Good call Kam.. My predictions were WAY off... Which I like because that's what's so great about this line... You have so many characters to pick and choose from, including mainstays like cap with different looks.
I've been quick to criticize hasbro in the past so I'll give them praise with what was shown today. We've been begging to use the old bucks and/or add torso/diaphragm articulation and they have somewhat. That vulture figure was shameful and that buck should be retired. Hopefully hasbro keeps this up with the Jim lee cyclops and Hercules buck, or at least keeps the torso artic. Is JJ a new sculpt? When I first saw "JJ" I was thinking of Jameson lol

I'm surprised no one has pointed out what looks like the return of torso artic on the ANAD Cap. EDIT: Nevermind. Kilroy did on the previous page.

That's for sure!!! I can't wait to get some of those stockpiled.

I totally think Hasbro deserves some love for SDCC this year in terms of what they've done for this line. I'm extremely happy with all of these figures. They've been on fire with choosing all of my favorite characters so far.

I really hope they finally stick with the old bucks. They've already made the perfect one's, so there's no point in making new one's that are mediocre at best. I especially love seeing the Herc buck.

The one buck I hope they never use again is the new Spider-Man buck. It's absolutely terrible.

Yeah but those poor underworked, overpaid figure sculptors need the money soooooooooo bad!
:D

On a side note, I know it's a pipe dream, but I'd be over the moon if Hasbro re-released this Maria Hill. I'll never be able to afford the helicarrier and I don't want to invest a significant amount of money for the Hill figure. If they bring 3 packs back they could do a SHIELD 3 pack with Hill, the generic SHIELD agent from the Soldiers and Henchman 3 pack, and the Mail-Away Nick Fury. It would take the value away from all three figures, but it would be really cool. But like I said, it's just a pipe dream.

Really digging the Jessica Jones!!! Always need more classic Avengers! I don't know who Hydra Cap is, but I like his knees a lot. I take it the "suited" Moonknight was the one we saw on Wednesday?

Also, I have a few of that Maria figure....easily hands down the best figure I own!!!! Love love love her!

ukmu 07-23-2016 09:41 PM

Lastly... I finally had to Google what ANAD meant.

I was gonna say the same thing about Cap's knees but that would be kind of awkward.

Hydra Cap is from the ANAD Cap storyline where he was supposedly a Hydra agent from the very beginning. I assumed everyone here knew about the whole fiasco since the internet exploded over it even though it was obviously some dumb event that could be explained with the usual comic book explanation.

Just thought I'd remind everyone here not to immediately jump on the SDCC Collector set. I have a feeling that in the aftermath of the SDCC hype acquiring them will be as easy as requiring the SDCC Marvel Universe Infinity Gauntlet set. If you stalk eBay for a decent amount of time you should be able to find a very good bargain for it.

redfox 07-23-2016 10:50 PM

Poor Groot! They had to dismantle his legs to get him to fit in the bubble of that 2-pack. :D

I can tell you're a more positive person. But as a 4 inch collector there has been an undoubted drop in quality since Dwight took over, and criticising that isn't really a bad thing. I mean, if you really believe they read these threads and what we say might sway them, then saying 'everything's great' would be a mistake wouldn't it?

It's more than Snarky, it's name calling. And there were worse remarks in there than that too including admittance of wanting to actively harass Hasbro with obscene things.

I haven't been saying everything's great, I've been saying I see that Hasbro is trying new things, and yes, cutting corners to balance budgets for bigger pushes later. Pushes we seem to be seeing now in the planned upcoming releases. What you call 'quality drops' I call expanding on the roster of sculpts and cost balancing. I see none of this "quality drop" though on figures like the Jane Foster Thor. Other than no wrist articulation, she has more articulation than what's normal for figures of women in the line. So it's been a fluctuating thing on trying to figure out which characters need the extra articulation, and which can slide with minimal. Compare modern 3.75'' to the first wave Punisher figure or Black Panther figure, or even Ironman.

Would you call that a decline or would you call that an improvement? I'd say improvement. Sculpting detail has gone up. Variety is better. Durability is top-notch, though QC is still an occasional issue. And they're finding ways to balance the articulation for more dynamic poses.

