Marvel Legends vs. Universe - David Vonner
YouTube - Marvel Legends Petition ( Dave Vonner back to Legends?)
Alright guys, the youTube Marvel Legends community is getting worked up in a debate where the ML collectors want to make a petition bringing David Vonner, Hasbro's talented Marvel figure designer, back to the Marvel Legends line. He's on the Marvel Universe line. I thought I'd ask you guys to rev up the youTube accounts and get in there. A lot of this community on here is Marvel Legends collectors, and I don't expect their petition to work or anything, but we need the MU fans represented. Help me out guys, Vonner has said he watches these videos! |
For more elaboration, what did David Vonner sculpt for Marvel Legends?
|
Since I have been collecting nearly the entire MU line so far and it's wayyyyy too late in the game for me to go back and collect ML for any decent prices, I'm far too biased in my decision making for this debate, lol.

ive been collecting ML so much that its like MU doesnt even exist and definately doesnt justify almost the same price as a ML fig
|
Thankfully, I don't think there's much danger at this point of Hasbro taking support from MU to put back on ML. Like deceptifocus said, Hasbro is making almost as much on MU as it did on ML, and for alot less expense.

Also I think Hasbro needs to change their strategy for Marvel Legends. It used to be a hot selling line, just scarce at times when questionable quality control. We all thought that when Hasbro took over, we'd see the same type of articulation and detail that we were used to, with the high quality that Hasbro was known for.
We got the better quality control no doubt, but super articulation was no longer consistent, and the intricate details were seen less and less. |
Why not have the lines go hand in hand for a few rounds?
Like some of the alien species and mystical stuff especially after civil war, and brand new day. And war of kings. Even a spaceknights run, or ROM figure. Though personally, I just want a DarkHawk figure in both already. The lines don't have to be mutually exclusive though, just throw in some stuff to appeal to all kinds of fans and kids more. Like a legends darkhawk with all the power up armanents in War of Kings, and more simplistic MU figures of his first and now latest outfit for him. As an example. Then again who knows how long it'll be till certain legends get made. Which does suck for those who want certain teams only in that regard, or have collected them all so far too. I love the small scale, but I may be apt to pick a legends or two up of certain favorites. With Wolverine after wolverine coming out, it's hard to follow when those favorites get made though. The two packs idea kinda works, but it might be easier to pull a DCUC move and just go to boxsets as well. Like all of X-force, the fantastic4, avengers west coast, etc. New warriors then and now, with justice, firestar, darkhawk, and nova prime. Some characters are just so sought after, all scales at once wouldn't matter. It's a tough balance since I like both lines when new characters get made. |

Renegade's right, he did the first version of IM and by extension all the other figures based off that initial mold.
