Had some spawn sets just sitting in package and I've been itching to do Strange's Sanctorum so I started opening them up. Used a shoe box and some foam core for the walls, and a schliech castle wall on top of the box:

Thank you; I plan on going to Michael's or hobby lobby and buying all those really expensive 1:18 scale furniture sets or a couple of little paintings to spruce up the walls. Also, one of those mouse pads that look like rugs would be a nice room centerpiece and make some fake "pillows" to line around it in a circle.

I think the newest thing was weight room set, they also did a beach chair set(perfect for deadpool!), some desk stuff for kids rooms, and a nice folding chair/table set with storage push cart. All designed for 4'' stuff. They're always making more too! A full set if you can find it for cheap, should only cost you roughly 12 bucks. They are capsule toys and sold pretty cheap in Japan. Though Ebay markup tends to make them pricey, but you can still find them for decent prices on some sites like Rakuten's english site. I've got a set of the lawn chairs arriving tomorrow. I'l try to get some pics up with them once they do. |
Lol, Mini-verse is getting an MCU Spidey before us. You fail, Hasbro!

We wouldn't get one for 4'' until either Homecoming or Infinity War minimum. Unless they decided to slot it in a two pack like BP/Agent 13 was. But who should they pair him up with? Ant-man? |
Spidey was announced a few weeks back already. Only the pack was not easy to find.
For 4'' I think we're done, if they wanted to do another one they would have done it with the BP/A13 wave. We cannot complain much because they gave us 4 movie figures, Cap, A13, BP and Falcon. |
@redfox: same boat, never had a reason to pull the trigger, they get pricey.
@kernel: nice catch, I needed a victim lol @snowflakian: I know of those capsule sets, Japanese toy makers are the best (in my opinion) @grippen: I saw a review of the 2.5" set on YouTube months ago but it was released in South America first. (Review was in Spanish) Speaking of MCU: As 4" collectors, we would of assumed that since every other scale received the full cast, Hasbro did fail to deliver the same consideration to our scale. I mean 6" get 4 packs (including Bruce Banner) to get a good chunk of the cast and then the rest were single figures. Titan scale got the full cast, 2.5 did as well. It's not whining, MUFan just noticed the disparity. And I hope the future movies do supply what we want to finish the roster; but the way things have been trending, we'll take what we get. |

With ample amount of movies still to come, especially with Spider-man slated to get two movies still(if they are still doing the animated in universe one too), I think 4'' scale is fine without one for now. There's only so many times we'll keep buying the same spider-man costume over and over and over again, and personally, I don't mind waiting until his movie is in theaters to do it. So after 7 years of magnificent figures both comic and cinematic, I think waiting a year or two for the remaining 3 (besides street level heroes and shield) and whoever else is added to the cinematic world in the coming films, is fine. We can learn to be patient while the other scales play catch up to all the material we've already gotten. So no, not a Hasbro fail. It's marketing. 4'' wasn't the focus this go around, and we've known that since the lines were announced, but there are still plenty more movies for future lines to be announced still. Unlike Dr. Strange, Spider-man also isn't an untested property. He was able to sustain his own non-movie line fine. So there is a good chance they will market his film across all scales anyway. Now Vision and Scarlet Witch as a two pack on the other hand with Wanda's strong focus from the movie besides Winter Soldier, yeah that could probably be questioned. It's not like they have a solo film right around the corner or are likely to make an appearance until the next Avengers film. Those two could avoid over-saturation unlike spider-man that'll have a strong product focus coming up because of being the title character of his film. |
I said this before in other forum (GI Joe related). The 4'' scale unfortunately is not very profitable. They are skipping it as much as they can or reducing articulation. This is why GI Joe line is mostly dead right now. If they reduce articulation collectors won't buy it because that is mostly what made GI Joe different from all others their articulation.
For MU still with the articulation reduction they can still sell it as we've seen, fans in the MU are not so demanding articulation wise. The new paradigm is 6'' and 2.5'', 4'' scale tends to have less and less focus. |

