Classic Batmobile - Right Size?
So I kind of want a Batmobile for my 3 3/4 figures, what do you guys think of this one? Is it in scale?
1966 TV SERIES BATMOBILE BATMAN CAR 1:18 DIECAST MODEL | eBay |
It looks a bit small, to me anyways.
|
It is 1:18th scale but that doesn't mean itll look right. Measure the dimensions of whichever figures you want to use and match that up with the dimensions shown on the web page to get a better idea of the size comparison. You could even do a rough sketch on paper and then put the figure next to it to have an idea of how it would look.
|
I had a feeling that it wouldn't match up. The car looks amazing, so I guess I just had high hopes.
|
However, would it be so bad just to have an epic looking car?
|
Yeah, that should work for DCIH, but I'm guessing you want to use it for custom MU figures which won't work at all. DCIH is most definitely around 1:18 scale, MU is more like some weird scale that they came up with themselves. The average figure is around 4 1/4".

I didn't examine it, but TRU (in my area anyway) has an old school remote control Batmobile that looks about the right size. I'm not sure if it's quite as detailed as this one you posted though... not sure about doors opening & and other moving parts like that, but you can stick your new Namor in there and drive him up and down the block in style.

Haha! WOW! Now THIS I would buy. Especially since Batman and Robin jump over the doors anyway. Sweet.

I only have a few 1:18 cars ( Deloreans, Batmobile, S2000). I would buy more if my people would fit inside. Get this; Earlier this year, I owned the full size Honda S2000. I took measurements of the actual car and then divided by 18. The diecast toy S2000 is a little too small to be 1:18. The most inaccurate part is the interior. The plastic seats are too thick and the steering wheel is too big . *So slightly undersized body and oversized interior. *I think some new Gi Joes and MU are unintentionally 1:17 scale so they wont fit. *3.75" scale if based on average 6 ft tall person; 72" divided by 19 = 3.79" or 1:19 scale (roughly) I was able to squeeze Anakin in but even with his knees bent his butt wont go down and either way his head sticks out above the glass. This car looks too good to not have it so I can just let Batman stand in front of it someday. The R/C plastic version is supposed to be the same size but I never had the chance to compare the 2. |
did I kill this thread? Has anyone else tried to fit an action figure into a 1:18 scale diecast car?
|
I think he looks a little too big.
His head should be behind the windshield, not above it. |
It's not a new product but an oldy, the original batmobile from the Tim Burton film, the 1 that had the plastic "shield" that you could put over to make it look "locked" would be the perfect size, it's in scale and plenty of room insdie for most figures to fit, and you can get it online used for around $20.

The Super Powers Batmobile is pretty bad ass if you're willing to substitute a 4" scale Batmobile for a 3.75" one.

That old school one from Keaton Batman would be cool, but it isn't the style I'm looking for. The classic remote control Batmobile you guys mentioned sounds cool too, but I'd have to see it in person (I seriously doubt it is carried near me because I've never seen it, though I didn't know to look for it). JustryGT, thanks for the photo, that helps out a lot. I'm really into Batman, always have been. While I was in Chicago over the weekend the tour guide noticed my Rogue's Gallery shirt and told me he'd point out all of the locations that Dark Knight was filmed at for me (which he did indeed). I even got to see the building used as Wayne Enterprises, it was pretty sweet.

Do you think the DCIH line will fit better in the car? Got any Green Lanterns? You should buy it, try it out, if it doesn't work out, return it. Heck, it's cool on it's own anyways man!
