Heavyweight Marvel toy collector

Hello from North of the 49th.

I have to admit what started out as a few action figure purchases for my son, has turned into something from which i cannot see the end. You see, i have started collecting all things Marvel. (that is Legends and recently MU and MS). I've been doing for over 2 years and have built up quite the collection. I've invested many $$$ and had to build a display room in my basement to accommodate all the figures. They are almost all MOC, although i do have all the ML Icons and BAF's loose for display. I don't know what it takes to be considered a heavywieght Marvel collector. Their are many items i still need and it seems their is always items i want. What are the keys figures needed to be considered a heavyweight Marvel collector? I'm missing plenty of the rare stuff like FFC Dragon Man and ML Modok series Blue Wasp. Any thoughts?

crazy obsessed.

Welcome to the Toyark!

I think this might be better suited to the "Welcome" forum, as it's an introduction thread. So moved.

And I've have to agree about you being a heavyweight in the realm of Marvel toys, because it sounds like you're already there. I think quantity over quality would make you a heavyweight. Sure, it's awesome when someone has a few super rare items in his/her collection. But if that's the extent of it, then it's not that special unless they are part of a larger overall collection (be it a single line, multiple lines, a brand or a even just a theme).

To me, heavyweights are the ones who have complete or near-complete toy lines and/or 100's of figures as part of their collections. For example, I consider myself an avid MU collector since I have about 60 or so figures from that liine (aside from a few exceptions, I only collect the single pack figs). Certainly not in the realm of heavyweight.

However, I do consider myself a heavyweight when it comes to Transformers. My collection is currently somewhere around 950-960 TF toys dating from 1984 to present.
