I couldn't disagree more.
Among many other things, I couldn't stand how Mattel made hips.
Say what you will about "McFarlane diapers", but Mattel's figure's articulation was trash.
They're some of the ugliest figures I own.
I thought about selling most of what I have of Mattel figures, but I don't think they'd be worth selling.

That's not to say that McFarlane Toys figures are perfect either, but I still like seeing what the company made.

Double Post

ThorOdinson123 02-28-2025 03:07 PM

Toy Fair starts tomorrow lets hope Todd reveals some new stuff and talks about the Mattel getting the brand back as well

snake5289 02-28-2025 03:13 PM

Hopefully he can keep doing these while Mattel does 6 inch and Spin Master keeps 4 inch.

IzzyTipsy 02-28-2025 07:00 PM

So we're going back to 6"? Or will they remain 7"?

Skoob 02-28-2025 07:36 PM

I'm happy for the change. I just hope they do a nice job with some of my favorite characters. I'm so tired of ugly stuff. And it would help if Hollywood would get a lobotomy.

IzzyTipsy 02-28-2025 07:41 PM

I bet the line will still be Batman centric.

I wonder if this basically kills sales for Gunn DCU stuff? Figures you by for Superman will basically be useless with figures from Laterns and Supergirl and whatever else is coming.

hasbroherofan 02-28-2025 07:48 PM

Mattel will likely just make Superman movie merchandise of their own at some point. Even McFarlane went back to make toys from the older movies like BVS to go with the more recent stuff they were doing.

I agree

IzzyTipsy 03-01-2025 05:50 AM

If they're Masterverse quality they'll be OK. But still below Legends quality.

damn looks like todd is finally giving us some really unique figures.
i guess he's trying to go out with a bang and i'm liking what i'm seeing so far.

jayvee 03-01-2025 09:27 AM

Hourman (for a golden age collector like me), Supergirl, Gordon and Hawkgirl are must buys for me. Two femmes shown. Wow. Stunner. Maybe I'll eventually get Zatanna before the switch.

ThorOdinson123 03-01-2025 09:35 AM

If Todd shows more than one Female he could finish all the heavy hitters before 2026

Atomsmasher 03-01-2025 09:39 AM

Outside of mech batman most of those are buys for me.

Joe Moore 03-01-2025 09:51 AM

We will have a ton of pics from McFarlane shortly. Tony B is at his scheduled appointment now.

ThorOdinson123 03-01-2025 09:57 AM

don't know what the point of this is TOdd when you can just get the regular CE version of Terrific.

saw that and wow they made a justice league action cartoon terrific as a red platinium... odd choice.

Mattel were updating engineering toward the end of their run with Multiverse. I hope they at least just pick up where they left off with engineering and continue to improve from there. Considering how good the Jurassic Park/World stuff is and how many people are saying MOTU is fantastic, I have some hope we will get stuff close to Marvel Legends quality (which isn't that hard since that's a low bar at the moment).

ThorOdinson123 03-01-2025 11:54 AM

Starman and Damage are red Platinum figures too which means only in stores

IzzyTipsy 03-01-2025 12:29 PM

That Supergirl is gonna sellout ASAP.

graphyt 03-01-2025 04:18 PM

Supergirl looks fantastic and feel like that the perfect classic Superman people have been wanting. Especially if there's a shield on the cape.

On the Mattel topic, personally I think the only redeeming value with late stage Mattel DC was being 6 inch. McFarlane have had more sculpting, more articulation, more paint, and even vehicles. For basically the same price. Go watch reviews for those last few years, the figured were awful and frequently bargain bin. Mattel just looked and felt like kids toys. The golden era was DCUC, but those used the same single joined 4H body as infinite repaints. The Shazam movie figures were acceptable, so maybe they pick up from there but McFarlane is a private company, Mattel is going to have the demands of raising prices and drop quality. Hope I'm wrong or Todd keeps 7 inch. I need a BVS Batmobile.

jayvee 03-01-2025 06:02 PM

Haven't seen pictures of the figure, but it looks like one of the boxes says Phantasm on it. That would be an immediate buy. And that was a great animated feature.

ThorOdinson123 03-01-2025 06:10 PM

I just hope Todd will say something in the coming days or at SDCC. I would love to hear him and Mattel reached an agreement that he does 7 inch they do 6 inch and kiddie stuff

jayvee 03-01-2025 06:16 PM

I wouldn't be against a split of the license. I like a lot of the mctoys dc multiverse. I have no interest in starting over with a new company, scale, and reissues of figs i already own.

Edit
I would add that I have a lot of batman hot wheels cars, like really a lot. Multiple versions of each. And that's mattel/ hot wheels. I also like the larger scale die cast scale batman vehicles. The batmobile from DKR is great. So maybe this will mean some sort of expansion? Or the line will continue to see new waves? Maybe? Anyone? Beuhler? Love the Johnny Lightning Bat vehicles and I've got a complete set of those.
