Next Generation Appreciation?
It's amazing how each generation grows up from the Baby Boomer's, Gen Xer's and Gen Yer's. Do you think the next generation will appreciate the Hasbro MU line or any of the Marvel Universe Figure's? It seems this next generation is all about social media and so forth...
|
I believe as long there are comics, tv shows, cartoons and movies about these superheroes the next generation would appreciate them. Heck my 3 year old daughter know most of my collection of MU by name lol.
|
The next generation will only appreciate what the previous generation raises them to appreciate. I guess what I mean is if parents share in their experience of toy collecting, reading comics, watching cartoons, then they might catch on and continue the legacy if you will. Just a thought and opinion which comes from absolutely zero experience as a parent.

They'll stick around. Social media is just the new fad until it settles down and becomes part of the norm. It's not much different than what forums and otherwise have already presented over the years just with more interconnectivity to reach each other faster.
Toys will always be around, and MU in particular will just keep going up. ML could be hit or miss, but it's always been hit or miss since it started. So yeah, the next generation will be fine, and many are already getting hooked thanks to the various cartoons like Avengers, Young Justice, Super Hero Squad, and plus the movies. |

Call me crazy, or old, but I thought this thread was going to be about Star Trek the Next Generation.
Make it so. |

My future kids better appreciate toys. If not, they don't get loved. That's how I roll.

in terms of toys, you still have to think about the big picture: the economy. "back in the day" the market was better and toys were cheaper and kids bought more shit. Today, who has money to buy toys, well except for us of course. Think about other than close to christmas youve ever seen a toy store packed with people. I have no idea if what i wrote is related to the topic. |
:DI'm semi-new generation. So far, lovin it.

Depending on the parents, children could grow to love or hate toys and toy-collecting. Chances are if you share your passion with your children, they will foster an appreciation for them and may eventually start collecting them as well.
My 4-year-old is constantly facinated with my toy collection and, with my help, has started one of her own. Of course, she plays with hers like any normal kid (i.e. they break on occasion), but her toys somewhat mirror my own. She owns Legends Transformers and some of the more kid-friendly TFs (Activators, Bumper Battlers, etc), SHS toys, Power Rangers, Hot Wheels, Cars and more. She also has her own "girl" toys like Barbies, MLP, Care Bears and various other baby dolls. Sometimes it's good to be the child of a toy collector. ;) |
the medium will change to reflect its generation. just as marvel has over the years already. as long as this trend continues there will always be people interested. its just one big old cycle set to spin dry.
as long as their is interest in something there will be people willing to capitalize on it. so my answer is yes, though it might not be in the same way it is now, it will still be present in some form. |
