DC New 52 Action Comics Discussion
I have the first issue and I didn't like the way they treated Superman as a villian, is anyone getting this? I might get #5 as it has his origin in it in the New 52. I have seen a few pages on-line and it makes me curious. Can someone sell me on picking it back up?

He's not a villian... he stands for an ideal.
The law in Metropolis is bought and paid for by corrupt business men. Superman stands for truth and Justice, not law and order. It's a slow build. I like the new Superman better than his previous incarnation. He is interesting again. |

I have read 1-5 and I think 5 is the issue where you probably won't appreciate what was going on at the end until a later issue. Just my take. |
I never used to be a Superman fan, but something about this reboot to Action Comics got my attention, and after reading the first five issues, I'm hooked. Not really sure what it is, but I'm loving the direction they're taking him in. Though I do have to admit that issue #5 was a bit confusing the first read through. After reading it a second time I think I've grasped a general understanding of what's going on, but future issues will certainly fill in some info.
I like how they expanded on the Kent's background a bit. Set them up perfectly to be the one's to discover him. I also appreciate how they connected that back to issue #2 (I KNEW that was a deformed calf!). I also laughed a bit when I saw Krypto's little cameo. Though he was a bit confusing, since he looked dog-like at certain times, and more big-cat-like at other times. One of my first reactions after re-reading #5, was that the bad guy behind everything was Zod, but the more I've looked at him and thought about it, the less I think it's him. Looking at the panel showing the portal to the phantom zone, the guy in the back of the group with his arms crossed looks more like Zod to me. It's definitely the guy with the mechanical looking hand that's behind everything, but I have no idea who he could be (I'm not too familiar with Superman's rogue's gallery). Could be someone I've never heard of, or could very well be a new villain they're introducing. Personally I'm hoping he turns out to be a new villain, but if not, oh well. Anyways, I'm definitely looking forward to future issues, and can't wait to see where they take it from here. |
All caught up on Action Comics and it is GREAT. The 3.99 price tag compared to the more friendly 2.99 tag is something that almost turns me off. If cash is right I will be buying more Action Comics. If not, I am more than happy just sticking with Superman..

DC New 52 Action Comics Discussion
Wanted to start a thread for the books I've been reading. Action is one of them.
What do you guys think so far? Kinda dig this more than Superman. It's got a post-Smallville feel, if Smallville went full fanboy that is. Like how Clark is Peter Parker like too, poor and living by self, focused reporter. The whole flashback to Krypton messed up the arc flow IMO, and again, the time travel stuff with Legion is throwing me off. But overall digging it. |
Really good story this round. Shows how Superman gets his suit. Although, not digging how it just turned from white to "the suit" with no explanation. Little lex luthor. Explanation of Braniac. Nice solid story, good art. Definitely digging this more than Superman proper.
Tho, Superman 7 starts a new creative team, so we shall see. |
