MOTUC Update From Toy Guru
|
That was painful to read. The whole lack of real communication over the last month has been a slap in the face, and then we get a (late) half-hearted apology and a "promise" to do better.
And I love how one of his examples of what an awesome line this has been was the Star Sisters set. So while he's trying to threaten and guilt us into buying a subscription next year, he's listing probably the biggest reason I didn't buy one this year. I like this line alot, but they make it really hard for me to. |
MattyCollector really has little idea how to market, sell and distribute this line successfully. They talk a big game about how awesome the lien is doing, yet then talk about how terribly things are selling and the need to cut production runs. The more they push these subscriptions as the sole way to buy the figures, the more people will simply bail on the line all together.
|
Guru- "At the end of the day, (and I know I have said this before), despite shipping delays and the occasional quality problem, we are all flipping getting new MOTUC figures every month! Seriously! Do you ever take a step back and just look at your MOTUC shelf?"
..maybe they should just go back to not communicating. |
Toy Guru is not the ideal PR guy in any way, shape or form. They need to remember that they aren't doing us some kind of favor by producing these guys. They're a business and they aren't doing their best to make sure the business is as profitable and as marketable as possible. They decided to focus on a continuously dwindling niche section of the fanbase, instead of focusing on expanding the fanbase as a whole. By pushing the Subscription only model, and then berating people who voice genuine problems with it, is simply bad business.

How can they ask people not to nit-pick, when 60% of the figures I have bought have had some kind of quality control issue. From bad paint apps, to the damb rubber bands deforming the swords, do they even check if the way they package a figure is going to rub the paint off, or scratch their accesories?. And really his highlight for the sub is the Star Sisters, Really, is this the same moron that thought the spector would be a great figure, because he created it?

The news does blow. I finally just received my Demo Man and BGEL. Sounds like a bunch of scare tactics. Well it works. It was nearly impossible to get MOTUC figs at the day of sale last year. Even with the day off I could not be assured that I could get what I wanted. With even less day of sale stock, getting a sub is the only way to go. Hopefully it will raise the value of the figs and sets we do not want so we can sell them. I for one will not be opening my Star Sisters 3 pack. I see no need for it. I really just want them to make the few remaining core characters so I can stop collecting this line.
