I saw the universe Galactus at a comic shop near me. He's definitely beefier than the Legends version. Mojo seems like he's going to be much cheaper to build, most of the figures are readily available near me right now.

dude you are gonna get backlash with that image, you do know this is a figure forum site rite?

I got tickets to SDCC. What am I looking at time investment wise to get the exclusive? Am I gonna have to spend the whole day getting em?

SymbiSpidey 04-18-2017 09:44 PM

Wow, so that Ultimate Spider-Man/Vulture 2-pack has been by far the easiest Legends thing to find in recent memory. Went to Wal-Mart early this morning, headed to the Legends section where there's dozens of Red Onslaught/Doctor Strange/Absorbing Man wave figures pegwarmig and nada. So I look around a little bit and Wal-Mart has a totally different section for the Spider-Man/Guardians figures for kids and lo and behold, several boxes of the 2 pack is sitting there on the shelf.

I know I bitched a lot earlier, but I definitely needed some form of Vulture for my collection. Even though it's not the classic version, it'll do for my collection for now. And it's actually a pretty nice figure. I like the head sculpt and the metallic greens on this figure look great. The wings unfortunately aren't articulated. They function very much like how Movie Falcon's did. Vulture has this backpack that you can take off, which reveals these two pegs that you can plug the wings into, and then you just plug in the whole assembly into his back. For some reason I was expecting the mask to just slip on over the face of the figure, but instead it's an alternate head altogether, which is fantastic. Vulture has the same problem that MCU Black Panther had in that you can't put this guy's arms straight down. Other than that, I'm pretty satisfied with this figure, though I still wouldn't say no to a classic version of the character.

As for Ultimate Spider-Man....I honestly didn't take him out of the packaging yet. He's basically the one we got last year with a darker blue color (which does look fairly nice admittedly), no alternate head and less hands so meh...not sure what to do with him.

I can already tell you that you're most likely gonna have to be out by like 3/4 in the morning to stand in line in order to get a ticket for the Hasbro booth.

Shit, is that how that works? I'm going as well. First timer. Tell me more!

Basically, prior to the convention opening, you have to stand on what's usually a long line in order to pick up a ticket so that when you go to the convention you can go to the booth to pick up whatever figures you want. Basically, you stand in line to pick up a ticket so that you can stand in another line.

I think after a certain point, they open up the line at the booth for everybody else, but usually by that point, all the figures that you'd want will be gone by then. When I got that Book of Vishanti set two years ago, Sunday was the easiest way to get it because that's when they just open it up to everybody, but I'm not sure how it is now.

It's a colossal pain in the ass, but hey, that's SDCC for you lol. I wish I could go again this year, but unfortunately money's getting pretty tight. Maybe next year.

If you're going to claim that two characters wearing padded jackets (of different styles) and trousers is enough for one to be a rip off, then the bar is set so low that virtually ever other superhero costume ever is going to be derivative of something. Which renders the issue completely pointless in my opinion. Phil Coulson and the Purple Man both wear suits, derivative. Black Panther and Hellcat both have skintight cat themed bodysuits, rip off, etc. etc.

I think this discussion has run its course.

Not so much. Sorry that you don't want to hear that the similar style and timing of release factor into this. The padded jackets aren't that different in style, sorry, and can a company really rip itself off? Probably not, but nice try. Sorry to say but two specific characters from different companies with derivative costumes is a very different thing from the grand sweeping generalization your trying to gaslight my point with.

I'm... not very sure you're using "gaslighting" correctly...

Any chance you can snag one and ship it to one of us who can't find it? Thank you! :)

Trivial Psychic 04-19-2017 03:00 AM

@SymbiSpidey: Glad that worked out so easy for you. I hit no less than 5 different Walmarts yesterday with no luck, which is why I despise Walmart Exclusives so much. My local ones just never seem to get them in...

So there's a rumored listing of a Black Panther wave on one of the other sites (starts with F o-O)....no skus no nothing just names. I hope it's not true:

Black Panther
Namor
Black Bolt
Black Leopard
Iron Man
Siberian Tiger

IF this is is true....this wave is so disappointing. I hope it's just someone spouting off their own wishes because I just can't with this wave. I don't even want to see figures, I just have no interest in any of them. But sadly, some of it makes sense. Namor I can see for sure and of course Black Panther is a no brainer. Iron Man has close ties and I guess Black Bolt due to his comic Illuminati association. I have no idea who the other two are.

But seriously? What about Shuri, his female bodyguards that I can't spell, Killmonger, Klaw, Kasper Cole? Gah. So much missed potential.

Also no word on a BAF, but how could it be anything but Man Ape. Actually I take it back, with this wave being the rumored wave, I don't want it to be anything I want. That way I can pass on the whole thing and be happy.

I agree. I hope this isn't legit, because I was really hoping for the Dora Milaje to army build. Kilmonger would be great, Shuri, Man-Ape, and updated Klaw. I do hope we get a wave for this film, but with a better lineup than what is rumored. Oh, and Black Leopard was a name change for Panther back in the 70's, please correct me if I'm wrong. Still not sure why they would release that figure. That run is a tad forgotten.

Ah okay, on the Black Leopard thing. I guess because it would be an alternate Black Panther. Still....o_O. And yes, army building the D.M. would be awesome. I would love for there to be two heads included so we can have some individuality. Also I can pretend Michonne is part of the Marvel Universe...why? because she kicks ass.

Boy Blunder 04-19-2017 12:46 PM

The only rumors I'm open to believing at this point are the Thor wave, and the Spidey wave. Mostly because the Thor wave has been persisting for a couple months (and Jane Thor was confirmed at ToyFair), and the Spidey wave has some SKUs. Any other wave rumors are just salt-grain-worthy.

oh absolutely. but I'll share any "rumors" I find because it's potentially true. with the caveat it's all just rumors. And my opinions on the possibilities. And further than that, I'm far less likely to believe it if there's no sku number.

That Wolverine wave-shaped wound is still fresh, no?

I have scars that will never heal because of that one. :D

On the other hand though...lesson learned. Until we get a SKU rumor or something official from Hasbro, it could all just be some fan's wishlist and nothing else.

Ha! Sounds like a good idea to me. Now I'm really holding out for multiple Dora Milaje.

Well im indifferent. I just wanna get my old man logan figs and finish my sandman. Unless the bafs from the next several waves wow me ( thor bps solo flick antman etc ) i will have a very much needed break and will really just be able to pick n choose, provided theres sonething i want in those waves ( i know i will get executioner and ares if those turn out to be true). The only way id get a new bp ( i consider the civil war version by definitive panther ) is if his arms can actually hand down by his side instead of kinda flared out ( my ONLY gripe about the civil war panther ).

Boy Blunder 04-19-2017 01:52 PM

MarvelousNews has posted some in-hand photos of the upcoming Spider-Man Homecoming wave, though the photog needs to keep their flash in check :D

Oh thanks for sharing. Reconfirms my thoughts for only getting Beetle for me, but you never know, if I see them in hand myself I may change my mind.

I'm definitely getting Beetle and Moon Knight, but other than that, the wave is a pass for me.

If anyone wants to pre-claim the BAF pieces that come with them, feel free!
