So, what are your guys' NYCC predictions? I'm hoping for an MCU Doctor Strange in the style of the MCU Ant-Man, Cap, and Falcon figures.

Strange is my prediction, with a Kaecillus/Mordo 2 pack as an ambitious wish list.

Wouldn't be too surprised if they 'tease' the CW Spiderman which will be released sometime in 2017 to coincide with Homecoming.

When is NYCC anyway and what is Hasbro's past track record on reveals?

I'm thinking of getting another Cyclops and using his torso and looking for another figure that has translucent limbs but there's not a whole host of easily found translucent figures.

My searches revealed nothing about this character, so is there literally a guy in the Marvel Universe who has pain from his non-existant limbs?

I think the newest thing was weight room set, they also did a beach chair set(perfect for deadpool!), some desk stuff for kids rooms, and a nice folding chair/table set with storage push cart. All designed for 4'' stuff. They're always making more too! A full set if you can find it for cheap, should only cost you roughly 12 bucks. They are capsule toys and sold pretty cheap in Japan. Though Ebay markup tends to make them pricey, but you can still find them for decent prices on some sites like Rakuten's english site. I've got a set of the lawn chairs arriving tomorrow. I'l try to get some pics up with them once they do.

Cool, thanks! Definitely gonna have to look into these. I'm a sucker for tiny versions of ordinary objects!:p

This upcoming NYCC starts on October 6th and end on October 9th. Hasbro has been to most if not all NYCC events and always bring something to the table.

Phantom Limb is from the TV show The Venture Brothers, he's not a comic character.

For 4'' I think we're done, if they wanted to do another one they would have done it with the BP/A13 wave. We cannot complain much because they gave us 4 movie figures, Cap, A13, BP and Falcon.

plus comic cap and ironman 2 pack

Well, part of that for GI Joe though is also how much they've already covered over the years. How many variations of the same character will a consumer purchase before they say they have enough? How many can be sold when half the market is already "full" on that character?

Marvel Cinematic lines having a pause for so long means they don't quite have that same issue of re-selling the same characters over and over again. So I'd expect Spider-man is one of those that may get a figure still when his film gets nearer. They've already said they are planning him to have his own 4'' comic line, so a 4'' movie line support of some kind doesn't seem that far-fetched either.

Part of the problem is character over-saturation. How many times will a parent or collector re-buy certain characters for their kids before they'll say "don't you already have that one?" Or collectors skip it because it's the same figure repackaged with no emphasis for the purchase.

So skipping some mainstays for now that do have solo films coming up and can carry their own line even without a film, yeah it's to be expected they may come later. Whereas others that are a singular tool with likely no retool potential behind them to offset costs, may wait for a big push year. Black Panther for example can get repackaged. Agent 13 herself is mostly part swapped made to reduce costs. Vision would require a complete new tooling with potentially no re-use except for figures of himself later. Wanda is much similar.

So skipping Spider-man for now in favor of waiting for his film makes sense. Making black Panther for now makes sense since he could get reused for the Legends 4'' or even slightly retooled again for a later release in Infinity War or his own movie. Him having a solo product line as an unproven movie is highly unlikely, though they could do a minimalist one like Thor: The Dark World had gotten. Really depends on who is in his movie that would warrant molds besides himself.

Vision would have made sense, because with the distance between Civil War and Infinity war, re-releasing his figure could have saved costs. Wanda though is a mystery. Not sure if they could have recouped costs on her by a re-release if she gets a new costume later, and her mold has no direct animation support either unlike Vision coming up, nor comic support, and it'd need a heavy retool but it probably still would have been prudent to do her and Vision as an exclusive two pack release minimum. Really depends. I'd expect Infinity war may have more 4'' support due to the induced drought. And we also still don't know Thor's movie scale for Thor: Ragnarok. So we very well could see a Banner figure there.

The 4'' scale is also the only scale that did get an Edward Norton Banner though. Blonsky too. So we have gotten material in the past other scales haven't. So now it's their turn while we wait. No big deal. Market trends fluctuate, it happens.

As soon as we got out of civil war my son asked to go to the store to get some spiderman stuff and it was non existent... Tom holland really stole the show and hasbro kind of failed to capitalize. I mean you know it's bad when a 6 year old is like where's the spidey/civil war stuff. I'd love if hasbro put as much thought into these things as you have snowflakian, but I look at the complete over saturation of the 6" stuff (how many cap and spidey figures have they released in the last year or so?) and it's easy for a lot of us to come to the conclusion we are just on the back burner for now. Hasbro sets the market and can pretty much do what they want. I just don't think there really is much of a market for the 2.5" stuff. I've seen kids buy multiple batman figures, spidey has that kind of market power IMO. Skipping spiderman makes about as much sense as repacking falcon and hawkeye 2 pack that peg warmed for $5 at discount stores or repacking Hyperion in a 2 pack when the single carded figure almost killed the line, (it doesn't make sense).
As for me, I'm just glad we are getting a spidey on the Jim lee cyclops buck.

Tom Welling?

Mixing up Superman and Spider-man just went to a whole new level.

Really, though, I think Hasbro was contractually obligated to wait on the Spidey stuff due to them keeping his design a secret for so long. I mean, they made designed the figures long enough ago that the movie straight up changed the chest logo and webbing on the figure!

(Note: I say that last bit based off of early set photos that were recently released that featured the Spider symbol as seen on the ML and Mini-verse version and had black raised webbing, which would explain the inset webbing on the ML.)

