Interview with the Sculptor: Marvel Select Venom’s Jean St. Jean | Art Asylum Blog
Also bought another Select Deadpool for different posing purposes. BTW, the UK is awaiting the rerelease of Carnage so the US might already have it or be getting it soon... for anyone with an interest. |

So I'm suddenly in this X-Men mood and decided I want to get back into the series, but the older stuff. As such, I picked up these two books:

Plus, it makes me think of the Epic Collections coming out. Like how the Spider-Man Return of the Sinister Six one only encompass 6 of the 18 issues in the book. Unfortunately, my comic shop didn't have the first Phoenix saga when Jean becomes Phoenix or the Jim Lee stuff from the 90s. |

Being able to buy that issue individually from Comixology helped me to begrudgingly accept that digital comics aren't always necessarily a bad thing. For me, tangible printed comics will always be superior to digital, but paying $2 for a comic that I'll probably only read a handful of times sure beats paying about $30 to read the same book. |
The book was only $15. And who cares if it has filler issues, that is how all graphic novels should be. The more issues the better.
Oh and physical will always be superior to digital. |

I've always wondered how people who live in tiny apartments in large urban areas store their collections. My current place isn't exactly spacious, and I've had to convert a dormer area on the second floor into something of a makeshift walk-in closet to house my boxes of comics, along with my collection of trades and a large portion of my action figure collection. My tastes in comics these days is pretty specific, so the number of comics I buy each week tends to be pretty small, but if I were still reading voluminous amounts of comics like I did a few years ago, I might consider switching at least partially to digital, to avoid being surrounded by walls of boxes. |
Yeah, I wasn't complaining about the filler issues in that set. In fact, I really enjoyed them. I was just pointing out that I was surprised to discover how little that set actually has to do with the DoFP story.

I just can't, can't grasp why anyone would want to spend money on something they have to have a computer screen to read. I mean, not only do you have to have a device to read it on, and make sure it is always charged for you to read it on, but you also have to hope the company that owns it doesn't decide they no longer want you to own it, and you have to rebuy it to read it. Oh, and you can't sell a digital copy. If you don't like something, you are stuck with it. You can't let friends borrow it. You can't put it on your shelf. You have nothing to show for what you paid for. It's the same reason why I will never buy a digital copy of a movie or video game. You either give me a physical copy or I don't pay for it.

i have plenty of digital copies of movies. i definitely prefer having the digital copy over the physical copy. also, comics and dvd's these days are abundant and cheap, so i don't know why anyone would worry about the resale value of them.. lastly you're not "stuck" with it. it's far easier to electronically delete something than it is to throw it away or recycle it. i used to collect and read comics, but i lost the desire, there's just no reason for me to own them, i don't display them, i don't re-read them, and they just sit and take up space. |
"Any day now..." I told myself on my lunch break today as I stopped by TRU for a quick peek, and sure enough, I found her freshly pulled from the case as I walked into the aisle. This one actually came out better than I expected. The paints on the Ripley's face are a little too bright for my tastes, which gives her an almost cartoonish look (almost PlayArts Kai-ish,) but even with that gripe, in hand, I think it's the best likeness to Sigourney Weaver we've gotten from the line so far. So happy to finally have the last Ripley I'll ever need, since I'm one of only 22 people on the planet who actually enjoyed Alien 3.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...706_142141.jpg Case assortment was kinda weird though now that I think about it. There were 8 figures total...6 Xenos, one Yutani Guard and one Ripley. All of the Xenos were brown though...none of the black/grey variants were to be found. I guess NECA is finally realizing the human characters don't sell all that well, which, if they follow this pattern, is really going to suck for those trying to find Vasquez and Frost with the next assortment. |

:offtopic not trying to sway you.....i'm sure your reasons are valid FOR YOU... now for me. I used to collect and still have about 7 boxes of comics taking up space. The ability to have (literally) thousands of books at my fingertips is convenient as hell. Digital method I can keep a couple hundred with me at all times. The app i use makes the library convenient to use and see (it's a beauty to scroll through all the covers)...I get the urge to read something in particular...guess what..i have it with me... forgot what happened 3 issues ago about something that's relevant to this issue...guess what.."tap-tap-tap" i'm there.. I don't have to worry about bending or folding. I can resize on a whim.. and about always being charged...come on man...every one of us uses a device daily that needs to be charged constantly...that's just the age we live in. i LOVE comics..but i'm no longer tied to to its 'physical' aspect. Have you actually ever tried it with a GOOD reader on a good device (tablet). Again for you...your opinions and views are valid and that's cool...for me..going digital was a GAME CHANGER!! *hold on lemme check something* yup...108 Gigs of comics :D |

Picked up Galvatron this morning, and went ahead and finally got the Carol Danvers Captain Marvel figure too. Can't expect that TRU to get the Gamora wave if they don't sell what's on the shelf now for the inventory system to send a new case. Plus after getting the Jane Foster Thor and Sam Wilson Cap, they needed another member of their avengers team.
Really hoping the Riri Williams Ironman will still use the international ironman knight like armor. Really want that one done as a figure. |
