Well, looks like the Avengers and Spiderman lines may be going down but MU is still the red headed step child thanks to ML.

Agreed...but I am curious as to what is put out in the display...has that been shown yet??

Snowflakian 07-14-2012 05:55 PM

MU is still strong enough.

Okay we got 4 slides. Big deal. None of those slides even talked about the figures in the case that are new. So MU is fine. They've still got material they are figuring out for future waves. Add in all the excess stuff because retailers have been ordering more heavily on the movie lines, and you have a good leeway to save stuff for NYCC for fans or Toy Fair 2013 to push it on retailers.

Especially when you consider how many figures can be made from the newer bucks like Norman Osborn, Purple man, red she-hulk, savage she-hulk, Marcus Johnson, etc.

They did show off mysterio and Elektra in the case too among others.

I am excited about Emma though. Maybe they will head in the direction of AvX and start doing some of the P5 costumes :)

I don't know where you're looking, but I see a lot of Foundation for the Future in the case itself.

Lots of figures to look forward too. Even FF Doom, and a second chance to grab FF spider-man besides all the other new figures like Mysterio, Elektra, a new rhino sculpt plus the Purpleman and norman osborn they had in the dio(though those two might just be customs).

That right there looks like the start of either the later series 3 waves, or the beginning of the series 4 waves.

No slides, oh well, it was all on display anyway for new products. What they showed were mostly prototype slides like they do every year. MU is long from dead, at least until 2014.

Short of modern quasar and Red She-hulk. I've got everything I want coming already anyway. So I'm good if MU does end, but looking at the facts and marketing alongside retailers and their habits. MU looks safe as can be until 2014 minimum.

With the new Hulk toon coming, I expect we might see some more hulk family figures at NYCC. At least it'd be the smart thing to help bolster MU even more later in 2013.

Case in point. Junky rage.

And they did mention that Marvel universe would be easier to come by,so perhaps some older waves will get re-released.We also got people here like Badmoon,Veronica mars, symbiote and the rest of the custom crew who are constantly coming up with excellent custom's.So MU aint going anywhere for a while yet.

Trolls will be trolls. Hope you have fun when others get sick of you insulting the user base here when trying to be funny (mean spirited funny isn't funny, it just makes you a bully).

Meh, so what if 2 figures I want don't get made when everything else. I'd like them sure, but in comparison we have 30+ MU on the way, and what? Like half that for ML?

Yeah, I'd say MU is safe in comparison, along with how they'll still be slotting in older figures for revisions for those that missed figures. MU is too much of a staple now on store shelves. Even if they made no new molds for a year, that line would probably still sell. Whereas high volume of ML eventually will shelf warm unless they release the variants no one was able to get. Which in turn will make the ML aftermarket drop in price and cause fan riots and bitching from those that did get the early ones.

Though I would like to see that to see the scalper rage that follows. xD

Yeah, I've got a few ideas for customs myself thanks to Symbiote. Now if I could only find 2 Avengers movie black widows and a ghost rider figure. xD

bitman2 07-14-2012 06:34 PM

After thinking about it more I guess I will just believe that MU is just backlogged at this time. We have a ton of figures to come this year. and I Hope this is Hasbro just playing catch up.

How's that X23 fetish working for ya?

Pretty well since it funds my MU collection so my wallet doesn't take the burden anymore. Plus it's really awesome having a marvel character who has a name that's my birthday. Dude, and if I wanted to, I could write off comics as a business expense now. xD I'm still under the tax bracket on that though, so no need yet, but I really look forward to that day just for giggles.

And my line is safe for the forseeable future. So I'm good with that. If anything, it just means I can redirect those funds elsewhere.

Nexodusrex 07-14-2012 07:53 PM

i'm seeing alot of talk saying that right now we are in series 3. we arent. we are in Series 4.

Series 1 : Fury Files, Fury on the back
Series 2 : Hammer Files, Osborn on the Back
Series 3 : Steve Rogers, Rogers on the Back
Series 4 : Random guys on back and comic pictures on front.

SERIES 4. the fact that they(Hasbro) call it series 3 depresses the shit out of me cause it shows these guys dont give a shit about mu.

maybe NYCC, sombody will have the balls to stand up and ask "What was up with the SDCC Panel?

Series 3 and 4 kind of blended together into just all series 3. When the tail end of series 3 switched to what would have been the series 4 card styling, it kind of fubared up perception of what's which series.

I aree with you though. New card stylings = new series.

Trainwreck 07-14-2012 09:14 PM

PeteParker and I talked to Dwight a lot about MU. Apparently they messed up royally by bringing old prototypes of three or more figures (and an entire team he said). So they had to pull their pictures out of the presentation cause they didnt have the toys to put in the cAse.

You heard it here first folks. Further conversation led me to believe the MU team MAY be Alpha Flight (but that is just speculation).

NoodleChow 07-14-2012 09:17 PM

hmmmm when you said entire team, immediately thought alpha flight based on the sasquatch pic on the back of the x-men 3 pack. would love to see how NYCC turns out now.

So in otherwords... NYCC is going to have one hell of a showing. =D

So I should scrap my Vindicator, Box and marina customs?

NAAAAAAAA!

Snowflakian 07-14-2012 10:15 PM

Seems we do have confirmation of 2013 waves coming in the display at SDCC.

I didn't read the cards before, but Mysterio is set for wave 1 of 2013 with a spring 2013 release.

Can't see elektra's clear enough to tell if she's in that same wave, but that's still a good sign if there is a planned wave 1 2013 in the works.

They literally said "we will be a lot more prepared and have a lot of new things to show at NYCC" to PeteParker and I at the booth. They also revealed to the two of us who the packaging artists are going to be. Pete took notes so I think he has that info.

Almost certain Ed Mcguinness is one of them.

Also Fin Fang Foom isn't cancelled. He was going to be the con exclusive but they changed it really late to make something specifically Avengers themed. They saw this as the summer of Avengers and wanted to ride that wave.

They are looking for a home for Foom and they will likely have some more info in New York.

I need to try to get back to NYCC. I had a blast there last year.

I asked Jesse Falcon point blank about 2013. He said there would be new waves the entire year.

Also the distribution question was finally answered. We heard two different answers though. The one I was told at the panel was that they shipped too much Early Series 4 stuff before the Avengers movie and the movie toys and Legends had MU peg warming as many collectors went to those other lines.

In the future they want to make sure ML and movie lines don't consume MU lines by not shipping it in a huge hurry right before the summer (see Thor/Iron Fist wave).

But Pete was told something else...

Awesome! Can't wait to hear more. Yeah that makes sense about riding the hype while they can. Plus hopefully it means the retail foom will be green.

I wish I could go to NYCC this year now. xD For the forseeable future though I'm just saying ef New York altogether and reveling in Red vs Blue's Texas shooting york in the crotch with his own gun and then flips him off literally. (Which would be my new avatar if I didn't feel too lazy about making it. xD)

Nothing against any of you from NY, it's a long story.

Typical life BS stuff that's too long to explain and entails too much drama to bother nor do I want to give reason for the cause to carry over to here where I can still enjoy myself and have peace.

The shortest explanation is it involves why I can't sign into TFW2005 anymore even though I'm not banned. Doing that removes the headache, lies, and BS completely, as does never going to NY itself. Which is why I probably shouldn't have brought it up. Exciting day, and I just forgot myself for a moment.