Also, can't wait for that Spidey on CA/DD body.

Dang it! I edited my post lol. I do hope we get more of the movie characters with proper articulation in our scale. The ship has already sailed on the villians like Ronan, korath, nebula, crossbones etc. I think a lot of the contracts are up or close to done after Infinity war so I'm thinking the MCU will be completely different starting with phase 4.

I would definitely say that maybe they waited for the "reveal" to do stuff with Spidey (like with Rey in Star Wars), but considering the fact that I've read that Spidey merch sells better than all other Marvel merch I'm surprised there isn't more CW Spidey stuff out there by now.

Phantom Limb is a Venture Bros Supervillain based on Pulp characters Fantomas and Phantom Limb but his powers are based on Gil Hamilton's psychic Phantom Limb 'cept all four of his limbs are Phantom Limbs

Thanks; I've seen that in stores, just looks different proportion outside of box. All the Star Wars vehicles that came out recently would look badass with a black wash bringing out the very detailed sculpt.

With 2 movies of his coming up. I think that's exactly why. We got 2017 with Homecoming and 2018 with the animated feature.
No reason to bother now when the market is going to be flooded later anyway. Explains why his Civil War figures are in multi-packs too. For those that absolutely have to have him now, but otherwise there's going to be so many single carded later anyway with those movies there's no point in pulling too many sales away from those yet. Especially since it's not likely his costume will change at all. So may as well tease it, and then satisfy later. Until then, many of us already have the high articulation Amazing Spider-man one to fill that hole in our collections anyway. Which is kind of fitting since that almost was the start of the Sony deal with Oscorp allegedly originally going to make a cameo in Avengers 1.

This way they may get an even bigger massive sales spike, possibly larger than normal, and that sales data can be used to leverage retailers into larger support of Marvel product lines hopefully. Which could in theory give 4'' more peg space on shelves for more product because of the induced demand. Especially since so many still have a backlog of the Legends 6'' still to unload. So varying up the product lines to force room on the shelves and provide new sales data to support a switch back to 4'' for that dual appeal, makes sense. It'd work the market to go in their favor and have the sales numbers to back it up.

As a pre-cursor to a 4'' infinity war line, that's what I'd do. Tease with some 4'' Thor, a small line at least but with some character coverage from the movie, and maybe some old figures thrown in for hole filling and to keep costs down outside of those new molds. A full spider-man: Homecoming merchandising assault to flood the market, and then flood the market again with Avengers: Infinity War from the sales spike Spider-man:Homecoming caused, then tone it back down with some smaller high demand lines like Captain Marvel and Maybe Black Panther. Both of which they can do in higher articulation, possibly even bringing back neck tilt for flight poses and cat-like poses to get some to re-buy figures they already bought for the better version. For Captain Marvel, that'd mean a slight retool for her comic figure for the lower arms and neck, and for Black Panther, that'd mean the same, but on his cinematic version. Then a full new mold for the cinematic version of Carol Danvers.

Depends if Black Panther's film comes before Infinity War or after. If it's before, we'll be lucky to get anything more than a Legends 6'' wave. If it's after, they may have more room to move around for products again because of Spider-man and Infinity War's sales spike. Depends exactly how massive the Spider-man: Homecoming sales spike is. That alone may get us a smaller Black Panther 4'' line like Thor 2 was. With Captain Marvel after Infinity War though, it'll have hopefully more sales data to support talking retailers into wanting it, including how much wide appeal it has from the more diverse fanbase. (Though if sales of it flops, that could also set us back on 4'' market share, as well as product lines from women led titlce character properties at market. So it needs to be tighter more concise line to test the waters and see if demand is still strong to prove successful on the books. At that point though, we'd also already have some pretty big coverage already done from Infinity War though, and other films to bolster the market share back up again. And it is expected that the system is give or take. Massive sales spikes lead to lower sales later because of not reaching those same numbers, until a new spike happens from going above those lower numbers. And back and forth like that. Sales numbers don't have to go above their highest sales points, only the previous year and enough above threshold that retailers would want to keep supporting it. Though yes going above their highest numbers to date is always a plus.)

Snowflakian 09-01-2016 07:44 AM

Here's a painted up SHIELD version. I didn't like the black and gold one, but now I definitely gotta get another to do a black and silver one now.

http://www.toyark.com/attachment.php...4&d=1472740380

I'd troop build the heck out of the white and black one too. But it's really hard to find now. And the few places that do have that one still are pricier than I'd like.

These would make excellent troop builders too for Cobra or any other bad guy thing too. Kind of feels like a Cobra NinjaB.A.T. really.

Bingo! I got the ship at Walmart for like $4.75 on clearance, I'm a sucker for vehicles. There is this stellosphere that looks like a good comic quinjet from the early 90s, gonna go pick up the marvel vehicle manual and see if I can Jerry rig up a good quinjet.
I also have been picking up some joes for customs and what nots, but I usually pass on joe vehicles as they have something really cheesy like a gas barrel right underneath a turret gun lol

Universe 09-01-2016 10:02 AM

@kernel I haven't been able to find the vehicles anywhere in target or Walmart, must of been bought out, but the $50 x wings are there sometimes. Would love to get that on clearance so I can build up a few blue ones.

@snowflakian yeah those Japanese robots look really cool. Would do the same and at least get three to use as life-model decoys

Have you checked the clearance sections? at Walmart it's a whole other section usually occupied by hooligans, rednecks and school teachers looking for cheap toys... And sometimes myself lol
I also thought those bots looked like LMDs
