TRU Starting to Preorder Collector's Figures

I would've made the title more descriptive, but I didn't have the room.

Anyways, TRU's(at least my store) are going to be taking preorders/reservations for collector's oriented figures(like Neca, DC Direct, Diamond Select, Mezco, etc). I don't know any specifics, but apparently it's going to start soon...and is sort of like preordering games through them.

There is a sidecap at the end of the GI Joe/Collector's figures aisle...and there will be a small display with tickets/cards you can take to the cashier an do it like a regular preorder.

How many figures, what figures, and specifics are unknown to me. But be on the look out for it.

Very cool. Thanks for the info.

I've actually been pretty surprised sometimes with what TRU will stock. I've found some stuff that would definitely be considered more "collector" than mainstream.

deceptifocus 08-26-2009 06:18 PM

yeah they get alot of the NECA stuff that ive only seen in collector stores besides there, so this will be cool as they also usually have them cheaper

Optimus Scourge 08-26-2009 06:23 PM

Great news! Thanks, Runamuck!

trebleshot 08-26-2009 06:32 PM

I'll be very curious what specific lines will be included, and what limit (if any) will be placed on a given preorder.

Super_Megatron 08-26-2009 06:45 PM

Very good business move.

LUCKYDUBE 08-26-2009 07:15 PM

I always wonder why they didn't do this years ago? hope this goes for MU line.

Greylight 08-26-2009 10:53 PM

This is excellent news. I'm very glad to see they may be stocking even more items that Wal-Mart and Target don't carry. This is a very good move on their part.

Now, if only they would turn my local Babies R Us back into a proper Toys R Us store....:(

Might have something to do with their management, they might be under new management, I know a few years back there were some grumbles about who was put into charge because of their past experiences with toys under different companies.

I'm glad this pre-order system will be available for collectors items.

Excellent news for all in the US. Hopefully they extend this internationally as well to Asia! Come on, TRU!!!

Runamuck 08-27-2009 03:01 AM

Oh, wow. lol Didn't expect this to be front paged. I was just giving a heads up. Anyways, one of my managers said we don't have our complete graphics package for it yet. But that may not be true for other stores.

I think it's a great idea too. Definitely a great business decision. Can't wait to see how this pans out.

I've taken a look at their site, and noticed that their collector's section has grown from the McFarlane stuff. Don't know when that was done, may be old news. They also sell SDCC stuff on their site? wtf. Not everything SDCC, but a little bit. Very interesting.

trebleshot 08-27-2009 05:10 AM

That reminds me, I wonder if there will be a preorder for the G1 reissues.

MegaPrime33 08-27-2009 05:14 AM

It's good news, but I've never had too hard a time finding what I need. Plus I can be patient. :)

I agree, I've seen stuff there lately that's more like stuff you'd find in a Suncoast Video store.

I don't know. I know our store has never gotten some stuff. Like those Bionic Commando figures....I heard about those a long time ago. Our store never got those in. Maybe it will be a way to get figures the store isn't going to get in full force.

megatronkicksas 08-27-2009 08:50 AM

That's awesome! I hope it includes all toys.

soundwavempl 08-27-2009 10:12 AM

Sweet! I've been hoping brick and mortar stores would start having a pre-order system. I rather buy locally than online.

That's what I'm hoping. I only found one, single Soundwave reissue back when he was available.

Runamuck 08-31-2009 09:07 AM

Added a pic to my first post. This is what the sidecap display looks like.

Optimus Scourge 08-31-2009 10:10 AM

Thanks for the pic! I'm really interested to see what will be available.