Marvel Cinematic lines having a pause for so long means they don't quite have that same issue of re-selling the same characters over and over again. So I'd expect Spider-man is one of those that may get a figure still when his film gets nearer. They've already said they are planning him to have his own 4'' comic line, so a 4'' movie line support of some kind doesn't seem that far-fetched either. Part of the problem is character over-saturation. How many times will a parent or collector re-buy certain characters for their kids before they'll say "don't you already have that one?" Or collectors skip it because it's the same figure repackaged with no emphasis for the purchase. So skipping some mainstays for now that do have solo films coming up and can carry their own line even without a film, yeah it's to be expected they may come later. Whereas others that are a singular tool with likely no retool potential behind them to offset costs, may wait for a big push year. Black Panther for example can get repackaged. Agent 13 herself is mostly part swapped made to reduce costs. Vision would require a complete new tooling with potentially no re-use except for figures of himself later. Wanda is much similar. So skipping Spider-man for now in favor of waiting for his film makes sense. Making black Panther for now makes sense since he could get reused for the Legends 4'' or even slightly retooled again for a later release in Infinity War or his own movie. Him having a solo product line as an unproven movie is highly unlikely, though they could do a minimalist one like Thor: The Dark World had gotten. Really depends on who is in his movie that would warrant molds besides himself. Vision would have made sense, because with the distance between Civil War and Infinity war, re-releasing his figure could have saved costs. Wanda though is a mystery. Not sure if they could have recouped costs on her by a re-release if she gets a new costume later, and her mold has no direct animation support either unlike Vision coming up, nor comic support, and it'd need a heavy retool but it probably still would have been prudent to do her and Vision as an exclusive two pack release minimum. Really depends. I'd expect Infinity war may have more 4'' support due to the induced drought. And we also still don't know Thor's movie scale for Thor: Ragnarok. So we very well could see a Banner figure there. The 4'' scale is also the only scale that did get an Edward Norton Banner though. Blonsky too. So we have gotten material in the past other scales haven't. So now it's their turn while we wait. No big deal. Market trends fluctuate, it happens. |

For example, Bombstrike had a new headsculpt but the rest is just a reused of existing molds which made her not entirely accurate when we look a the original figure from 2004. Similar approach for Spearhead & Max, actually here they reused the parts of the convention NF variant exclusive figure. It was nice to see a new and improved Max but the figure was just a reuse of parts. So what I'm trying to say is that there are still many figures that did not receive an update, some iconic and when say iconic I mean you saw them in the cartoons. For example Captain Grid-Iron had so many appearance in the cartoons and the only version of him is a vintage one. The reason here is the movies, Marvel is getting lots of attention due to the movies that overall have been a success. This means toys will sell better. I think 2.5'' its for kids and in general pay up for the more collector oriented scales. GI Joe up until now didn't have movie and to be honest both movies were not as big as the Marvel ones. Plus GI Joe has always been 4'' so they tried to make a mix of collector and kid toys. The first movie toys for example were bad, for the second they mixed, first waves were movie/kis oriented but later waves were mostly collector oriented. We even saw some figures with minor articulation (pilots) which was something we never seen up until then. I'm not an expert but I read that 4'' highly articulated figures are expensive to produce and the price point is not worth it reason why hasbro started releasing the 2.5'' scale instead starting with GoG, and continuing with Age of Ultron and now Civil War. They cannot do this for GI Joe because they will loose the collectors market and kids lets face it do not know GI Joe as they know Marvel (again tanks to the movies). So what I think Hasbro decided is to stop GI Joe for now (they did it in the past early 90s until eraly 2000s) and they will probably start releasing things based on movies as well. I'm sure they will continue with 4'' but we may see some articulation reduction and also we will see only a few figures and vehicles. |
And here I was just making a joke about MU being treated unfairly...

My main complaint towards the remark was Spider-man. That Spider-man was the reason Hasbro was fail. The one character that's going to have 2 movies, and pegs so full of merchandise for them we're going to be sick of it before it's over and people are going to whine about it peg warming like they did the previous spider-man lines. That's the one character Hasbro didn't make in 4'' for Civil War that they get called fail for. Nevermind Scarlet Witch, who, ya know, was the catalyst for the entire plot of the movie besides Winter Soldier. A character who won't even have another movie appearance until Avengers 3. It's spider-man we should call Hasbro fail for not making in 4'' right now. That's what's ridiculous about that remark. Black Panther was needed at market, so was Falcon. Agent 13 too. And I wish they had done Scarlet Witch and Vision too, but retailers want those mainstays like Cap and Ironman. Especially since they were the headliners of the movie. And after how retailers treated the SHIELD TECH Avengers Assemble line, can't exactly blame Hasbro for their hesitancy. They are actively trying to get the material to market but have to plan accordingly to do it where they can. Getting Black Panther out now especially was genius, because honestly, he's another one of those we might have to wait for Avengers 3 for, because like Dr. Strange, he may not get his own 4'' line. So it's fairly complicated on the choices that were made. But the market demand for 4'' is coming back. The mini-verse is great for lines that are playset heavy, and even great for extremely vehicle heavy lines like GOTG was, but the 4'' market is still pretty strong when the right material with media backing is there. And hopefully the new releases of GI Joe will help show that too. As will Marvel Legends 4'' with the comic packs and upcoming waves that have high in demand characters from the Marvel relaunch and even the various animated series. |
Eugh I was gonna get the Translucent Wonder Man for my Phantom Limb custom but I think his limbs may be too dark for what I'm going for.
I'm thinking of getting another Cyclops and using his torso and looking for another figure that has translucent limbs but there's not a whole host of easily found translucent figures. |

So, what are your guys' NYCC predictions? I'm hoping for an MCU Doctor Strange in the style of the MCU Ant-Man, Cap, and Falcon figures.
