Future Foundation Thing

Don't know if anyone has said something about this or it has been noticed, but I was looking up so pics. And the Thing seems to have a tank top on when he is in his FF costume. I haven't read the comics, but has the thing gone shirtless when he was in comic? Or is this just a lazy part on Hasbro on not just painting on a tank top?

stjuggernaut 10-02-2011 10:17 AM

probably the latter. they might not have wanted to tool a new torso for him. its still cool that they are making him though so they have done the best they can as far as i can see! the spiderman looks awesome!!! i will hopefully get all these in the future!

Do Boy 10-02-2011 10:18 AM

Oh yeah without a doubt I love that they made a pack where we could just snag all of them without looking through all the single cards for each one. I was just curious to see if he did go shirtless in the comics I guess.

He does in the original art.

He dose what??? I know he has a shirt on in the artwork. That actually doesn't help anything with my original question lol

Do Boy 10-02-2011 10:31 AM

I was just curious as to why they chose to do the thing the way they did. Both Sue and Richard are for what it looks like are SPOT ON to the art work down to the black lines on Richards boots it's on the toy. But the thing seem really either lazy or a different costume that was in the comic that I didn't see.

How bout now?
Doing a few searches I only found him with his shirt on, perhaps he's a bit more self conscious these days, whatever the case maybe, he's bound to get his shirt ripped off eventually.

Do Boy 10-02-2011 10:35 AM

Ok....... Maybe you didn't get the original question lol. I am wondering if he has gone shirtless.

Well this is the closest I could find

Either way I think it's laziness on their part, they could've just painted it on him, it's not like it's loose on him, but hey if it saves them a few bucks not to be comic accurate, who cares right? Kinda makes their consumers feel bad though, they really could've spared the extra paint.

Do Boy 10-02-2011 10:58 AM

Yeah I can't really complain that it isn't 100% comic book accurate but It's just Sue and Richard are what seems to me are 100% accurate down to every single little line on the outfit even on the foot of Richard. Then the thing just gets thrown to the side like who cares lol.

No I've read all the issues of future foundation thus far and he wears his tank top and short shorts at all times. Okay I lied about the short shorts part but he does have his tank top on in every issue since these costumes have appeared.

thechris 10-02-2011 11:09 AM

Can anyone hook me up with a set of these at a good price? LOL. I think they're pretty cool now.

M3T4L V1KING 10-02-2011 11:16 AM

Ok, just so everyone knows, I'm pretty sure that in the original concept art that the Thing was shirtless. So Hasbro probably went lazy, but is using this as their excuse.

I believe this is the cover to FF#1. But don't quote me on that... Pretty sure in the comic itself he has a shirt. Once again, don't quote me on that...

So as far as I can tell, the Thing HAS NOT gone shirtless... yet.

Haha, nope, cause they would've used the wrong set of ankles and feet if that were the case. Funny. Had they gone with the original FF4 3 pack set of ankles, this may have flown but since they decided to do a little work and swap out the ankles, it doesn't. LOL.

That's a shame, the one time I actually LIKED the thing, he had a shirt on, I seriously feel a single carded thing with a shirt coming on.
Is it really that costly to do such a small amount of tooling? Aren't they a multimillion dollar corporation?

It's unfortunate as it's such a sharp costume, and on that note, I hope spiderman keeps his FF costume and wears it more frequently. I'm thinking it's a bit much for a running change, but I can dream.

Yeah, but it sold regardless, so why would they bother? It's all about making money. LOL.

M3T4L V1KING 10-02-2011 11:26 AM

Well I guess they decided to combine both versions of the costume. Even though the one I posted would have been easy to make... VERY EASY. Just use the Thing from the Fantastic 4 pack and paint his shorts white. Very easy, very cheap. Oh well, we're getting the FF so I'm not going to bitch too much about it lol.

cellardoor 10-02-2011 11:51 AM

I'm just looking forward to about 2 years from now when Hasbro are desperate to re-tool these figs again and we get Ben "Blackbeard" Grimm!

Tiberius 10-02-2011 12:17 PM

Ok, flipping through the book FF #1. The scene where they go on their first mission, The Thing appears to be shirtless while in the FF Car, but when he jumps out he is magicly wearing a shirt! Damn it Grimm make up your god damn mind!

The FF's costumes are made of unstable molecules and can transform in order to look like whatever the wearer desires.

They use this function from time to time in order to change their costumes from white to black.

Do I win a "No-Prize"?

You are completely right. I don't like their inverted costumes though.

Oh he will.

Without the long hair and beard how else will new readers know he's been gone for awhile?

Tiberius 10-02-2011 12:42 PM

I still think they brought him back way to soon. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay to soon. If they wanted another Torch for F4, they should of brought back Jim Hammond. Also Storm should of gone a bit crazy, that would be nice..
