Thanks Tony for clarifying

dukefett 05-07-2020 09:36 AM

I'm not even a Spawn fan, I've just been following this process so much, but I don't feel like dropping $200 on 3 figures I'm barely interested in lol. I think I'm just going to pass; it seems literally tons of these will be made and probably won't be too difficult to find on the aftermarket if I change my mind for some reason.

Enzo52 05-07-2020 10:29 AM

I’m just being honest here but I ordered this just to have more accessories for my Mortal Kombat Spawn...

Zeorn 05-07-2020 01:27 PM

This thing is still going up. It is going to hit 20,000 backers and is already 2.8+ million. Could potentially hit 3 million. Wonder if he'll throw in another bonus right at the end.

He should just start putting out a line of capes. Is your Spawn going out to a formal dinner, then have we got the perfect formal cape for you. For people buying the 3 pack or even more of these and only having 1 cape look, for shame.

Gmonkey2k 05-07-2020 02:15 PM

I have no clue what to go for.

If you pick one, go for Classic Spawn!
That's what this kickstarter started out as.
Modern is mostly Classic with some add on's and kinda needs the 3-pack to become more accurate with the spikey gauntlet... And Modern doesn't have the masked head, not even in the 3 pack.

Mordiganne 05-07-2020 09:22 PM

3+ million and still climbing with over half a day to go! That's impressive no matter how you slice it. (+another 3,000 in the time it took to post this, and people think Spawn isn't a popular character haha)

I'm glad I backed and backed big. Can't wait to get these in. Still remember my first Spawn comic; #1, first print...ugh if only I'd kept that in good condition. These are the kind of nostalgia buys I don't mind making. Money comes and goes, my personal happiness is priceless.

Oh, that changes things then for me. :)
I might have to look at supporting this now.
So the figure is now a standard neutral pose? It's not that hideous pre-posed but articulated figure that would look goofy in any pose but the pre-posed pose despite being articulated?

Edit: Good Lord! $17 shipping??? How big is this thing that shipping is $17 on top of the figure being $40 (which is pricey for a toy from America)???

Watch the video on the main campaign page. The display sample is the size of a large shoebox and the actual boxes the figures will be coming in are likely to end up a fair bit larger than that to accommodate the signature plate, extra heads & weapons, clam shelled figure, the giant cape, etc.

I'm paying almost $50 myself in shipping, but nothing to complain about. Shipping costs money... Plus I'm already used to paying stupidly high shipping costs for Sideshow items. I don't even bat an eye at shipping costs anymore, just pay and move on. There's more important stuff to actually worry about in life.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not saying for anyone to pay and shut up or the like. Just that my personal philosophy is shipping prices are a way of life and the people that work to delivery these items to my doorstep deserve to make money the same as anyone else.

I feel like revoltech or something similar is the only thing that could properly emulate multiple dynamic posing options for Spawn’s cape without it being just a static piece. If a third party company is listening PLEASE make it happen.

Interesting idea but I think majority of most, not all, collectors think negatively of a revoltech cape. I had suggested a few posts back that the cape should be layered, building off the concept of the original, a main central cape that covers the shoulders, much like the MK11 scuplt and either a larger cape or 2 segments like wings for manipulation when its extended. I've thought of possibly the use of metal wire and magnets to help create some dynamic cloak/cape geometry, securing the wing pieces to the main. The general concerns for all these ideas is durability and longevity (loose wires and joints, dust, paint rub, stress marks).

Anyways, happy to see we get the painted sword, interesting how it played along with the MK11 Spawn 2nd wave edition does not have the sword but a mace? Since we're in the homestretch and small updates, would be great if Todd announces that the necro-effects though clear have a glow in the dark application. Would be awesome if some of the unmasked heads have the same glow in the dark effect for their eyes but retaining the neon metallic bright green for it to pop naturally. But think its set and overall as an improved anniversary retro, its excellent. Hope the shipping cost protects the whole package making this a memorable mint collectible item.

Comedian 05-08-2020 03:45 AM

Amazon spoils us with free shipping. Go ship a hot wheels across country and tell me what the price is. You’ll be shocked.

Gmonkey2k 05-08-2020 06:59 AM

Look's like I'm missing out on this...

Mordiganne 05-08-2020 07:13 AM

Backers keep flooding in. I joined as soon as I saw the articulation update (my first kickstarter backing) and have added more figures as the upgrades kept coming. I still might add more... But I want more of these miniature 3rd party G1 style Transformers I just discovered. Decisions...

I recommend, if you have the chance by any means, take it and get one now while the price is affordable. Once this closes your only option will be secondary market at whatever they decide to re-sell for.

Comedian 05-08-2020 07:49 AM

Over 3 million! Now the FOMO kicks in.( Fear of missing out.) happened with the sail barge as well.

Well they constantly produce those legends scale 3P transformers if that's what you're into.

AceSimulacrum 05-08-2020 12:58 PM

Tracking the comments on the Kickstarter, seems people haven't read all the updates, just all piling in for the first time in the last 12 hours. So Todd owes us? Thinking add-ons after the campaign ends? Usually have a week or so for final adjustments to any KS campaign. Maybe a render of the next campaign for the next figure(s) he will campaign for? But amazing 3.4M...if he does some sort of add-on option could be a bit more.

I ended up just going with both. Only 1 additional figure on top of the first pledge, though...ran out of time to add more.

He already said no to any add-ons/buying more of anything after it closes. The last bonus is just more icing on the 3mil intake. Can't wait to see what it will be!

Comedian 05-08-2020 01:17 PM

Well, I think that’s a big win. Almost 3.5 million, he only needed 100k and thought 500k would be great. I hope Todd sees how hungry adult collectors are.

dukefett 05-08-2020 03:17 PM

I think to be fair, they inflated a this by a lot by forcing the 3 pack to get everything. $3.5 million is really impressive, but how many people would've dropped the artist proof figure if they could get every other item in the other 2 figure releases?

Apparently not many. The only thing really exclusive to the trilogy is the arm gauntlet on the modern figure. The only thing that was exclusive to the artist proof was the necro sword which ended up painted with the classic. People got the trilogy because they wanted it. I got it because I wanted a classic and artist proof 2pack but it wasn't offered so the trilogy just made sense over making a second account. Edit: Then I went back and added more. Twice. The numbers are what they are. I can't wait to paint the artist proof!

Edit 2: From the latest update video we might be getting a lot more bonus items for this. Half a million was his dream goal. Wow, the fan support is huge. I hope we get a Mandarin Spawn at some point down the road.

warmachine6 05-08-2020 11:43 PM

When it comes to kickstarters , and i see something intresting i at least wait 2 to 1 days till it closes. So that i can see if "freebies" might be good or bad.

Spaiderman 05-09-2020 11:28 AM

The original torso was straight !!!

From Nikita Lebedev Art facebook

Spawn I sculpted for McFarlane Toys just finished its Kickstarter journey with a whopping success. I've sculpted the classic version (didn't do all the extra heads and weapons). The cape got changed significantly as well. It was a fun project overall, really happy I got to work on it (and secured a Classic copy on Kickstarter for myself as well 😁

Nikita Lebedev Art Jason DX I hear you Jason! It would make sense to have a straight torso as one of the perks. I can suggest it but I'm pretty sure Todd will stay his course here... Besides the Kickstarter is over and all the bonus perks are locked in

I've read many comments about people really wanting the 3 pack only so they would have an accurate modern Spawn, they really bought the 3 pack for that arm gauntlet.
