Micro Machines vs Boglins Round 1

Micro Machines

Galoob's infamous Micro Machines line started out in 1987 and had toys come out as late as 2007. It featured tiny vehicles and was meant to be a kids alternative to the more collectors oriented Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. It also featured some well known licensed vehicles (and even figures), such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Terminator, Predator and more. The line is, perhaps, best remembered for its commercials featuring the fast talking John Moschitta Jr.

Boglins were a series of hand puppets, and later mini figures. Mattel's ghoulish line was characterized by the build and control you had of the puppets. Each character came in a box that looked like it was trying to break free from. They were popular enough that Kellog's even featured them as part of their on-box advertising in 1989. The toys ran in the late 80's until about 1990. Mattel revived the line for a short time in 2000.

First vote, yay!!!

Easy pick for me, MicroMachines. I collect diecast vehicles on and off since I was kid.

Never cared for Boglins, did nothing for me.

I smell another TF vs. SW butt whipping.......

trebleshot 04-23-2012 08:35 AM

Micro Machines, no question. Loved that toy line. And John Moschitta, Jr. FTW!!

(Also the voice of Blurr in both Transformers G1 and Animated, among many other VA roles).

Man, as much as I loved Boglins, and still do to this day, they just can't compete with Micro Machines when it comes to playability. I had so many Micro Machines is was ridiculous.

KingLouie731 04-23-2012 09:17 AM

micro machines by a mile

Robogeek28 04-23-2012 09:25 AM

Micromachines all the way.

Exodus 04-23-2012 10:39 AM

This will be a slam dunk win for Micro machines.

Starscream99 04-23-2012 11:31 AM

I don't remember boglins so I went with Micro Machines.

FancyPants 04-23-2012 11:55 AM

I missed my micro machines. Had all the star wars, army, star trek. everything.

Xcaliber037 04-23-2012 12:01 PM

I still have micro machines from back in the day. They're still great.

LeChap 04-23-2012 12:22 PM

There were PREDATOR Micro Machines? Upon further research, there were also Alien sets.

Did they not realise both films were 18 (R) rated?

the predator ones were similar to action fleet. the arms had some movement and a hinged leg thing. It was kinda cool.

BigHanksCustoms 04-23-2012 12:48 PM

MicroMachines is making Transformers look merciful.......

Boba Fettuccini 04-23-2012 02:22 PM

I still collect that Star Wars Micros. I grew up on the normal ones... Hasbro should never have let Micro Machines die after they bought Galoob...

bmorr 04-23-2012 03:44 PM

i dont know what the hell a boglin is, so im definitly going with micro machines.

Spacemafia 04-23-2012 05:51 PM

Micro Machines! John Moschitta! I had a ton of these as a kid. That, and I love cars. Easy decision for me.

LXL_Guy 04-23-2012 07:44 PM

Wow...Micro Machines take the cake this round.

I voted for Micro Machines too. I remember owning a few as a kid. What are Blogins though???

JustryGT 04-23-2012 08:09 PM

I won't argue against Micromachines winning this round and I voted for them. Boglins are still a good contender because they became somewhat popular in the late '80s and they were fun for little boys that liked gross looking things like Garbage Pail Kids trading cards. I remember Boglins as rubbery puppets with movable eyes . They were most useful when you wanted to scare mom, sis, or grandma on random occasions . I suspect many boys lost the privilege of owning them when they took them to school or used them as boxing gloves .

yourfacehere 04-23-2012 10:14 PM

Dude, I never was allowed to get the micros as a kid "too much money for something too small" but I did get an exclusive five pack of multicolored ones! Loved them all, there was a red corvette with the top down, a black one with flames, a yellow street race car, a green buggy, and a purple sedan. They were AWESOME.

Shin Densetsu 04-24-2012 01:00 AM

Micro Machines wins this one for me. Anyone remember the military ones from the 90's? THOSE were awesome! Even an aircraft carrier!

Same here. I had a nice stack of about 8 - 10 of them when I was a kid. The little cages they came with were perfect for displaying them. My sister and I would fight over which one belong to whom.
