Voltron: Red Lion and Lance

First Look at Voltron: Red Lion/Lance

Greenskar 01-24-2012 02:59 PM

Holy crap! 23" is huuuge!

As cool as this is I don't know if it's worth the investment for me considering I already own Toynami's masterpiece Voltron (die cast version)

blasekbh 01-24-2012 03:39 PM

Blah I want it but that damn "figure sold separately" just made my wallet cringe.

NoodleChow 01-24-2012 03:50 PM

yeah and the sword pieces come with the figures so even if you just wanted to build voltron only, it'd be unarmed =\

perrych 01-24-2012 05:16 PM

Can you buy these if you don't have a subscription?

Yup. Only thing you can't get without the sub is Sven, the original pilot of the blue lion.

Solrac333 01-24-2012 06:39 PM

No die cast, no buy.

benzo 01-24-2012 08:23 PM

do you need the key to transform the Lion? I don't want the figures and I can live with Voltron being unarmed.

thechris 01-25-2012 02:23 AM

I already ordered mine. I can't wait to get them in my hands. Part of the reason I ordered it was that it's something I can look forward to all year piece by piece. Secondly, it looks awesome. :) I'm not a huge Voltron fan, never watched the show and I only had the fat guy in the yellow suit and red lion (which broke) which were second handed to me from a relative and a number of mini-Voltron robot figures that I kept getting for my birthday that I knew nothing about. LOL. Gonna be sooo cool.

iLegends73 01-25-2012 02:32 AM

wait now its "figure sold separately" again? 1st it was then it wasnt now it is again?

MegaPrime33 01-25-2012 05:16 AM

I miss diecast. These look too plasticy for my taste. It makes me think when combined voltron will be flimsy and light. No chrome either!

Jason Abbadon 01-25-2012 09:06 AM

I know!
They could have at least gone with chromed or silver paint!
I need to see the connection points for Voltron on this- if they're plastic...it's be the first thing to break, and will be awful.
A one-armed Voltron is a tragedy I dont need to see.

I'd actually prefer silver paint after my experience with the masterpiece die cast Voltron. The chrome flaked off the leg of the black lion when I pulled Voltron's yellow lion leg off to re-package him.

Can that be repaired?

Optimus Vader 01-25-2012 09:34 AM

The pilots were always "sold separately" and the costs haven't changed since this was first announced. The pilots are "sold separately," but will be up for sale at the same time as it's corresponding lion, so they will ship together.

I have no idea why they're sold seperately though. I guess there could be people who would only want the figures and not the lions? ..because I believe you do need the key to transform them. I'm sure there are ways around the key thing, but that's how it's supposed to work.

Easily- there's a few amazing chrome paints out there...but if the part is too tight for the socket, it'll just happen all over.

Greenskar 01-25-2012 11:18 AM

I do think the socket was too tight. I could just keep him forever in Voltron mode...but I'd still be aware of the discrepancy :(

Why would you want to take him out of voltron mode anyway? :)

Strictly for picture purposes of the lions, lol

Jason Abbadon 01-25-2012 12:05 PM

But the lions suck so hard!
Those twiggy little stumps for legs...they're pretty damn laughable.

At least with the vehicle Voltron you have little ships and cars to screw around with.

Nahhhhh...I'm going to make them the personal pets of TFC Toys Hercules! ;)

Since tomorrow is Matty Day and I bought this damn Voltron sub, I was looking into when it's coming. These boners say that sub-buyers will get their stuff shipped a few days before the sale date, but mine still hasn't shipped... there goes Matty and his/their poor communication skills again. Maybe the ToyGuru will post a Facebook message telling us that we're stupid again. Anyway, one plus that I've come across that seemed to be a flip/flopping type of deal with these is below. The pilots do come with the Lions... if anyone gives a shit.

Each lion comes as a set with its corresponding pilot, individually packaged and shipped with its partner in a single box. This set includes the Red Lion and the pilot Lance. They are not sold separately.

How much are they outside of the sub?
