Spending an entire evening on this forum is never a desire for me but being away for 7 hours today left a lot for me to catch up on! From skimming what I could, it sounds like everyone is put out and mad. 2 more reveals? Emma being one?

Not everyone is mad at Hasbro.
Two major reveals were all that was in the slide show. The floor had a lot on display though, including some we didn't know about or only heard off handed mentions of before(can't remember if we saw prototypes of mysterio and elektra or not).

And yeah, I've pretty much just wasted an entire saturday evening on this forum because of SDCC and other life happenings reasons not associated with my above bitching. xD

I'ma toast to this. Long live MU. And nerdiness.

Jason Abbadon 07-14-2012 11:43 PM

I;m certainly not mad at them- that display alone was worth keeping my attention glued to these boards!

Sadly, it seems we'll never get that Darkhawk variant (thoughI made my own way better, but still).
Huh. I never posted pics of my finished Talon either...you'll freak.
I think I need to make a bigger effort to customizing more villians- they're getting left behind in the MU run!

Snailbot 07-14-2012 11:49 PM

A question I have, and I'm not sure if Pete Parker & Trainwreck got this answered or not, is are we going to see a good number of MU figuers hit stores before Christmas time. I know a lot of the figures in the case have dates but that doesn't mean they're all accurate.

Trainwreck 07-15-2012 12:37 AM

That wasn't clear to me Snailbot. All they said is "MU is coming right now. We are shipping it now. Thank you for being patient. You are going to love it."

I definitely wanna see that! Massive darkhawk fan here. xD I've been meaning to get around to getting a new one and using the CP bullseye as a base to make a new one and maybe try out dying plastic on.

Hopefully the rest of what was planned for 2012. Not sure really though. They always seem to bounce back and forth with that. Either the tail end of the previous year into the new year, or the first wave of the new series in the year before. Though I'm thinking the 2012 series may have been cut short because of the movie releases. 2013 on the other hand doesn't seem to have as heavy of a movie year so it should be heavier on MU. Or so I'm hoping at least.

I've had that posted up on facebook since Kotaku plugged it earlier today.

That's going to be so freaking awesome when it hits. Hopefully lots of cameos and extra playable characters. Here's also hoping it's the start of more great games that just happen to feature marvel characters instead of Marvel character games to cash in on the property.

Nexodusrex 07-15-2012 04:30 AM

thank you for the information, Trainwreck.

as for finfangfoom, might as well go lookin for one on ebay again. never really wanted orange foom anyway.

.

That's what I did- bought a second DH fig, took out a notch from the faceplate with an x-acto, cut off and seperated the amulet and shoulder armor and put them onto a Steve Rogers buck.
Painted him up in metallic acryllics (which dry perfectly, BTW!) and added Falcon wings (painted opal blue from a Martha Stewart lne of paints of all things!).
Anyway- here's a WIP comparison for ya untill I post new pics!

Really digging that.
The only thing I might suggest is try using 90s Spider-man TAS Vulture wings. Then again, you could save those for a new DarkHawk armor or various armanent type. I'm kind of hoping he gets a legends figure too with his full armanents from WoK and his retcon. That'd be sweet to go alongside the MU figure.

Jason Abbadon 07-15-2012 06:56 AM

I have those TAS Vulture wings, but they seemed too thich when I was looking at them and the (also cool) Radaki wings that are sorta like that were too big...I was thinking of scoring another Archangel and useing the Radaki wings to make the Apoclypse-angel from X-Force.

Or making Gyre and the female raptor from that (excellent) Imperial Guard miniseries.

Marvel needs to show what the fuck is going on with Chris these days since he got back from War of Kings....he might not even be on Earth.
It would be an awesome Annihilators story with Gladiator hunting Darkhawk down for Illiandra's murder- and DH revealing the Raptors' plans to him!

As to making a "full weapons crazy overkill" Darkhawk, it's easy- just stick a DH body onto a Gundam figure like this one and add a ton of weapons.

When they did that I said "okay, someone's been watching too much damn anime."

Oh, he's back on earth. They continued his WoK stuff in the Nova series pre-Thanos Imperitive and cancerverse. Pretty much he got the bulk of the prelude into that, which led to DH getting the amulet fused into his chest and put him into a coma. There hasn't been anything with him since. He's still in the medical ward of the Pegasus facility iirc.

I really dig the vulture wings for some reason. I've been curious how the Spec Spidey's line vulture would work wing-wise, but the 90s tas one is epic if you use Wraith gauntlets. The pegs lock into the arm holes perfectly.