Compare the first Ms. Marvel figures to the Captain Marvel figure. Outside of wrist articulation, which power effects from that first one will cover up anyway, the new one is better detailed and has a more vibrant pose capability. Granted at least one form of waist articulation would have been nice, though the original figure had too much articulation in the waist. The original's arms couldn't really do much in the way of vibrant poses either with how limited her arms were.

Also have to say, this showing off of Monica Rambeau is a welcome sign if it means they're going to do more Ultimates characters. It could mean America Chavez isn't that far away either.

Heck, even comparing the two vision figures. The newer one seems superior to me.

I agree that Hasbro should get some praise for this year. A lot of welcome surprises that suggest some great figures coming up later.

Tend to agree on that Spider-man buck too, but it's also a figure by figure thing. Some characters need the extra articulation, some don't. Spider-man though is one of those that does. I'm skipping the modern scarlet spider figures for now because of the fact he's not quite at where's needed.

I do like this newer trend though of mixing the standards they've been using for figures. We're getting the detailing of the new molds like Jewel and others, but also still getting the older wider articulation. This cost cutting method seems to be balancing well overall to give us some great full new sculpt figures still too like Hydra Cap and the new Ironman. AOA Magneto looks like a mostly new sculpt entirely too.

Even if All-New Wolverine looks like they used the original X-23 mold, they gave it a new head and new lower legs. It's done so outstandingly well you barely even notice it's 90% the same figure they released before but painted differently.

It looks like whatever the hiccup was that was holding the line back, finally got worked out and they're not petrified of making good figures that will sell.

But I still don't get how hard it is to say:
"Hey hasbro, please bring back wrist articulation, and ab-crunch or waist swivel and thank you for giving more women characters swivel arms finally."

As opposed to saying "Hey hasbro, you're ruining and deliberately killing this line because you hate us! Your employees are smurfs and I'm going to send you obscene and nasty messages until you cave into my demands."

Do you see the difference? Which one will actually get you what you want to buy as a consumer and which one will get you blatantly ignored?

One points out the problems, and helps them along, the other shows you as a spoiled child throwing a tantrum and trying to harass them or rile up harassment by others to throw insults at them too.

What has Hasbro genuinely done to deserve treatment like that except try to give us figures of characters we love in the scale we love? Even Mattel doesn't get this kind of vitriol and the way they did figures was so 90s it hurt. V-Cut female figures for their legs. No elbows at all for Harley Quinn, and worse.

Full new sculpt it looks like. Unsure on wrist articulation though.
So yeah, looks like it's still one of the current standard style ones.

Hope so, but they would have shown it unless they are saving it for NYCC.

hoping more are included in that spidey line-up namely kingpin!!!seeing tombstone give one hope!!!!

I was thinking the same thing on the thor and hulk reveals. And with how much Marvel has been pushing that movie, I could see them wanting an excellent toy line to go with it. But "spoilers" being the obvious reason why they can't show anything much this early.

JJ/Jewel is exciting! No way we would have gotten that figure if not for the interest created in the character because of the Netflix series!

This heavy focus on All-New Marvel for the 3.75'' line has me really happy overall.

Really hope Nico Minoru/Sister Grim, America Chavez and Young Avengers v1 costume Kate Bishop Hawkeye are soon too!

Makes me need to go back over my character checklist to see who I still want/need for figures now.

And that Maestro figure, omg that's an excellent reusage of parts from the apocalypse figure with some new sculpt pieces!

And so glad I can skip buying that UK spider-man since it won't be a comic pack. I want every character of that wave but that one. And wave 2 looks like nothing but awesome too! Those monica rambeau jacket arms give me so much hope for an America Chavez figure soon! Plus it's her outfit from the Ultimates comic too! So maybe a new Black Panther figure is on the way, along with Blue Marvel too.

so perhaps we may get a mixture of movie and comic figs like they did with the cap america and avengers lines,so potentially comic odin, comic style warrior 3,skurge,and maybe just maybe a warband???
i can see people using that maestro body for odin customs if we dont get one with the ragnorok line.noticed that maestro and co are pegged for 2017 release but will they be released in the fall?and do you think they will reveal more at NYCC?because it would be sweet to have kingpin and hammerhead in that spidey line and its nice to see an updated shocker for those who didnt get the original, thought we would have gotten a purpleman to go with that JJ figure.
