It's almost like they DON'T want to lidquidate stuff haha

RolandofGilead 03-20-2018 03:48 PM

I dropped by at lunchtime today. The store was packed like it was christmas shopping season, but not a thing was on sale.

EvilMonkeyPope 03-20-2018 03:49 PM

Bastards cancelled my Vision & SW order!

I spoke to a manager today and he said that they are waiting on liquidation assessors to visit each store before they can start really dropping prices.

Toys R Us Liquidation Sales To Begin on Thursday, March 22nd 2018 - The Toyark - News

Snowflakian 03-20-2018 08:39 PM

Guess it's time for those final TRU shopping trips then. T_T

MeLikeJinx 03-20-2018 08:42 PM

I kind of want some of the military themed True Heroes vehicles. I wonder how low they will go before people start clearing them out.

Black Arbor 03-20-2018 08:49 PM

Wait, my store has had stuff on discount for a couple weeks now, the action figure section is all currently 40% off right now, does liquidation mean something different than what I thought?

Riddick 03-20-2018 08:52 PM

Damn, I need that Vision/Scarlet Witch 2-Pack ASAP.

It means to turn assets into cash as fast as possible. So it usually means deep discounts. And as they’ll have no where else to send it ( except discount stores) they may go as low as at cost... but by then it’ll look like an old Soviet grocery store.

Then your store must have been on the initial list of closing stores, prior to the announcement that they are going out of business entirely. Two in my area are in the same situation. In January 180 stores were announced to be closing in April. Now the rest of the stores will have those same sales going, until they close their doors in May.

Last week they had Geoffrey toys (both stuffed & a rubber bendy one) on a stand near the registers & went back Monday & those were all gone.

Maybe i'll ATTEMPT to see what's going on tomorrow with this sale. I wonder if it'll be a regular trip there for me where i leave empty handed and with less time prior to work and less gas in tank or will i find something.

The Honey Badge 03-21-2018 08:57 AM

went by mine at it looked the same as usual. Nothing was there with poorly stocked shelves. TRU exclusives are more like eBay exclusives to me.

Exodus 03-21-2018 10:47 AM

Just got 20 dollar more in TRU $, I wonder if it's possible to ask to get the rest of the points expedited before the final closing of the store...

crimsondynamo32 03-21-2018 11:21 AM

First LEGO set I ever got at Toys R Us was the General Grievous Wheelbike all the way back in 2005. Just this past Sunday, the last thing I'll ever be getting from Toys R Us is the Grievous Combat Speeder.

It just felt poetic.

Comedian 03-21-2018 05:21 PM

First toys I remember buying there was multi bot from masters of the universe and the real ghostbusters figures. The last toys I bought were mega block teela and beast man for masters of the universe and egon from ghostbusters 2 from playmobile. Very poetic indeed.

Same, though my store was one that was announced to close weeks back. Also, I went in today and the action figure section has been changed to 50% off. Nothing to outstanding left, but there are still a few things of interest.

Bearjew 03-21-2018 09:31 PM

Went by my store today and they saidb60 days from closing. They still had a lot of items though. Had probably 10 A Force sets. I picked up a X-force Dpool since my online order never shipped. They were cool about it though, price matched the 40% off deal.

protostar8 03-22-2018 09:34 AM

My local TRU hasn't started the sales either. Saw some lady buying a Nintendo Switch at full price and I was like...why??? lol

BlackRazor 03-22-2018 09:35 AM

Stopped by TRU today & a few things on sale but nothing I saw worth getting had any discount yet.

SpasticPlastic 03-22-2018 10:54 AM

The store by me had a sign saying that the media has been reporting liquidation sales start today, but that is incorrect, as the stores have not been told when the sales should begin. I saw a picture on another site of a similar sign.

Different news stations are reporting different things related to that. Some are saying they don't know, others are saying it was a last minute decision to postpone, and others are saying it will start Friday.

The whole thing is one pile of turds after another.

Yeah I saw something from Clark Howard & he indicated tomorrow. What a mess.