You could also check out how the Archangel wings look on DH. He had a couple armor shift styles that seemed to have similiar styled wings.

Jason Abbadon 07-15-2012 08:21 AM

Yeah, I read his Nova stuff- but since he can (aparantly) now fly between planets via Sh'iar stargates (useing the Datasong), he could be anywhere.
Him not being on Earth would explain him not helping in the Fear Itself storyline.

Gotta try out the Wraith gauntlets with those wings, thanks!
I have both...but finding them is the real challenge!

You're welcome. I did it because I know how hard it is to go to comic con and I think everyone should be able to experience the excitement of what's going on down there.

In all seriousness, that is one hell of a scoop. I hope they mean it!

If we don't see the Nova/Puck wave until 2013 (which looks like the case) I'll be okay with that. For me, that wave is the rare "buy every one of them" wave. The other waves, and all of the comic packs should be enough to hold me over. Maybe.

I may have to make it to a con other than Emerald City next year. Trainwreck, you have been beyond cool with all of your updates and amazingly helpful. Thanks so much! You're getting us info that a lot of people who are there are not getting. You're the man. Seattle Pride!

MeLikeJinx 07-15-2012 06:13 PM

If MU does die... I'm pretty much set already... Rogue, Jubilee, Emma Frost, Elecktra, Professor X, Angel and a better Punisher... they pretty much already made every fig I want. My only complaint is I wish some versions were classic versions instead of modern and I wish some figs didn't suck (like MU CP Gambit, lol). But that is such a small complaint all things considered.

D00MTR0N 07-15-2012 06:16 PM

I wont ever be 100% satisfied unless they make a correct secret wars armored Doom.

Jason Abbadon 07-15-2012 06:26 PM

Yeah, I hear ya...I need a SW Doom and an FF #350 Doom- the chromed out armor with Ultron-like spikes.
An easy custom I suppose- you'd just have to add the T-shaped chest armor and the belt buckle....hmmm....glowing red eyes....hmmm...

Y'know, Doom's Time Platform is on my list of stuff to make.

Hasbro Future of Marvel Universe??

Anyone have any ideas on the future of the Marvel Universe line? Seems that since David Vonner left there has been virtually 0 new MU released( everything to date was pretty much done under his watch.) The release dates for new product given at SDCC have turned out to be totally BOGUS.(ie:Inhumans 3 pack etc) The are currently NO pre orders for new waves and Hasbro order sheets through December have already been released.
What is the status of waves 20, 21. Wave 21 has already been released in some areas, I have a sneaky suspecion we will be very lucky to see a general release of this wave in the U.S.
More worrying still is there will be NO Hasbro Marvel Universe presence at the NYCC. It just seems to me that Vonner Was the key to this line and Hasbro letting him go may speak volumes for the future of the line. It just amazes me how Hasbro can screw up such a good thing. This line sells ,and would sell tons more if the distibution and order filling by Hasbro was halfway decent. Continually sending the same old cases of figures to the big retail outlets ( when newer case assortments have been released) leads to shelves of Absorbing Men and Boxes and Boxes of GOG ) One local Walmart here has 23 boxes of the GOG 3 pack and not one other 3 pack.) Why the hell would they order MORE 3 packs when they have 23 in stock, thus NO Heroes Reborn 3 packs.) This kind of shit will definitely kill the line. And it is Hasbros fault, They should put seperate UPCs on the packaging so this shite doesnt happen. Hope I'm wrong but it just seems Hasbro doesnt seem to give aS%@T about this line.

Snowflakian 10-02-2012 12:58 PM

I don't even know where to start in correcting this.

The UPCs are not the problem at all though. If they were, then walmart and toys r us would have the same problem of not listing who is who by it. Only TRU between those two has that issue, since they do their sku's based on the line, not the UPCs whereas walmart does it by the UPCs.

Everything else, well we've just burned through 2 new waves in less than a month. Give it some time, this is a slow year too with all the films and being the other year in the every other year pattern they use for slow and heavy release years. (Heavy year 2009, slow year 2010, heavy year 2011, slow year2012.) Give it to the holidays and next toy fair. Retailers also still have to work their way through the stock they have now before they really order new. The Holiday season coming up will cause that.

Optimus Vader 10-02-2012 01:12 PM

This again?

bitman2 10-02-2012 01:32 PM

Dont mean to be negative, hope I'm totally off on this, On a positive note we do have waves 18 and 19 this year.( some really nice figures) It just seems IT could be SO much better. Just wish Hasbro would be more forthcoming with INFO.
