question: whats the difference between these and the other ones?

Previous storm collectibles were based on street fighter v, not street fighter 2. It’s a different art style, different head designs.

Kinda like people who like a certain model year of a vehicle but think the more recent years don’t look as good.

Exactly. Different art style. Personally, I grew up with Street Fighter II, so that's my preferred look for all characters. You can see the difference in the image below.

They look great. I'd probably be a little annoyed if I was one of the people who bought the other figures last year in place of a regular Ryu and Ken but whatever. Whats up with Ken having tattered pants tho.

I think Ken's is too small too. Their bodies are huge, they have such small heads. I wish they would fix it.

Not really feeling the new Ryu and Ken...i think it's the heads- I've been wanting a regular Ken but i think I'll just stick to the first release.

It’s the art style. It’s loosely based on the Street Fighter 2 anime from the 90’s. Ken and ryu were massive in the torso with small heads. In the early 90’s, when the game came out, big bodies and smaller heads was the popular art style in anime. Dragon ball, fist of the North Star, etc.

And that same group of Capcom artists (akiman,bengus/crmk,etc) went on to push those aesthetics even further with Darkstalkers. Looking forward to seeing what Storm does with them.

I'm not sure if they were talking about the SF V versions. My original thought, was what's different between these new ones and the "evil" versions they released a little while ago. Seems to be the same exact figure just with non "evil" faces.

You and me both, buddy. I'll buy any DS figure Storm sees fit to put out.

Re: Ryu being a pinhead, it's no worse than on the SF V version.

Both figs have unnaturally small heads relative to their bodies. The SF II Ryu is a bit taller, and actually the proportions on it look a bit better to me, though it may just be my SF II bias.

The SF II figs are based off of the Ultra SF II Final Challengers game and are quite accurate, so the designs are going to be bulky and exaggerated, as they had been in various other media as well. I'm cool with that. Ultimately, it's a dude in a gi, so the weird, blown-up proportions make the figure more interesting to me.

In the meantime, Storm announced an ultra SF2 Ryu that seems to better suits me :)

I personally like the beefy martial artists. One of my favorite bad guys in film was Bolo Yeung in Enter the Dragon and Bloodsport. He was very powerfully built, especially compared to the wirey Bruce Lee.

Yea seems weird they would release a battle costume version first instead of the original player 1 version? Have they done that with any other SF characters?

Love that Cammy- It's like the battle Dress Chun-Li, it doesn't come across AS chun-Li, so i can use her in other displays. this Cammy will be the same, I'll get her because she's a cool looking figure- but there's no way she'll actually take the traditional Cammy role on the SF shelf
