Except those are Ultimate MJ, this si not supposed to be the Ultimate version. MJ has had bangs since the 60s outside of that really horrid curly mess they called short hair back then.

Not all of them are images that pop up in the random Google search are from Ultimate Spider-man's MJ (a couple of them are Pepper Potts...lol.) Plenty of those images that pop up are from J. Scott Campbell, who never drew any comics from Ultimate Spider-Man if my memory serves me correctly (as Mark Bagley did nearly the entire run.) McFarlane didn't draw her too often with bangs either, giving her a poofy, curly perm mess that was parted.

It also depends on what your definition of bangs are. Mary Jane has worn a number of styles over the years, both with and without bangs. While the bangs might have been her initial look, she's worn her hair parted on a number of different occasions for lengthy runs.

During the early Hasbro days, they gave a lot of figures ankle articulation by putting a forward-to-back hinge on top of the foot, and a peg on top to attach into the shin, which gave no ankle pivot.

Sorry if my explanations are insufficient, I have no better way to describe the different types of ankle articulation.

Just looked at my toybiz magneto and and he had full ankle articulation.

MJ looks great.

Excellent! Great ideas for demon spawn- also nice to see BlackHeart put to good use!

TheBlueMarvel 03-26-2017 11:29 AM

Thanks, Bo! Ahhh, you caught my use of MCU Blackheart! See, there are some MCU figs I like. ;)...in particular, the ones I think I can fudge into Marvel proper. I was going to have the MCU fig drop his human-avatar guise and transform into the Toybiz canon fig, or have the Toybiz fig onlooking the confrontation involving his Earth-realm aspect from an ethereal perch, but I tabled the ideas for a future set of pics. As far as the demonic wraiths, I acquired some extra cloaks (digging those SWB Maul accessories) with the intent of using them with my casted skulls & skeleton.

...about the ongoing discussion regarding the ankle pivot, many old Toybiz figs experimented with the design. What Hasbro added was eversion and inversion of the foot at the point of the ankle. The Hasbro design is a vast improvement both aesthetically and functionally, but the "ankle pivot" feature isn't exactly a Hasbro creation.

I will stick with the less "Greg Land" MJ I made a ways back. If I pick up the 2-pack it will just be for custom fodder.

I see you have the Back Alley Brawl set from WWF too. I love that thing.

Bo Ttef 03-26-2017 07:12 PM

Yeah, that's a great piece for ML urban heros! I also got 2 sets of cages on clearance, I use those all the time!

I've always wanted one of those cages. I've tracked down quite a bit of WWF accessories and dios over the years, I feel fortunate to have them. I'm still looking for a few things like the filing cabinet for my Commissioner Gordon office.

Mordiganne 03-27-2017 11:55 AM

Does anyone have the right arm piece from the BAF Modak available? I don't have much to trade but do have some other BAF pieces I dont need. Mostly Toybiz.

Those eyes, those horrible yellow eyes!

This figure's pretty neat under a black light, not as stunning as comic Star-Lords mask but still very neat.

Oddly I thought the movie Invisible Woman they did was pretty good. Certainly a cut above the rest of the female Legends-scale figures they did.

Thanks! I used the Sandman heads he came with to prop up the back of the glider so he doesn't fall. I originally kept trying the same pose with Hobgoblin when I got him but I just didn't bother using anything to balance him out and prevent falling, since Green Goblin came with not one but two sizable heads I employed them as support rocks.

I got Black Panther in today from Civil War. I think he's a very blah figure. My biggest gripe is you can't put his arms all the way down, unacceptable in this day and age. Second, he has no side-to-side movement in the lower leg. Third, he is made out of some really poor quality plastic, it's baffling. I haven't seen something like this in a long time. Fourth, his masked head appears smaller than the unmasked head. Fifth, there is a big ugly serial number on the back of his leg in white paint. WTF. And lastly, he doesn't have much paint. He really could have used a wash.

I hope we get a better version of this figure at some point, he's disappointing. I'm glad I didn't pay more than $25 for this.

Edit: another gripe, his head and ab crunch are on ratchet joints, but they wobble around it's super annoying.

i like the toybiz version much better. He is coming out as an exclusive tho, but I think it's mainly a repaint

I picked up, bulldozer the other day. He is pretty good. He could use a wash though for the orange.

Definitely glorious for the time, but they've largely been passed up by the work Hasbro's been doing for the past couple of years.

I disagree completely, but this conversation has already been had. Hasbro is improving a lot lately, but they've got their work cut out for them.
