing a Polo shirt.

DogFashionDisco 09-25-2011 10:41 PM

Clothes mean nothing, and all places of business care only about one thing - money. Flash enough of it and your clothes might as well be made of gold, but none of us would know what that is like..... I think. Anyway, have you heard of the store Buckle? It's filled with trendy t-shirts that cost $100+. I'd rather be seen wearing a white t-shirt covered in my own shit than a shirt from a store like Buckle, so maybe that will give you an idea of what I think of fashion.

Tiberius 09-25-2011 11:09 PM

Walmart, just for good measure I won't shower or put on de-orderant. No one else does there..

thechris 09-25-2011 11:57 PM

Hahahahaha, I've done it. I mean I've gone to a 7-11 wearing dirty clothes covered in sex stink for a Slurpee at 2:00 AM in the morning. I went to a Mac's convenience store once in a nice suit that I wore to work earlier that day but it was like 1 or 2 in the morning, my hair was all messy and I was a dirty mess. My dress shirt was untucked and I didn't have my tie on. I probably looked like I just came out of a fancy dress dinner and got jumped or I was doing coke all night. LOL. Yeah, I don't think it's the best thing to do but I've done it and I'd say stores it's okay to do it in if you had to would be a 24 hour convenience store. Stores I've seen it in are like Walmarts and pawn shops.

That's really the one answer to this thread. I'm sure there's other scummy stores, but Walmart takes the cake for me.

In addition to that, I think you need to pee on yourself before going there to really fit in. Maybe yank a few teeth out while you're at it.

Yep I agree and Kmart isnt too far off. This is really a fantastic thread!
I like to go toy hunting in my tightie whities.

miketime 09-26-2011 08:43 AM

The K-Mart by me in Brockton takes the cake. The people that habitate this store are disgusting. Stained wife beaters and sweat pants. I saw a rotund women waddle in the other day and head strait for the moderized buggy. She gets in it and immediately complains to an employee about the battery level saying it will not last. She says this with experience as she must be the one driving this buggy to the ground.

There is also a Big Lots in the same plaza that gets all the traffic k-Mart does so the same dress code applies here.

I'm a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy. Most days I'm unshaven. The only thing that is strange about me is that I usually make a B line to the toy isle. :)

I forgot about these two stores, and agree that both are just as scummy as most Walmarts... and for some reason, K-Mart has a cafe... yummy!!

CLASSIFIED 09-26-2011 10:07 AM

There was a time when I was big into the sweatpants flannel combo, but when I started going with my current GF I decided there were times when I should probably look a little more presentable.

That said, I think its cool dressing like a grub if you're just running a quick errand.

I wouldn't fucking eat in a Kmart cafe even if they served gourmet fish tacos...and I'm not talking the ones in a tortilla.

DogFashionDisco 09-26-2011 01:20 PM

K-Mart and Big Lots.... lovely. K-Mart has the worst customer service I've ever experienced too. I remember returning an extra figure set I had from the Iron Man 2 line there a while back, and since I didn't have the receipt they made a big deal and said I couldn't return it because it could have come from any store. Well, it was a K-Mart exclusive, and people occasionally return gifts without receipts so I called bullshit. It took 15 minutes for a manager to finally surface from the abyss they call a backroom, and she gave me the same bullshit lines. I looked her dead in the eyes and said, "I don't appreciate how your implicating that I want to return something here at random. If you haven't noticed, the item is exclusively sold at your stores. By the way, do you have many items that are only sold here? Last time I checked, this was a retail store, so just take care of it." So they did. Fuck K-Mart.

Yeah man, they're nasty looking. If I had to describe one of those places with one word it would be "depressing."

..followed by disgusting & pathetic.

Nexodusrex 09-26-2011 01:54 PM

I'm not stylish. my wardrobe is pretty much johnny bravos. Bluejeans, black tshirt/sweatshirt. some tshirts have collars for work.
Now if I went to a store in my jamies, I'd look like a ninja turtle spectacle. lol

jimster2010 09-26-2011 02:30 PM

All stores are O.K. to go into looking like a person who thinks Irish Spring is a wrestling move, it depends on the time of day. For example, midnight toy run at a 24 hour place I'm in my pajamas. Whoever is at the those places at that hour of the night could care less. Sunday mornings at K Mart and Target is a good time to shop in my pajamas and the look wouldn't be complete unless I had the bedhead to go with it. Any other time no matter what it's not O.K.

TomsToyChest 09-26-2011 03:17 PM

It doesn't matter if you're looking your best or not when you go into a retail store. Your money spends just as well as the guy who's dressed like a GQ model.

I personally shop at stores that are well-maintained and have adequate outdoor lighting if I run errands at night. I avoid stores that are poorly lit, have a decidedly bad element hanging around in the store and out in the parking lot.

CLASSIFIED 10-03-2011 05:36 AM

I think it depends on who you're with.

If your by yourself than its okay to dress however you like.

If your with someone else, then you shouldn't embarrass them.

Whether or not they should be embarrassed is another story.

wbcollect 10-04-2011 01:01 PM

im 36 with 2 kids and been with the same woman for 15 years i stopped caring a long time ago lol

Do Boy 10-04-2011 01:02 PM

I have to look on point no matter where I go :D
