hey the Toy Biz Phoenix was one of the better female molds, even. and yet, yeah Hasbro's blows her away.

Toy Biz had a huge problem with the female sculpts much more so than the male sculpts. Not as bad as she-male drug addict Rogue but still...

Dont forget over-colligened lips elektra. Though tb did make my favorite version of ironfist and a badass pyro...and gave motorcycles to both ghost riders and vengance ( cough HASBRO DIDNT cough ) ;)

And ironically neither version of pahoenix can stand worth a spit. ;)

Well it works perfectly then since those were the two costumes she had in X-men TAS. Everyone knows her actual mutant power is fainting, so just have her falling down a lot.

LapuLapu 02-28-2017 03:52 PM

Found 3 out of the 4 I wanted from the new Xmen wave, Cyclops can wait , My Toybiz Cyclops the one that came with a motorcycle still is awesome.

So many people are having problems finding Cyclops, knew he was going to be the difficult one to find. Everyone wants that TAS/Jim Lee Blue Team look.

Cyclops and Shatterstar were the leftovers of my Target run today...

That's a really bad generalization, as many of them are perfectly fine and hold up quite well.

If anything the gorilla arms are often caused by the fact that many of ToyBiz's figures had articulated fingers and hands, forcing them to be sculpted larger to accommodate that articulation.

I don't own any of them, but they always have lanky shaped bodies, i recall how people on here complained how bad the spider-woman from then waa so bad compared to the current hasbro one that came out a year or so ago.

I mean everyone is entitled to buy what they want, however IMO it would be better to wait for the hasbro to bring out a new version.

I would never hold out hope for Hasbro to make something if Toybiz (or old Hasbro) has it available unless it were a $$$$ figure... (like Toad) How long did it take to get a Jim Lee Cyclops after Racer X Cyclops and Heroic Age Cyclops and almost Phoenix Force 5 Cyclops... and now they do Colossus- but in some crazy "blink and you miss it" costume... and the same for Storm...and havok... I'll happily fill in the gaps with what's available even if I have to do a little cosmetic surgery on it (banshee) to make it presentable and then... if Hasbro makes a suitable replacement- THEN make the swap. And anymore Hasbro is moving more and more to generic bucks with detachable kibble- they have great builds- but sometimes- like Shocker- you miss out on that sculpted detail the older version had... like I said- everyone collects different and what I love lots here might hate- but that waiting for Hasbro... I'm just too old for that :)

Not only did Colossus wear this costume for multiple years in the comics, it's also his costume in the game Marvel's Contest of Champions, which is a preeetty popular game, and because of that game's reach (far beyond the typical "hardcore comics fan", and probably including many children), this might be the first/main costume many people associate with Colossus. This is far from a pointless costume to get Colossus in.

but to me... an older fan... that was a "never" costume. while some people may be clamoring for it- I have NO IDEA what it represents other than briefly seeing it on a cover once... maybe... THAT's the point. Just because it's not a look that I know doesn't mean Hasbro isn't going to go that route vs something that i desperately want- "Jim Lee era Colossus" Which Toybiz made perfectly. So I could stick with the toy already made very well or just wait for hasbro to eventually get around to it...

Wonder how long itd take before hasbro jacked the price up.....my legend buying days are done if this trend continues across the board.

Bizarre looking limbs and shoulders, deformed hands with pointless finger articulation. I think they have found the right balance with articulation and sculpting.

Agree, I was always tempted to get the TB figures, but they just look off to me and bulk as well. While the Hasbro ones look much more cleaner.

What was wrong with the Blade figure (besides the fact that he couldn't properly hold his Mac 11?...) The the sculpt was awesome and the likeness to Wesley Snipes on that figure was pretty damn incredible...plus he came with a boatload of accessories including a motorcycle...

Got one more today! One left, Dazzler eludes me. I thought it would be Cyclops that I could not find. Oh well, I am sure she will be left over soon enough.I would really just like to have her BAF piece. She does look like a great figure though, I think she will be a surprise figure that I like more once I get her in hand. They had the entire wave at my Target

Very basic, bland figures.

Hasbro is a terrible company. The only thing they have going for them is sculpt. Toy Biz cared about their customers. They delivered in paint apps and accessories.

Toy Biz was also last seen around 2006. If they had 10 years to keep improving, they'd completely wipe the floor with Hasbro, not even a contest.

Weapon X 02-28-2017 06:12 PM

I went to Toys R Us today looking for GOTG vol 2 figures, and there was nothing. Went to Walgreens too, nothing. When are these supposed to be hitting?

Most of the Toy Biz women looked like corpses wearing clothes, they looked pretty awful. Toy Biz put out some hits and so far on the record their BAFs are superior to Hasbro's but they're gone now and Hasbro has managed to generally provide great articulation with aesthetically pleasing sculpts so most of us are content with what we're given as modern Marvel Legends.
