Yeah, it looks like it. I wish ML packaging was as big as it used to be, they used to be able to do so much more. We'll never get another Professor X due to his chair.

Well we could get a Professor X still, it'd just probably have to be as a part of a multipack like the new Vulture pack.

I guess that is true.

Those ToyBiz BAFs were the best, IMO. I read where the BAF sizes dropped after Giant Man due to rising plastic prices. Some of those ToyBiz packs had some real weight to them.

isnt it a great time to collect nowadays...upside to the internet and social media, feel sorry for the oldschool collectors. glad i decided to start figure collecting at a later time in my life, if i was younger, i wouldnt appreciate it like i do now...

Oh yeah no question, Toy Biz is the king of BAF's (they were good with dioramas and accessories too).

I'm not sure what the reason is for the decreasing size of BAF's, I'm sure the plastic cost has something to do with it. I hope someday we get more bang for our buck like we used to. I wish it would fluctuate like gas. Toys have only ever gone up in price, never down.

Im old school....and i love a lotta the modern stuff. Not a fan of the price increases though....nor the insanely shitacular distribution and the terrible stocking of retail stores. Not ever fig is a winner but man theres been some great left field figs like misty knight, ben reiley hoody scarlet spider, machine man, hellcat, to name a few and some awesome updates of older characters like deadpool, brock venom and Agent venom, not to mention terrific villians like green and hobgoblin and black cat.

I hope to see more lesser knowns brought up like Dethlok, Coldblood and Others like vagabond nomad and battlestar at some point.

Toy Biz packed so much more with their figures, Comic/poster, figure and either a large BAF piece or a larger stand or a vehicle. Not to mention Legends were $9.99 back then. I believe Hasbro shrank the BAF because they are simply cheap and figured they could reuse molds over and over with the smaller figures. The largest BAF Hasbro has done is the Hulkbuster which is actually a decent BAF.

They did kind of tone it down a bit, but then Toybiz ended up putting out one of the largest BAFS (not to mention one of my favorites ever) to this day with their Legendary Heroes line. Only Foom has been larger than Pitt since.

Thankfully I have Pitt finished, but my poor Monkeyman is missing an arm and leg

We could. When Hasbro released Professor X in their 3.75" Marvel Universe line, they made his hover chair split down the middle (left and right halves). The chair was split apart and strategically positioned in the standard packaging along with the figure. The split in the chair also made it easier to get the figure seated inside the hover chair. They could do something similar for Marvel Legends. It would be even easier with a regular wheel chair since it's smaller than the hover chair.

I agree. Toy Biz really brought a passion and craft to their work that hasn't been seen since by any company really. Maybe McFarlane back in the day at certain points.

I think Hasbro is doing a much better job as of 2016 then they were doing for the first—what was it—8 years? They have upped their game and I actually respect them now whereas I used to have mostly negative things to say.

I don't know where I'm going with this. I'm not sure what the reason is for lack of accessories and nice BAFs....I think it will be a mystery of whether it was price of plastic or Hasbro being cheap. Just like how many licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop....the world may never know.

It will be hard to top the chair from the Toy Biz Legends. It was just such a great design. Plus it was from the movie mold, and I love that version of the chair so perhaps I'm biased. But it will be nice to get a new body for Professor X. Whatever they use, it's got to be able to sit down lol.

Technically I have been collecting longer than that, but I got more serious about it when I was about 13.

As for my collection....we all know your collections are never truly finished. Figures will get replaced by updated versions, new franchises come out with tie-in figures, etc.

I'm hoping to come into a decent living in the next 5-7 years, so I can at least buy all the old figures I want and focus on new releases. My Wants list is really daunting in length...

I personally find this to be a fantastic set. Spidey is just a repaint of ult-spidey but this time he doesn't have the red stripes on the outside of his biceps which means that the elbow hinge pegs are blue. That to me looks so much better than those red pegs which stood out against the blue and I don't miss the red stripes. Glad I passed on the individual one now. Vulture though is the reason I got this set. Great green colors (both of 'em) and very impressive wings. While technically his ultimate suit they have done small touch-ups to the head which make it more like regular Adrian (plus the back of the box calls him Adrian), mainly his eyebrows are actually done in a dark grey and not just black which looks rather nice. The base body used here seems to be funnily enough a Spider-Man body since it sports the same legs as some Spideys have and it has butterfly shoulders like they have. The head swaps easily enough and the helmet head, while not a classic part of his look, does actually look a lot cooler than I had anticipated. Finally I had some fun and set up a small battle in which Spidey underestimates what the suit's strength can do.

I just realized that Spidey figure has a lot in common with the MCU version. I think the Civil War one actually used some of the same parts for the legs. Even the torso—while different—has the same stoic stance.

MeLikeJinx 04-24-2017 09:43 PM

Ooo... I wonder if that Vulture head would fit on the blue suit Chameleon body so I can make a placeholder Professor X.

All parts on the Civil War Spidey were unique to that figure; MCU figures are always uniquely sculpted (unless they're a repaint of a previous figure, but even then, they're always a repaint of a previous MCU figure, never a non-MCU figure). The recent teenage male body that this Ultimate Spidey is on shares no parts with the MCU Spidey.

I really think the upper legs are the same.

I can't speak for how well the head would fit the body since I didn't get that figure but I don't think this would be a good Professor X head. It is a rather sinister and evil looking mug.

Weapon X 04-24-2017 11:52 PM

It does actually resemble him, especially the Patrick Stewart version. But yeah, the expression would be whack lol.

They're not. While they look very similar, the Ultimate Spiderman figure has thinner legs and his knee caps are little lower even though the legs on both figures are about the same height.

They are different. The MCU Spidey from the Civil War 3 pack has different, thicker, musculature and is more wide from the side profile than the Ultimate Spider-Man. The Ultimate Spider-Man also has better hip articulation thanks to the thinner thighs the figure is sporting.

Since I mentioned the Civil War three pack, does anyone who may have the web wings Spidey for the Homecoming wave know if they fixed the logo on his chest and back?

Sorry to butt into the current conversations, but I've noticed a lot of people have been steadily looking for a lot of the newer Legends, like Logan, with no luck.
Are you guys members of any of the Facebook Marvel Legends groups ?

I've seen people posting the newer hard-to-find Legends for sale for only a little above retail (plus shipping of course).
Cyclops is still highly in-demand, and his price often reflects it, but for other newer figures, those groups are an excellent way to avoid the frustration of "the hunt", or paying the inflated Ebay prices.
Plus, unlike buying from Amazon, you can see multiple pics of exactly what you'll be getting, allowing you to check for paint and QC issues.

So anyways, I hope that this helps some of you guys :D

Bo Ttef 04-25-2017 12:45 AM

until Hasbro gets around to him- DC Classics Luthor is the best Xavier IMO. It isn't as Insane as Vulture but still has the smug "Professor Xavier is a JERK!" attitude going for him without being downright evil...
