We're unlikely to see many more figures based on an unpopular character. Lucasfilm is in a bit of a jam, as they signed actor John Boyega to play him for at least one more film.

You're wrong about that. No one I know or even online HAS EVER SAID THAT. You're probably in the very, very small minority of one on that one. Finn is one of the best things about TFA. (I'm not too crazy about TFA overall but..) Finn and Rey were the best things about the movie in terms of a new generation. The original trilogy cast being there was more than what you could have ever hoped for. I have my little gripes about how I wish Han Solo stayed around but I let it go for now. I'm interested where Rey and Finn will go next, etc.

I hated the first 6 Movies, because in my Opinion the stupid Story
was to complicated; everyone was lying to everyone, and all these intrigues...
never liked that shit.

In FA, you know who the Villain is right from the Start, the entire Movie
is made easy and funny :D

You mean you didn't like 4, 5 or 6? And you know TFA is basically a rehash of Episode 4. Some differences but it was a tribute to the OT (Original trilogy).

Friends, discussion boards, pop culture website chatter... Some of it is just racist.

Lucasfilm itself has been criticized for some of the same reasons that it took heat for Jar-Jar:

Despite What You've Heard, Disney's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Is Racist (thestreet.com, 30-Jan)

For my part, I like John Boyega as an actor, but agree that Finn's characterization needs work.

Although I'm far from the type to complain about people "calling everything racist", I do think this article is kinda reaching in some places, or at least, not representative of the entire "black community"'s opinion on Finn (I hate when people act as if there's one monolithic "black community" whose members all share the same opinions). Again, this is one person's opinion, and while they do raise good points for discussion, they don't firmly "prove" the movie is racist (especially because of the stuff they got factually wrong that some of those points are built on), they just generate discussion on whether those elements are racist or not. But again, they did get some things definitely factually wrong, like saying that Poe is white (he's not, he's Latino) and using Maz Kanata as an example of Disney not wanting to put black women in the movie (which would be a perfectly reasonable supposition, except for the fact that Lupita has said that she chose to be a motion-capture character, as after 12 Years A Slave being such a "physical role" as she said, she wanted a role that "wasn't at all about her body") As far as I can tell, general consensus amongst Star Wars fans of color (specifically in the group that people would complain "complain about racism too much") is that Finn's a good character.

I agree strenuously with your dislike of oversimplification.

Maz Kanata is the most interesting character in TFA, imo. :D

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Padme Amidala SH Figuarts - The Toyark - News

EvilMonkeyPope 01-19-2017 06:41 AM

Now we need a Nexu.

ufnovaes 01-19-2017 06:42 AM

Good work, Tamashii.
Still wating on Rey or Erso, btw

Cyclopswc 01-19-2017 06:50 AM

Why does Amidala looks like she has micro-dots on the face? The flesh on the rest of the figure, like the arm and abs does not have that "fuzzy dots" look. Is that just the promote photo? Real figuarts Star Wars figures doesn't look like that, do they?

It's because the faces are printed on, not painted in the traditional way. I haven’t bought a Star Wars Figuart but from the people that do I hear that this problem of seeing the pattern only exists in promotional and high-res pictures, in-hand it's a lot less noticeable apparently.

Yeah, recently I got my S.H.figuarts Tony Stark and I couldn't see these dots. I think it's just in the pics.

rooker 01-19-2017 07:12 AM

sh figuart padme face look very terrible or not??

backfromthedead 01-19-2017 08:33 AM

Figuarts figures just look like that in the HI Res close ups but in person the dot matrix printing makes the faces look eerily realistic in hand. I suppose if you hold the figure about 2 inches in front of your face you can make out the dots but just in regular handling and display you can't tell.

Dr Kain 01-19-2017 09:05 AM

Why Padme and not Leia?

Marvelfangirl 01-19-2017 10:27 AM

Is it me or is her likeness way off?
Edit: One of her headsculpts to me look off. But the first one I think looks like her :)

The Figuarts likenesses usually look better in the final production versions compared to the initial promo pics.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like he's judging all six movies as a single entity and as a result, the flaws of the prequels count against the OT. That's what the "overly complicated, everyone's lying" criticism makes me think of.
